Wonderful Site

Having had two nights at this site this weekend I had to write this review as soon as I got home. The wardens on this site are absolutely lovely , they made us feel so welcome and were happy chatty and friendly. It is so obvious that they really take  pride in the place and seem to go above and beyond expectations. The site is really well laid out and maintained to a very high standard with the facility blocks being spotlessly clean and warm. The grounds are really looked after and they are working hard every day to keep everything neat and tidy. The site is a real credit to the staff running it.

Beautiful in autumn

Stayed here in October 2015. This is a beautiful site, well-kept and extremely clean. The wardens were so friendly and helpful. The only downside is that the bottom end of the site is close to the busy A53 and the road noise can be quite intrusive. The site is excellent for the dogs as there is a good walk through the woods. The site is very close to the Roaches. It is definitely worth coming back to, but we should pick a pitch further from the road. Ye Olde Rock Inn is dog friendly and serves excellent food.

First time here

This was our first visit to this site and we were not disappointed. We were greeted in the usual CC friendly fashion by the wardens and altho' the site was pretty full we found all the available pitches were large and flat and all hardstanding. We pitched at the bottom of the site and the road noise was not too intrusive and certainly didn't bother us during 'sleep-time'. The bottom amenity block was somewhat dated but immaculately clean and fresh smelling. All facilities were to hand and the small bits of history of the site mounted around the site where very informative and interesting. The Three Horseshoes Pub is close to hand, i.e. within walking distance, along a footpath by the road and Tittesworth Reservoir is well worth a visit. The Roaches are close to hand too but tantalisingly just out of view due to the trees on the west side of the site......this was a disappointment but a walk or drive towards Buxton is well worth the reward for the views. We were stunned by the views and landscape in this part of the Staffordshire Moorlands and probably some of the best in The Peak District, especially that on the road from Thorncliffe to the Mermaid public house, just above and to the east of the Club site. Buxton, Bakewell, Harrington and Longnor, Dovedale, Millers Dale, Monsal Dale etc are all within easy driving distance and would fully satisfy any keen walker and lover of The Peak District. We will be returning to this really well placed site.

So clean

This was our first time in a caravan so we were a bit unsure. The wardens were so friendly and helpful. The shower block was immaculate and all the grounds well kept. Really enjoyed our weekend, would go again.

A really versatile site!

As with all Club sites, Blackshaw Moor is spotless, well organised and really welcoming. The siting of Motorhome service points is especially good. Access from the main road is great. You can then see how versatile the site is. If you would like instant access, pitch on the lower section near the road. If you would like peace and quiet move up to the middle section. The top of the site has a play area and is great if you have young children. I am sure you will find somewhere on site that is just to your liking. Pitches are all generous and pretty flat. TV reception only allows ITV but there are TV hook up points to plug into if necessary. There are many walks that you can access straight from the site. Tittesworth Reservoir and Nature Reserve is especially worth a stroll. The Roaches are a short walk along the main road which has a good pavement throughout its length. We did stay during a spell of beautiful weather which always influences your impression, but overall a lovely place to stay. Book with confidence!

One of my favourites

Water in men's showers lukewarm and spray weak in the late evening. Smell in the cubicle from the drains. Road noise [mainly heavy lorries] from about 4.30am to midnight for the pitches fronting the road. Manhole covers on motor caravan service point are heavy. Site on side of hill with steep gradient to top, or bottom, of site.  Yet this site remains one of our favourites. Why? Pitches are good, the motor caravan service point easy for us to use, good views across the valley, so many walks to choose from, easy access to Derbyshire and Staffordshire, easy to find and enter the site, road noise not an issue for us, and maintained to the usual CC standard.

BLACKSHAW MOOR, JUST GREAT!!

We really loved this site, The Wardens were all superb,we really enjoyed learning about the war time history of Blackshaw and how the wardens have formed a great friendship and working relationship with the local Polish expats who still live in the area. A quiet site, even over the weekends, really can't praise Blackshaw highly enough!

Excellent site

My husband and two children (5 & 3) have stayed here three times now. Each time the excellent team have been nothing but friendly, professional and so welcoming. Even helped us to manoeuvre onto our pitch on our first visit.  The facilities are immaculately clean, shop holds essential items, and the information booth is really useful. Small playground for the over 5's keeps the little ones out of mischief for a while and a local fish and chip van visits the site at weekends. Ideal location for the Peak District. Tittersworth Reservoir is only a couple of miles away and the Three Horsehsoes public house is just across the road (which serves delicious home made food and real ale and also has an amazing Wheelhouse Spa).  Highly recommend

First time out with the Caravan Club...

With only a handful of caravan outings behind us, this was our first trip with the Caravan Club.  Booking had been painless and we found Blackshaw Moor to be very much as described on the web site.  It is in our experience a large site with level pitches on a gently sloping site.  The toilet and shower block is immaculately clean as are the other facilities such as laundry, drying room, and chemical disposal area.  Staff were friendly and helpful.  There is a small self help information booth and reception doubles as a shop, but carries a very small visible stock.  I didn't see a play area for children, but not having children, I wasn't really looking.  I would have liked to have seen  a coffee shop or meeting area where we might socialise with other caravanners on a wild and wet evening (which we had every night!).  Overall though, a pleasant and wholesome experience and a promising start to our new membership.

Happy Days

We stayed over Easter for 6 nights with our two children aged 11 and 8. The site is lovely, clean and well kept. We had a fully serviced pitch which was a good size, however all the pitches are a good size. The site wardens are very helpful and friendly. We walked to the Tittesworth reservoir, we followed the road to the entrance about 1 ½ miles, there is a short cut which we took on the way back about 1 mile. At the reservoir there is a big play area for all ages, shop and lovely café/restaurant. We went to Alton towers and the Splash Waterpark (about a 30 minute drive), both are good days out, we booked and paid for in advance. The site has a drying room which was great for drying our outdoor clothes and shoes. We would definitely return.
