Great location easy access to bus route going to Canterbury and Hythe. The staff were friendly and helpful. The toilets and showers desperately need an update they were cleaned regularly and the water was hot so no real complaint. The pitches are well spaced and have plenty of room. We hope to return soon.
Great location
Great location but on a main road. Facilities are a bit dated compared to other sites but plenty of space
5 night stay
Great site, pitches well spaced, good facilities and well placed for reaching many POI's. Although lower toilet block was closed this was no problem for us. Everyone seemed to be enjoying the site.
A lovely little site, booked late but didn't disappoint!
Booked this site a bit last minute, but was not disappointed. Plenty of pitches to choose from, went for a grass pitch and even during long spells of torrential rain it drained well and our son's pup tent stayed flood free! A nice little wooded dog walk which is secure to let dogs off lead. Yes, the toilet blocks do need updating but the shower water was absolutely piping hot, so I am definately not complaining! There is a small amount of road noise, but this was not a problem for us and the passing spitfires made up for it! The wardens were welcoming and friendly and maintained the site beautifully - well done and thank you!
If you want an easy and delicous meal, visit the catering van on site on a Thursday evening. We have been disappointed by these vans on previous sites but this one was by far the best we have ever come across. Lots of choice, even for non meat eaters, and generous portions at very reasonable prices. The two guys running the van were so friendly and professional. I only wish they travelled as far as my home town!!
Would definately recommend a visit to Dover Castle and The Battle of Britain Memorial - do not get mixed up with the Battle of Britain Museum, two very different places!
Lovely site but toilet blocks need attention
Lovely site - fabulous large pitches which are well spaced out. Friendly staff who are working all the time at keeping it maintained with regular grass cutting etc.
Great location for short drives to some stunning coastal walks. Visit to the Battle of Britain memorial is a must, also a walk at St Margaret’s Bay is worthwhile as are Folkestone and of course Dover.
Lidl supermarket about a mile away and a little shop over the road from the site stocks essentials and has very helpful staff.
The only thing letting this site down are the shower and toilet blocks. Not the wardens fault at all - they keep them really clean. But the club maybe need to prioritise them as part of the maintenance programme. One of the two blocks was completely closed. The other is very tired looking. One loo in the ladies was out of order and toilets were blocked while we were there. Unacceptable. Sadly we wouldn’t return or recommend until the club update the facilities.
Excellent stay at this site. We booked it at the last minute and didn't expect much but were pleasantly surprised. The wardens were very helpful.
The site was clean, covid friendly and the wardens were very helpful. We booked at the last minute and didn't expect much but were pleasantly surprised. What a lovely area and we can't wait to return with our friends.

Lovely site
This is a gorgeous site, great location to see loads, Dover castle, Leeds castle and easy to get into Canterbury by bus, however, the shower block, despite being extremely clean, needs a serious refurbishment, the showers spray everywhere and the block is very tired.
Lovely quiet site , staff really helpful.
Well, located for the Battle of Britain memorial and the coast . the service pitches were really wide and in Avery quiet spot very accessible. Two toilet block unfortunatley one was out of action due to drain problems. But this did not distract from the camp site .Walkable to the pub.
We greeted with Two Hurricanes flying over most afternoons .
Will certainly return as good stop over for the tunnel.
Thanks

First visit
First visit to this site and was not disappointed. Very convenient for Kent coast towns and Canterbury. For those wishing to use local bus services, stops are right outside the site. Across the road from the site is a little shop/post office. This is a quiet site with friendly staff.
Always a good experience
We have been to Black Horse site several times at different times of the year as we have our grandchildren nearby. We have had experience of several different wardens who consistently are friendly and informative. The site although near a very busy road from Folkstone to Canterbury doesn't detract from its loveliness. Although there is no on site shop the small shop opposite has plenty of reasonably priced items and the shopkeeper is a very pleasent and approachable man.
Altogether the site is one of our favourites.
