Good site ..... but not for us!

We stayed 12 nights at Bearstead. It's in a very good location to get to all the main places in Kent. The site is well kept and has very easy access. The only problem we had, concerned the showers/toilet block. We're not sure if this is standard practice on all club sites, but the showers were unavailable every day between 10.30am and midday (for cleaning). They were, of course, kept in a spotless condition and we fully understand the need for cleaning. However, for us, the timing of closure just doesn't work, as we are relatively late risers and we felt 'regimented' by always having to shower before around 10am. I'm sure that presents no problem to many, but if you're like us and like a relaxed morning, you may wish to consider this.

Best Stay Ever

This is our fourth year of owning a motorhome and staying on various sites, however this is the first time we have left a review. We have just stayed for six nights at Bearsted and was disappointed when we had to leave. From the minute we arrived we received a warm welcome. Everything about the site from the wardens to the location is first class. I had read that there was disturbance due to nearby construction works, well let me reassure anybody thinking of visiting the site, don't let that put you off, as any noise I heard was totally insignificant. Bearsted railway station is a 30 minute leisurely walk from the site and from there you can visit many places. I would like to finish by passing on our thanks to Alan and Dee who were both excellent and a real asset to the club. If only we lived a little nearer, as we would be regular visitors, but all being well we will return.

Another nice trip to Bearsted

Another short break here. Well kept site, handy location just off the M20. Bearsted village really nice, with some decent cycling/running routes along with great watersports on Moat Park Boating Lake. The wardens keep good order, the site is clean, tidy and free from trouble.

Kent Retreat

Our second visit to Bearsted, and it still did not disappoint. This time the site was fully booked for two of our nights stay, yet it did not have the feeling of overcrowding. Managed a walk to Leeds Castle from the site, mainly on traffic free lanes and footpaths, stopping off for a liquid refreshment at the pub in Leeds Village on the way back. Even though we have visited this site before,we still managed to find a lovely Thai restaurant 10 minutes drive from site, but note,it does seem to be popular. The downside is building work next door, looks like commercial ,but apart from a lorry and his reversing bleeper wasn't too noticable. yes traffic noise is apparent, but caution when leaving the site,be aware the cars do fly around the bend from the right.

Pity about unsociable male warden

Very nice site pity about unsociable male warden. We arrived 15 mins early after travelling over 200 miles only to be told we had to turn around and find somewhere to park as he hadn’t had his dinner, we could have waited in the parking area but no he insisted we go out and return after 1pm. Also told wife she couldn’t walk dog around site. Would never return while this guy is running the site. Just a note his wife/partner was lovely very sociable.

Perfect location for visiting the towns of Kent

This was our second visit to the site this year. Nice site with all the facilities as you’d expect. Noisy at the moment due the the building work next door, we pitched ourselves as far from this as possible this time and it wasn’t a problem. What makes this site more special than other club sites is Alan and Dee the wardens, they go an extra mile and a bit to make everyone feel at home and comfortable. In over 20 years of caravanning we have not received the level of interaction with the wardens on other caravan sites as we have on this one. We will return.

A Brilliant Site!

We visit the area twice each year for fishing competitions and until last year stayed in hotels. Buying a caravan has given us an opportunity to look differently at the area and this site has definitely been a real bonus ! During both our visits the Wardens, especially Al, have been wonderfully helpful, and friendly, and it is clear they are dedicated to making the site a great experience for everyone. They are also knowledgeable about other club sites around the country and happy to share this, which has been great for us as we begin to explore. Facilities are well looked after and the site is immaculate. Two visits, a month apart in July, gave us experience of the site when it is quiet and when it is full. On both occasions we had a great long weekend and really didn't want to leave ! There are loads of places to eat and drink in the area. Head towards Hollingbourne and you will find the Windmill and the Dirty Habit pubs, both worth a visit. Alternatively Bearsted Green also has a number of places to try. There is also a great fish and chip shop just 10mins further down the Ashford Road. The Ashford Designer shopping mall is only a short drive as is Chatham with shops and the docks. There is also an M&S with a big food hall just five minutes drive away. With a journey time for us of nearly 4 hours it is too far to visit as regularly as we would like but we will definably be back next year! (Please take care as you approach and leave the site. The road outside is very busy and it can be difficult to be sure speeding vehicles will not be flying at you around the bend as you pull out. Hopefully what ever is being built next door will result in some modifications to the road to slow the traffic and make it safer.)

A hidden gem

We live locally and just changed over from a motorhome to a caravan so wanted to try the new caravan out, as this site was less than half an hour away I booked us in for a short weekend. On arrival the Warden Alan approached us while in a small queue and took our details, he placed us on a grass pitch which after all the rain we had been having I was a little worried, I didn’t have to be Alan knew how good each grass pitch was in regards suitability, he assisted us once parked, he gave me advice in regards pitching, levelling. Alan knows this site in every inch and between him and his wife they are able to run the site perfectly. The site is a small site taking around 70 pitches I think, most are level hard standing with grass pitches as well dotted on site, there is a small children’s play area, small onsite dog walk, very clean and tidy site as expected from CMC standards. The site has a med incline when walking back from the toilet area if your set up in the middle of the site but nothing to harsh. We were pitched close to the main road and yes there is some road noise but nothing to worry about unless your a very light sleeper, but the further away your pitched there is little road noise. The site is well drained from any bad weather, good wide entrance, separate in and out entry points so no having the dreaded meeting each other as you leave or arrive, the main reception and toilet blocks are clean and with a beautiful array of plants and bushes that area is very pretty. Overall this site is perfect for overnight stop off if your travelling towards Europe, a cheeky weekend away if you live within a short drive or even a weekend away to explore the South East areas. Great dog walks nearby and local shops and takeaways a short drive. Leeds castle 5mins away. We will use this site again without any worries. Wardens look after you and always there to assist and offer advice, plus the site is kept in a lovely condition

Great site great wardens but…

Spent 3 days in glorious weather here. The site is immaculate with spacious flat pitches. The wardens were friendly and helpful and prepared to put off time with members. The toilet facilities were of the usual high standards so in terms of the site and the staff I have nothing at all negative to say. However be warned the building site adjacent to the site is a nightmare!! The noise levels go way beyond what anyone would be able to put up with. Warning horns, hammering, riveting guns and workies shouting at each other starts 07.30 am and goes on until 5pm. Road noise and the like doesn’t bother me normally but this was just unbearable. Other members left early because of this but we stuck it out. We booked a year in advance so at that time there was no advance warning on the club website. Had we been informed post booking about this issue we may have reconsidered.

Fab site for Diggerland visit!

Great weekend and fab welcome from the warden who couldn’t be more helpful all weekend, as we stayed 2 nights with 2 caravans, ours and daughter and Son-in-Law and their three boys, 5,8 and 10. Took the grandchildren to nearby Diggerland and this site was the perfect place to stay! Thanks so much for going above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful stay! We will be back and highly recommend this amazingly kept gem! As it was a weekend the building site nearby didn’t cause any issues at all. A perfect weekend!
