A quick visit to Folkestone

A very tidy, nice, clean site. Loads of rabbits. Main road a bit noisy but handy access to busses to Canterbury and Folkestone. A local, new looking, Lidle just down the road. A caravan dealership with shop about a mile away in Hawkinge. Only there for three nights as we were on a try out trip before getting down to the serious business.

Clean and Tidy

We stayed here for the first week of the Easter break, was a little windy to say the least :-) , the site is very clean and tidy and the wardens are friendly and very helpful. The local pub also welcomes dog and has a dogs menu .... Nice and peaceful and a well deserved break, would use again... especially if we was going to use the site as a stop gap on the way to France etc..

tidy site

stayed on this site over the Easter break, we had a serviced pitch No. 109 which is a good size.  Toilet and showers very clean, their is a drying room which you can put your wet towels in which is great if the weather is dodgy.  We have a motorhome and had to rely on buses to get us about.  Canterbury well worth a visit, folkestone also good if you have the weather. I think this site is ideal for one maybe two nights but no longer if you do not have a car. the farm near the site has just started using a bird scarer which lets of loud bangs from sunrise to sunset, got on our nerves after a while and not good for nervous dogs. A handy site for the Dover or Folkestone crossings.

Overnight stay in Folkestone

We enjoyed our one night stay at Black Horse Farm. Wish we could have stayed longer. We quickly got set up on our pitch and found the site to be quiet, even though there were many people on site. Toilets and showers clean and warm. We are hoping to return for longer period later in the year.

A superb site visited18th to 23rd March 2015

The only reason for not giving this 5 stars for families is that there were just we two pensioners so the facilities for children were not used. The facilities were spotless, warm and well lit, with an endless supply of hot water in the showers and adequate space to both shower and get dry afterwards. Security, safety, hard surfaces and site lighting were very good. Our serviced pitch was excellent value for money. The staff, together with a supporting team of friendly rabbits, keep the grass short and free from cuttings, so nothing carried into the motorhome. The only downside was the moronic minority who rip fittings, such as coat hooks and soap dishes, from the walls. The nearby bus stop has 4 buses an hour to Folkestone and Canterbury, so no need to drive off the site. We rate the site as one of the best we have encountered and would recommend it without reserve. The Black Horse pub opposite does not, at time of writing, have a vegetarian menu. However the staff could not have been more helpful. They produced a good vegetarian meal for my partner and my ox cheek stew was superb, The service was great too. A great break and base to explore that part of Kent using public transport. It's a pity the nearest Waitrose we could find is in Hythe!

Excellent for Ferry Crossings

Have only used this site before an early morning or after a late evening ferry crossing. The front part of the site is just for people like us, as it allows us to arrive or leave at unsocial hours, without causing annoyance to people on the main part of the site. Full marks to the club for developing this idea, which has made the first and last days of our continental holidays so stress free. It's less than half an hour from the ferry port too. The dedicated toilet block is always warm and clean and very close at hand.

Wonderful spot

This site is perfection - certainly in March. Beautiful site in every way. The staff are friendly and helpful. The facilities are immaculate as are the grounds. In addition, the location is super with a great bus service to take us to several value supermarkets in the area. Oh, and yes, it is pretty handy for the Tunnel and Dover too.

Excellent stop for the tunnel

Easy to find, brilliant access for the Eurotunnel, very friendly welcome (even though we were late due to operation stack closing the M20). Had a ferry pitch right by the loos which wouldn't chose if staying longer but otherwise a great site.

Same friendly site

This was out 3rd visit to Black Horse,  still a very clean, well laid out site,  new 2 wardens were great,  very friendly and laid back. We stayed on a ferry pitch up top for 2 nights as on the second day we travelled over to France with the car, leaving caravan here.  Nice easy 10.minute drive to Dover and nice to get back and have a good night's sleep in the caravan before travelling home the next day, great location . Pub across the road has gone down hill in my view over the last year, looking a bit tired and run down so we ventured over to The Lighthouse,  on the cliff edge at Capel Le fern,  very nice and only 10 mind away,  highly recommended.  It was very quiet this time, unlike July and August but you can expect that.  Great site,  very clean , we will be back
