Great even with the Show!

We are just back from our first visit. Although full as its the school holidays the site is quiet and everyone was so friendly. This is a great base for so many places. We had a lovely day at Stonehenge which is an hour away but well worth the visit. Plenty of peaceful walks from the site which is an added bonus. We were not aware that the "New Forest Show" was on when we were there and the road to the site gets busy from before 8am so a bit difficult coming home. Also thousands attend so local roads were very busy. We will be back just not when the Show is on!

So-So

Lovely clean tidy site within the New Forest, as you would expect from the Caravan Club.   It is on the flight path of Southampton Airport so there is constant noise although this is not loud and therefore not an issue. The biggest problem is the facilities block.  There is only one, they are old, way past due updating and the visit we had there, both toilets and showers absolutely stank.   I will be contacting the club directly about this too.  Mostly a pleasant site but one I would not want to rush back to because of the state of the facilities.

Pleasant stay

The  site is ideally located whether you want to bike ride around the forest or hit the beach a few miles away. There isn't any play areas for the kids so some end up trying to create their own by either biking at speed around the  site roads or footballing between the  pitches.   The toilets whilst I  agree are dated and well past their sell by date are kept clean and tidy by the wardens.  The assistant wardens were there to help if needed otherwise we were left to enjoy the holiday.  I also agree the price charged doesn't reflect the  facilities offered. We've been to this site a number of times and still find new places to visit.

Toilet block issues

Excellent site. Been coming here for many years and have seen the toilet block deterieate in that time.  Since the toilet block is so poor the price charged should no longer be in the high bracket.  The block lets the site down and nobody appears to want to take the issue up.  Caravan Executive listen.

New, New Foresters

Our first visit to this site and very enjoyable it was. The New Forest with its ponies, wild life, scenery is just a few steps away.  We used the hop-on hop-off tour bus services and found them a very good way to see/learn more about the area.  You can see so much more from the top of a bus!  Lymington was well worth visiting, very 'nautical but nice'.  The site was full but The Wardens managed it well.  Yes, the toilet block is very dated, a throw-back to pre-Club ownership perhaps?  It really needs replacing.  That should not put you off visiting, its well worth it.

another good week

this was our fourth week in four years at black knowl and we will be back next year. This has to be one of the best locations in the network for nature lovers and walkers so much so the car stayed parked for the majority of the week. The site is close to many good places to visit within a short distance. It is perhaps time the wash blocks were updated though, although always clean and somewhat unique.I was surprised the site shop no longer did newspapers as it seems most do now.

Excellent location & site.

We have stayed here several times and it's in an ideal place for walking into the town and enjoying the surrounding forest. The wardens are very pleasant and helpful & the site is kept very tidy. It is very peaceful. The toilet block is very dated now but cleanly maintained. There is a 5 mph limit on the site (which was notified nationally in the C.C. Magazine) which most motorists adhered to, but sadly the children were allowed to race round at much higher speeds (accidents waiting to happen?)

POT CALLING THE KETTLE BLACK

I submitted my thoughts a few days ago and stated i was just about to go back to this site, on arrival the wardens had read my review that attacked the victor meldrews of the world and were very delighted with it as it does upset them..my comments still are as strong as before, why when you have all the facilities in you unit yet you treck across the site in pouring rain i will never understand, i know rules are there for a very good reason some are petty but some are needed, the previous review about kids riding there bikes between plots is not on, so to the family that was quilty of letting this happen had a go at me for not putting my dog on a lead, yet allowed the 4 kids scream and shout until gone midnight, so perhaps he needs the dog lead more than me

1st caravan club trip

Just returned from a fantastic break at Black knowl . The staff are fantastic, the site is beautiful and clean , met some new friends.  The toilet facilities are basic but very clean.  Cannot wait to return. it was our first caravan holiday , and had help putting up the awning , which was very kind, it was lovely to see horses, cows and donkeys wandering free. Would strongly recommend the site
