Outstanding site & wardens

This was our second visit to this site, outstanding clean, well presented and sociable and friendly wardens. Great to see the wardens had taken time to research the site and discover its history, resulting in an excellent day where they'd got involved with the polish military community who'd lived there after being displaced following World War II, meeting with the former residents and their families.  We were lucky enough to be there on a day when the polish and local community were invited to visit while a plaque was dedicated to the former residents. Congratulations to them for making our stay a great experience.

Review on the site

Never been to this part of the country before, the site is convenient for Leek, Buxton and further afield in Staffordshire/Derbyshire plus National Trust Sites.

Sleeping in a lay-by

Our 1st stay on blackshaw moor. Lovely site, great location for Leek and Buxton. Staff brilliant and friendly,  I slipped up and didn't pre book a disabled pitch, so the only pitches were on the lower level. Unfortunately this was like sleeping in a lay-by with the cars and lorrys passing all night( my fault). Site well maintained but a little hilly for disabled visitors. A personal dislike is the small nooks and crannies side pitches which remind me of camping on a car park. I will come again... But pre book next time...oh and watch out for the early arrivals campers pushing their luck for an early pitch.

Good location

Situated just outside Leek and on the edge of the Peak District Nation Park, it is well placed for all sorts of activities from sight seeing to walking. The site is well run, very clean and the wardens very helpful and cheerful. We will be returning in the future.

Great site

Had a long weekend here. Good sight, I like the extra little touches that's being added, like the doggy shower. It's clear the wardens go that extra little bit to improve the site. We will be going again.

Blackshaw Moor

It was our first visit to the area, we have always stayed at Chatsworth on previous occasions and we are delighted with our new choice. The site is on a fairly busy road, but once in the site there was no problem with traffic noise. The site is lovely, the pitches are well spaced mostly with mature tree hedging, which gives a sense of privacy. Site wardens can (and have) taken the edge off a holiday but the 4 wardens at Blackshaw were so friendly and helpful, advising us of the best places to eat, the best walks and nothing was too much bother, we cannot praise them highly enough. The toilet blocks were spotless. It is a site we will certainly return to in the future.
