First Visit to Blackpool South

Very friendly welcome from the site staff when we arrived. It was half term so pretty busy and not much choice of pitch. We eventually pitched at the end of the site nearest to the main roads. Some noise but not excessive given the location. Facilities whilst not the most modern were perfectly good although from where we were pitched it is a long way to the nearest chemical emptying point despite there being a service point quite near but only for fresh and waste water. The motorhome service point needs upgrading to an open grill. Given that it was half term at £17 a night the site was good value. The main downfall of this site is its remote location especially if you don't want to take a motorhome off site. We booked in full knowledge of this situation. I don't know what the options are for the Club to work with the local council to get some form of public transport nearer the site? A mile and a half walk to the nearest bus stop is not really on. The site staff have worked hard to provide useful information on local transport including taxis for which there is a fixed price fare to the various attractions in the town. We also found that the metered prices from the rank near the Tower were very similar. However you have to be prepared for this to add up even after a couple of visits we spent £40. There is also information on parking motorhomes in Blackpool but it is restricted to a few places. I wouldn't put anyone off using this site but just suggest they are fully aware of the constraints before booking.

OK I guess

On the first night there was a party in a nearby house until 1am - so much noise - unacceptable. Surprised Wardens failed to complain or put info about it on their board. Small site. No dog walk and busy road to walk dog outside - poor really. All clean as expected. Near the action. Chip van - wouldn't bother - poor quality chips with loads of eyes in urgh! Blackpool - was on list - now off - wont be back! Lights so over rated. Run down.

Good site but let down by others

Arrived at 1pm as instructed on website and email confirmation, shame others did not stick to this request, always get the greedy ones don't you (this was a problem for us on departure as we left at 12, car and caravan had arrived at 12, blocking the road! We had a job getting out, as the road you come out of site is narrow and a busy. I feel sorry for the wardens trying to jugle cleaning and early arrivals that think they can swan onto site early. Pitched on first pitch, lot of dog mess on the grass around the pitch so had to move. What's happened to basic site manners??? People walking on your pitch, kids constantly around the car and caravan, dogs not on leads? I have kids but I also try to teach them the basics when on site. As you can see from the above the issues arose were related to other guests rather than the site. Some road noise but to be expected. On the plus side the wardens were very welcoming, the toilet block warm and clean. The site is a 10 min drive to Blackpool seafront (expect to queue from pleasure beach onwards). Drove in each day and parked at the back of the Bonny Street Market, Central car park. Close to all attractions and shops. Loads for kids in Blackpool, went to Pleasure Beach paid £100 for 2 adults 2 kids under 7. Found this expensive as kids only went on a few rides more suitable for older kids, stick to funfair on pier for younger ones! Went to the circus in the tower, worth every penny and get 34% off via Caravan Club. Always come this time of year to see the lights, it's quite special for children.

Warm & Welcoming

On arrival had a very warm welcome & soon booked in & on pitch having a cuppa, after a long journey was very pleasing. Staff were very freindly & answered questions on local area with ease. Nice play area, facilities clean tidy. It was good to be able to come & go without restictions as there was lots to do, also with the illuminations in the evening & the Tower open late. There are no buses that run past or near the site but a taxi is available, we took motorhome in, but be warned streets have height barriers. There is a Tesco Extra a short drive from the site but no pubs or resturants close by. You hear traffic noise at times. It was a good location being just outside the town, you could easily cycle into the town. A very pleasant stay & had good weather also.

blackpool south

the standard of the site and facilities, is as usual first class, but found one of the female wardens to be rather abrupt, and I did not like this. The site is good for visiting blackpool, but due to the sites location there is a lot of traffic noise and the roads are extremely busy. As I am a dog owner, I found this site to be totally useless, meaning that dog exercise has to be on the roads outside the site, which as already stated, are dangerous, and the only alternative is a 20 minute drive to the coast. I will not be coming back

Good site if you don't have a dog.

This is a site we use every year to end our season . The site itself is clean and well maintained with friendly staff. However, the experience is marred by the following:- having an arrival time of 1pm means , by the time you arrive, pitch up and erect an awning, the afternoon is gone and you are too tired to do anything else. There are only hard standing pitches which that are very difficult to get the steel pegs in. This year we bent 3 rock pegs, one of them almost by 90*. We have to put 3 groundsheets down to make it a bit more bearable on the feet. Lastly, the site entrance is on a very busy, narrow, badly maintained road. As we have a dog, you literally take your life in your hands each time you have to take your dog for a walk. There is also a rule where you cannot leave your dog unattended.Considering most people who come to Blackpool do so to take in the shows etc. this seems to discriminate against dog owners.

Bank Holiday Stay

Easy to access site straight off the motorway, upon arrival we noticed that it stated arrivals 13:00 fortunately for us it was about that time so please ensure you check arrival times when booking. Booking in was easy and straight forward (2 adults and 2 teenagers) wardens seemed friendly enough and were happy to give us advice on transport links into town best option the taxi service a fixed price of £8 to pleasure beach. Picked pitch 23 a lovely big corner plot but sometimes noisy due to Motorway and private road behind site fence. Site facilities well maintained and shower / toilet very clean. Site office sells a small selection of basic items both food and caravan spares. There is not a great deal to around the site no pubs or restaurants within short / easy walking distance. Overall a pleasant site and does what it says on the tin, but unfortunately Blackpool itself is now not a place we would rush back to, great for the teenagers not for us, not a reflection on site / wardens or the club.

Good as always

The wardens Dee and Steve were wonderful (we didn't see the other wardens so can't comment)Their hard work, neverending cheerfulness and humour make the site an excellent place to stay. The site is clean, organised and friendly. We have stayed many times over the years and enjoyed it, but (and we make this comment every year) the dog walk is rubbish! Please organise a new one. Thank you Dee and Steve for all your patience and hard work.
