Better than expected.

A warm welcome from the wardens awaits at this beautifully kept site on the quiet southern fringe of the peak district.A well stocked reception area with all the usual supplies-there is no shop nearby-and very well kept large pitches to suit every taste. The proximity of the very busy main road may be an issue for some and did produce some noise particularly from motor bikes but dont let this stop you visiting. We spent a week here using the local transport to Buxton and Leek and walking the lovely walks surrounding this site. Those with a car may venture nuch further afield and there are no shortage of activities available. If you crave peace and quiet then you need to pitch above the reception area on the terraces or in the small cul de sacs. The wardens go way beyond the norm and were unfailingly bright, cheerful and helpful, possibly the best we have encountered and the facilities are well maintained, clean and tidy. A very pleasant and enjoyable stay.

Nice Place

Very pleasant site, with very nice staff. Easy reach of Leek and a very nice Wetherspoons pub ( three meals partaken of ). The only slight niggle was the water pressure, took an age to fill the aqua roll.

Blacksh away moor

This was our first ever caravan club site as we have just got our first van. On arrival the staff were very helpful and informative. Very nice site next to a main road but we never really noticed the road noise as we were not on a pitch near it. Great small and safe play area for the kids to play and very nice and clean toilet block and facilities. Great location for walkers and nearby towns of Ashbourne and Leek. Note. Not a very good TV signal with Van ariel so suggest you take a length of cable to connect to TV point on electricity post. I would definitely recommend this site to others and would be happy to stay again.

What a find

We originally chose to go to this site as, awful as it sounds, it is nowhere near any family so we could have a quiet few days  on our own. People had mentioned the road noise but this didn't bother us one little bit, the site is well kept immaculately clean, staff so helpful and friendly, the shop has any immediate necessities including milk in bottles, what memories that gave us. we shall certainly be going back there and maybe, for once, won't tell any of our friends so we can guarantee further peace & quiet.  But happy to recommend it to other club members, it is well worth a visit

A Gem Of A Site

We are so lucky to have this site only 40 minutes from us and have become regular visitors. The wardens are the loveliest people who devote so much time and effort making this site so great, the hanging baskets are beautiful and the plant pot people are a nice touch. I struggle to understand why people have issues with the road noise it's nothing more than you might experience at home , unless you live in the middle of a field , yes there are trucks up and down but that's the nature of the area with its limestone quarries.Go up to the top of the site  away from the road but then some will moan about noise from children as the playground is at the top.Maybe the middle of a field is best for some folk.  We have been to this site at least four times now and never heard the wardens dog barking , unless the office is closed and you ring the bell then he let's his mum and dad know someone wants them. As for the woodchopping it's a sound thats part of being in the countryside and let's you know your still alive and kicking. Is it really something to moan about? The facilities are modern warm inviting and spotlessly clean. If there was a "Site Of The Year " award this site would get our nomination.  There are a couple of good pubs close by and good walks around the reservoir. The market town of Leek is a short drive away with everything you could possibly need.

Blackshaw moor

Lovely site, very clean shower/toilet block, great dog walk, good size pitches, very friendly wardens...only problem was the road noise through the night with hgv,s on the main rd which runs right at the front of the site so if you move further back you should be ok...great location with a pub within walking distance,

Noisy

Nobody mentioned the road noise on this site, coupled with the wardens yapping dog and also deciding to chop wood on a warm Saturday afternoon when you have come away for peace and quiet means we won,t be returning. All this said the area is great and a visit to Trentham is a must.

Excellent site

We visited mid week so not busy, very clean and tidy wardens were great and friendly. Loads to do in the area and a good pub/restaurant within easy walking. Some interesting post war history including pictures of the site. A good dog walk and plenty of walking in the area. Only draw back was some of the tight corners for our outfit, definitely plan to return, might have to get a smaller outfit!

Did not disappoint

Our second visit to this site started over the bank holiday so understandably packed.  We were told we could move pitch on the Monday as most people went but decided to stay where we were.  Facilities spotless, wardens were superb keeping the site immaculate and seemed forever available to help. Our Saturday morning and afternoon were interrupted by motocross bikes in the next field and the fumes hung in the air a bit! However, ideally placed site with walks in easy reach all over the peaks. The 3 horseshoes pub was amazing with generous bar food portions and a 2 aa Rosette restaurant which was MasterChef and more but all at really reasonable prices and well cooked. Love this site for its facilities and access to some fantastic walking and hope to make a return trip later this year.
