Excellent

We thoroughly enjoyed our October stay at this site. The wardens were very efficient and very friendly. The site is extremely well presented with lots of little quirks which make it homely. It was immaculate throughout our stay, the wardens never seemed to stop! They provided us with lots of local knowledge which helped with walking and the local bus service which is convenient and regular. Excellent location. Loved the dog wash facility. Will definitely return.

Great location & easy to get there

First time for the wife & I here, arrived late (sorry!) but still had one of the best welcomes we've ever had, so obliging and happy... Thurs-Mon stay, some road noise wherever you pitch but we didn't find this too intrusive, wardens relaxed and joined in, lots to do & see, cycling up on the moor was FAB & highly recommended but tough even for the regular cyclist. We'll be back!

First time here

What a pleasant surprise my husband and I had when we arrived at Blackshaw moor. Staff members were brilliant, very helpful, friendly. Site is very well maintained, toilets and showers were immaculate. Don't forget to have hard pegs for your awning, all pitches are hard standing. Site was busy over the weekend but was still quite and relaxing. There is a good pub which is within walking distance on a nice evening, they have a set menu and a carvery. There are a lot of places to visit around the area many a car drive away. Plenty of walking in and around the area, with stunning views. I highly recommend this site, its close to us (25 mile's) so would definitely go again for a short midweek break.

Blackshaw Moor

What a super site, right by the Roaches if you like walking. Bus service just up the road into Buxton, Leek or Hanley. First class wardens who keep the site in A1 condition. Will certainly visit again. As for the chip van mentioned in an earlier review, I have to say we found it excellent, good portions with some of the best chips I have ever had outside our house.

Fabulous wardens. Won't use chip van again though!

Loved this site, the wardens went out of their way to help and understood the needs wants and desires of people caravanning with toddlers.  Really friendly welcome, which continued throughout our 3-night stay. Went to use the chip van on the Saturday night. Queued for nearly an hour(!) for just a large portion of chips. Only 15 people in front. Really inefficient. If my brain hadn't been so frozen (it was very cold) then I might have thought to go into Leek instead. I just couldn't believe it was really going to take that long and the longer I stayed the more it seemed necessary to wait. In the end, the 'large' portion of chips was half the size of the normal ones they'd been dishing out. I queried it but nothing was done - they were running out, but still took the money for the large one. No apology to customers for their wait either. Lovely play area here for the children, and it is possible to pitch adjacent to it if you are lucky.  Would love to go back.  Really well-kept site. Thank you.

Thank you

Thank you again as always it's a pleasure to stay at Blackshaw Moor. It was our fourth visit this year and sadly unable to stay over the Christmas period due to early closure. The Wardens and assistants are a credit to the site ,keeping it immaculate through out. We love our visits and the area has so much to offer.

A Refreshing Change

This was our first time at Blackshaw Moor and it will not be the last. It is a lovely site and a great location for all parts of the Peak District and Staffordshire. There is also a pleasant trip over to Cheshire too. The site itself was very clean and tidy and the Wardens were very friendly and helpful. The town of Leek is also very nice too and worth a visit. In fact there is so much to do is was difficult to fit it in so we will definitely be going back to finish a tour round a lovely location. There are both Sainsburys and ASDA supermarkets along with an Aldi too in Leek.

Wonderful site

Wardens friendly and happy. Site was nice and quiet and within easy reach of so many nice places.  Good range of eating out facilities all within easy reach.  The 3 Horseshoes just across the road, serving a good range of food including car very.  Had a wonderful meal just down the road from that at The Lazy Trout, nice country pub,  nice friendly service.  Will certainly be back to visit the site.

Beautiful location

It was our first visit to this site and this area. It was fantastic. Beautiful walks and scenery. Right on the boarders of Derbyshire and Cheshire. There are so many places to visit we will definitely have to return more than once. Staff on the site were so happy and helpful nothing was too much trouble for them. There is a fish and chip shop van on site every Saturday evening and The Three Horseshoes Inn is within walking distance and well worth a visit. All the facilities were spotless as expected with Caravan club 10/10. Only downer was a short walk on site for dogs and they had to be on leads. But overcome by long doggy walks all day.
