We booked this site at the last minute due to operational problems at a different CC site. We arrived late and were met with a warm welcome but a limited choice of available pitches, all of which were bordering the A53 which runs right outside the site. It wasn't too intrusive for us but the vehicle noise (esp motorcycles) could annoy some. The facilities are excellent, clean and tidy. This site is very well run. It is quite a compact site and you'd be best to get as far from the road as you can for an undisturbed nights sleep. We had some heavy rain on one of the days and we noticed that some of the lower pitches (i.e those right next to the road!) had some standing water on them. It soaked away eventually but the hardstandings were a bit soft.
As regards pubs, there is one in Meerbrook (The Lazy Trout) which is both good and dog-friendly inside & out. It is also quite busy esp in good weather.
We are booked to go again in the coming weeks and this site could become a regular one for us.
Great site!
Our choice of the Blackshaw Moor site for a five-night break in June turned out to be very much the right one. Friendly and helpful staff, unbeatable washing and toilet facilities and the roomiest pitches we have ever some across. The site should be proud of itself.

BRILLIANT SITE !
Spent a week on this site which my wife and i thoroughly enjoyed, shower and toilet blocks immaculately maintained, well thought out site with secluded pitches for the quiet life, some with hedges between for added privacy. Plenty of bins for recycling and water facilities not far from your pitch.
The wardens are so helpful and knowledgeable on the surrounding area, plenty of walks and shopping in the area, 3 pubs and restaurants within walking distance.
The larger than normal pitch sizes were ample room for my twin axle and full awning, or Billy Smarts Circus as it was called !
The wardens make this site such a happy place to visit, once you've been you will be back, very well done to the team.
Excellent CC site
Have spent 2 weeks at Blackshaw Moor since Easter an excellent site, clean and visually attractive. The staff keep the site immaculate. The hard standing pitches are large and some have hedges between pitches to give added privacy. An excellent site for dog owners with the Roaches on the doorstep and Tittesworth reservoir only ten minutes away by car. It takes 2 hours to walk around the reservoir on good tracks. Very nice tea room to take refreshments after your walk. Nice pub opposite site but not dog friendly. Leek is one and a half miles away with Buxton, Bakewell and Chatsworth house in easy reach. Have booked again for September will be my third visit this year.

Rediscovering caravaning
Stayed midweek, last minute get away. Never been to this area before, lovely site, friendly wardens.
Site well kept, toilet/showers spotless. We were at the top end of the site, generous pitches and quiet. Lots to see and do in the area, we will definitely return.

Arrive early and choose a pitch away from the road
We stayed here for several nights recently and found the staff very friendly. We had a pitch overlooking fields with plenty of space and as we were well away from the road, traffic noise was negligible.
There is a useful bus service to Leek and Buxton and good walks locally.
Nice site, friendly wardens.
We stayed here recently. A nice site, well kept by the wardens who were friendly and helpful.
Felt a little isolated as motorhomers, some nice walks in the area. The nearest pub did not allow dogs we were told but otherwise a nice site.
