Local Delight

Used this site a few times for short breaks as it is only 30 minutes away, lovely site with lots of flower displays and ornemantals it is a credit to the wardens, as usual everywhere is kept clean and tidy, great play area for the children with climbing frames etc for them to use up there energy. (Just one note for the club, please top about 16' off the trees and then a lovely view of the roaches could be seen, this would be appreciated by all I am sure.) Lots of places to visit I can recomend Buxton just look out for the winking man as you climb the steep hill past the Roaches ! Lots of places to go for a meal but my vote goes to the Red Lion at Thorncliffe it is approx 1 mile from the site.

Our 2nd Visit

This is the second time we have stayed at this site, professional and friendly wardens, well maintained and relaxed feel. Plenty of good walking in the immediate locality, some good local hostelries, great food at the lazy trout in the next village. Road side pitches can be noisy. Whilst not much in the immediate vicinity for kids, accessible to plenty of attractions by car. happy to go back for a further stay.

Nice surprise

Have never visited this part of the country before so are was a pleasant surprise. The site is on hillside but nicely terraced so pitches are flat. We enjoyed reading the information about the Polish inhabitants, you'll have to go yourself to see what I mean! Wardens were extremely pleasant and always working to maintain the site and it showed. If you catch the bus back from Leek don't do what we did, we got off at the Caravan and Camping Club Site which is lot longer walk!

Highly recommended

This was our 4th visit to the site and the first not on a fully serviced pitch, due to availability We were closer to the road than normal and this pitch would not be our choice again as road noise at times was intrusive. Staff however are superb and site management top notch due to very hard working wardens  Cannot understand how serviced pitches can be booke for one night at weekends thus preventing somebody booking two weeks seem madness that pitches lay empty and a member has had to use a 2nd choice pitch for a long stay, nobody wants to move awnings etc once set up the loser is the club not getting a higher rate for the empty serviced pitch. Just reality not a moan as a lovely site with great staff the flower baskets need a mention which show the attention to detail from the wardens Very dog friendly will be visiting again, but further back away from road on a serviced pitch

Well run site

Great site which is really very well run, spotless facilities and lots of little touches which made our stay very comfortable. Fantastic friendly staff who really made us feel welcome and work hard. An example for other sites to aspire to. Main road can be busy and noisy but pitches at the top are quiet with open countryside bordering. Plenty to do in the area, we enjoyed the reservoir walking and pleasant cycling once away from the A road outside which is not pleasant to cycle on. Nice pubs close by.

Many Thanks!

We only stayed one night but were dismayed & embarrassed to find we had run out of gas, for the first time, both cylinders, just as the meal was prepared and going in the oven! The office had closed but staff were most helpful & cheerful and sorted us out!

Comfortable and welcoming site

We stayed here for 3 nights early in July. A nice site set among trees. The wardens are particularly friendly and helpful. The large pot of herbs growing outside reception with an invitation to pick and use is a nice touch. We found the site has a nice comfortable, welcoming feel to it and we wondered if this is connected with the areas former use as a Polish resettlement camp. There is some road noise but we didn't find it obtrusive. The nearest pub is the Three Horseshoes which is about five minutes walk away on a footpath alongside the road. The pub/ hotel is busy with good food and drinks. The near bye Tittesworth Water is worth a visit and although we walked to it, it would be better to take the car if possible as the road wasn't really suitable for pedestrians.
