Relaxing time had by all

This was the first time the family and I have been to Blackshaw moor and we thoroughly enjoyed the peace and quiet there on our six night stay. On arrival we were warmly greeted and helped to find a suitable pitch for our outfit (we don't have a motor mover and I'm terrible at reversing so need all the help we can get). The pitch we chose was huge and we easily pushed our caravan into position. The toilet blocks are very clean and the site is kept to a very good standard. The wardens were out nearly everyday, all day, keeping everything nice and tidy. The information booth had a wealth of knowledge and the lady in reception was very helpful looking for historic places of interest on their computer, even printing off some suggestions to visit. The site is a few minutes drive from Leek, which has all your shopping requirements with Sainsburys, Morrisions and Waitrose in town. Just outside the site is the hotel/restaurant the three horseshoes. It looked nice from the outside however they do not allow pets so we didn't go in. Although a couple of minutes drive from there is the Lazy Trout, a charming old pub which has some great beers and a tasty lunchtime menu. Also nearby is Tittesworth Reservoir which is a great place to walk round and burn off some calories. All in all the site and the surrounding area is great and one we will definitely consider returning to in the future.

a gem

we have just returned from a 4 night stay and cannot praise the site enough and what wonderful caring wardens, especially the lady warden with short blonds hair and her hubby who were always smiling and helpful, the flower displays are the very best we have seen on any caravan site including in the club network and the shower block is prestine. the local area is stunningly beautiful with lots to do, we are local people and would recommend leek town on a wednesday for the wonderful market. also the site is very easy to find and the pitches easy to access.

Wonderful site.

We recently stayed on this site for a week and thoroughly enjoyed it . The site is spotlessly clean and well maintained the wardens never seem to stop working and are really friendly and helpful. we were pitched opposite the childrens play ground and it was nice to see the warden checking the equipment every morning even in the rain. The resevoire is lovely and well worth the 9 mile round it and over the dam. This was our 3rd visit and we hope to return next year.

Ozzie & Flo on tour

We stayed here for four nights in June over our final weekend of the trip. Site is good. Nice individual pitches in separate rooms. Our selected pitch was not level side to side so had to use my Lock'n'Level but had a challenge because the stones were quite deep and loose so when reversing Flo on the mover the jockey wheel dug in and skewed Flo off to one side. Got there in the end but it was a bit of a faff. RSPB Coombes Valley is worth a visit. Saw the Greater Butterfly Orchid just flowering in their meadow and completed the full circuit walk. Very nice woodland walk. Endured the usual Caravan-Club-weekenders-mine's-bigger-than-yours barbeque crowd. Before long they will be the only ones who can afford Clubsite fees.

One of the Best Caravan Club Sites

From the moment we arrived we where made welcome. Good pitches, all hardstanding, and site well kept. Facilities good and always clean when I visited them. Wardens cheerful, helpful and kept the site well maintained. Site full at weekend but not too many children when we visited. Need a car for most things but there is a pub down the road for an easy walk. Lazy Trout pub about 3 miles away good for food and ale.

Very nice site

we stayed here 3rd-8th July, a great site terraced with good sized pitches more than adequate toilet facilities, the wardens where spot on. the dog walk is a little small but dose the job. the reservoir is about a mile away to stretch the dogs legs and a good local pub within walking distance.

Great Site

This is the first time that we've visited this site and we found it an absolute gem of a site.... we've just got home and booked again already. The wardens were friendly as they come and they were great with the kids, all the facilities and the site was amazingly well kept. We loved the fact that all the pitches are hardstanding and also they seemed to be a real decent size, not as cramped on space as some that we've stayed at seem to be. We would highly recommend the Saturday market that's on in Leek. The dog loved the dog walk and the kids loved the adventure playground. Overall a fantastic site, and a great weekend away.... thanks to all the wardens.

All good

Here at the moment. Lovely clean well kept site. Easy checking in. Very understanding ranger and his wife. The site was fully booked over the weekend. And everything was still spotless.  Don't park at the bottom on the site. Very busy a road.

A little Gem

A last minute booking but what a little gem. Set in lovely surroundings. Great amenities block and wonderful staff. Only a short drive into Leek Town Centre and with a pub within walking distance to the site it's on a definitely return to site list.

Good Clean Site

Good clean site with clean facilities and friendly staff. Serviced pitches in the centre of the site. Bottom of site is close to the A53 so gets traffic noise; top of site is near the children’s playground but there are also lots of pitches away from these areas. Toilet/shower blocks are at the top and bottom of the site but nothing is too far from any of the pitches. Dog walks border the site. Some pitches are a bit remote from service points for electricity and TV, so long cables are needed – 20 to 25 Metres. Suitable length TV cables are available on site for £15. Take the A53 in the direction of Buxton but, well before then, turn left or right on the very minor roads to get lost down winding country lanes and beautiful scenery. Leek is a town worth visiting - park in the market square if you can and walk from there. Parking is free after 3 p.m. The “Three Horseshoes Inn” is worth a visit for food, with a choice of pub food, carvery or restaurant. Point to note: the entrance to the site is not easily seen until you’re on top of it. It is signed but the signs are masked by trees. Drive slowly when you’re close. When approaching from Leek, the “Camping and Caravan Club” site is on the left and can easily be mistaken for the “Caravan Club” site which is about a mile further on the right.
