excellent

great wardens (one fetched two cones for a young boy to play football) nothing too much trouble, facilities impeccable, Only little gripe is arrivals were allowed to come on site 3/4 hr early and started to badger us to rush off, cheeky devils asked if we'd payed to stay later, it wasn't even time, didn't answer when asked ''have you payed extra to come early''

Good overnight stop for Dover ferry

This was an excellent choice for us, we travelled from Cheshire the day before our early ferry from Dover. The Ferry pitches are a great idea as you don't disturb others.  We received a friendly welcome when we arrived after our long journey.  We were travelling to Spain and forgot our extension lead, luckily there was a B&Q in the area!  We would definitely use this site again.

Ferry Stop Over

Used the site for ferry crossing at Dover. Special area allocated. Plenty of room provided to pull out of the pitch without making too much noise especially if leaving early. Traditional pitch parking with not room to keep the car hitched however as we have mover it was easier to hitch on this way. As we were delayed on way back from France did consider calling to see if we could book in however it was 11pm before we landed so we decided against it.

Thank You

We were caught up in the chaos of Calais on Wednesday, fortunately we always travel via Eurotunnel so eventually we were transported to Folkestone. We arrived 3 hours later than planned and it was 10:30pm when we turned into the site to be welcomed by a security man with a smile, a barrier card and 'the envelope' so we were soon pitched up. Thank you, thank you Blackhorse farm staff for organisation that made a very frustrating day end on a more positive note. It is good to know that at the end of the day you would be there. Talking to other people on site the following morning proved that we weren't the only ones grateful; the staff must have done a lot of thinking on their feet to accommodate those coming in at different times to when they were expected and those who couldn't get away because there were no ferries to get on. Once again many thanks to Blackhorse Farm wardens.

Sorry...not up to scratch

Used this site twice, recently, on a trip to Europe. It is extremely well located for the channel ports etc so booked a ferry pitch. A Ferry Pitch?? These are not pitches where the outfit can actually remain hooked up to save time when leaving, but  ordinary pitches!! Furthermore, the showers are dated and not particularly clean and when I used them at 7am were not even hot, only lukewarm, hence this review.

Ferry disappointing

We booked this site as a one night stopover enroute to France.  My understanding of a "ferry" pitch was that we'd be able to keep the car and caravan hitched, to save time in the morning when we had to be up at the crack to get to the tunnel. On arrival I was informed that wasn't the case and that I had to unhitch and reverse into a normal pitch.  I couldn't discern any difference between the ferry pitches and normal pitches and you seemed to be able to leave early regardless. To be fair we didn't get a chance for a good look round - the brief view we got looked like the site was of the usual Club standard and the toilets were clean etc.  Also the site is reasonably well located for the Channel Tunnel. If the ferry pitches were genuinely drive-in, drive-out types (like at services) where unhitching isn't necessary, then I would rate this a lot higher.  At the moment I'll look elsewhere.

Weekend Away

My wife and I decided to come to Black Horse for a couple of nights away (we live locally anyway), for a break away from the hustle and bustle of work. Upon arrival, the wardens were very friendly and I couldn't fault their professionalism. I was directed to our pitch and we duly set up home.  I noticed that a lot of people tended to drive to the water point and the shower block etc, meaning the front of our van was like staying on a busy through road! On the subject of vehicle movements, some of the other guests would have felt more at home at Le Mans, it should be noted that the speed limit is 5 MPH (FIVE) not 20 or 30 MPH. The site is lovely, but the constant movement at speed of traffic takes away the tranquility of the site. We will be returning, but we will be asking to be kept well and truly out of the way!

Lovely site

Been here several times now as close to our home town. Staff friendly & helpful. The site is very well kept, showers clean & hot. Very handy for le shuttle & Dover ferries. Only minutes from the motorway but very peaceful.

Peaceful Site

Stayed here in April for 4 nights we were surprised how peaceful the site was and the abundant wildlife within arms reach of pitch. Facilities were spotlessly clean & tidy with a convenient store/post office across the road. Looking forward to going back again.
