Nobody mentioned the road noise on this site, coupled with the wardens yapping dog and also deciding to chop wood on a warm Saturday afternoon when you have come away for peace and quiet means we won,t be returning. All this said the area is great and a visit to Trentham is a must.
We visited mid week so not busy, very clean and tidy wardens were great and friendly. Loads to do in the area and a good pub/restaurant within easy walking. Some interesting post war history including pictures of the site.
A good dog walk and plenty of walking in the area. Only draw back was some of the tight corners for our outfit, definitely plan to return, might have to get a smaller outfit!
Our second visit to this site started over the bank holiday so understandably packed. We were told we could move pitch on the Monday as most people went but decided to stay where we were. Facilities spotless, wardens were superb keeping the site immaculate and seemed forever available to help. Our Saturday morning and afternoon were interrupted by motocross bikes in the next field and the fumes hung in the air a bit! However, ideally placed site with walks in easy reach all over the peaks. The 3 horseshoes pub was amazing with generous bar food portions and a 2 aa Rosette restaurant which was MasterChef and more but all at really reasonable prices and well cooked. Love this site for its facilities and access to some fantastic walking and hope to make a return trip later this year.
On arrival the site was very busy, but not by the entrance, why, well if you like to be a truck spotter then its great for you, the lorries do not stop thundering past all day and night. i did find a space at the far end which was quite,
the pitch however for a motor home is a problem as they are not level and if you do not have extra high level blocks you will not level it. most pitches have this problem
the staff were great and helpful.
the reason we picked this site was it was close to a lake and would be good for dog walks,,shame it was over 1.5mile walk. if you want to go to Leek there is just 4 buses a day each way, taxi is £9 each way
sorry i will not be back as there are better sites located within a short distance for what i need
Helpful and friendly wardens and a well kept site. Lovely location close to many spectacular views / walks and towns. Handy dog walk on site. Reception has a shop with local produce. (The milk tastes so much better than the normal supermarket stuff!). Fish and chip van visits on a Saturday evening but be prepared for a long wait (worth it as delicious!). Only down side is that we could not get the sites TV connection to work but the on-board aerial picked up a few channels.
This was our first stay on a club site and I only hope they are all like this. We were welcomed by the friendly staff and found our pitch . Everywhere was clean and tidy and the showers and toilets were spotless. The team here are a credit to the caravan club they are so cheerful and obviously love there work.the nearby tittsworth reservoir was a bit of a long walk away but it was well worth it.
My wife and I have just enjoyed a very pleasant 5 night stay in our caravan at Blackshaw Moor. The site is about 3 miles from Leek and 10 miles from Buxton, both towns worth a visit. About 5 minutes walk from the site is the Three Horseshoes Inn where we had very nice meals on 3 evenings. It is possible to walk directly from the site onto Hen Cloud and the Roaches, and about a mile away it is worth visiting Tittersworth Reservoir, and a lovely path around the reservoir takes about 2 hours. A short drive from the site there are very many wonderful walks in the beautiful White Peak. The caravan park has level spacious pitches, and has 2 toilet/shower blocks both of which are fine. The Wardens on site were pleasant and always busy. There is a children's play area but not many children on site when we were there. There is some traffic noise but it did not bother us at all and we were pitched on the middle row ; it would be more noisy at the bottom row next to the road, but these pitches were well occupied so evidently traffic noise does not bother most people who stay there. Overall, a very nice stay and a very nice Blackshaw Moor.
A 5 night break in April - We experienced snow most days but didn't deter us from exploring the moors . What great sized pitches - some other sites could take note.
Plenty to do from the site not far from Leek, Bakewell and Buxton . Must add the bonus of the drying room - made a difference to wet gear.
First time we have ever seen a Dog Shower...yes !! Wardens so helpful, sense of humour, down to earth and lovely. Well done you guys.
Will be back
This is a super site with large excellent pitches. Just a short walk away from the "Roaches" wonderful walking country with views of the top all over the peak district, Convenient bus stop 5 minutes walk away into Leek or Buxton unfortunately only 4 buses a day but at fairly convenient times. Leek and Buxton both excellent old fashioned country towns. All in all a lot to recommend the site.
Probably the friendliest staff you will come across. Lovely clean, well maintained site, toilet block spotless, even a dog washing facility on the top pitching area.
Stayed with 2 caravans on weekend 22nd to 24th April, Fish & Chip van on site at 1900hrs, good quality fish. Will definitely be returning for a couple more visits this year.
