Angry male warden puts us on edge

We love Bearsted site for its location and amenities. It’s small and ideally placed for trips into Kent or a walk into Bearsted Green (two great pubs). We have been coming here for years. However, our last two trips have been somewhat marred by the attitude of the male warden. He is aggressive and polices the site at all times of day and night. He is almost looking for misdemeanours and will even pull you up on things he thinks you MAY be about to do! He is obsessed with where you can walk your dog (apparently not on the site - only on the dog walk) - but you cannot get to the dog walk without walking across the site!!! We were even stopped by him as we left the site with our dog asking us where we were going and why weren’t we using the dog walk. He clearly likes to keep things under strict control but I honestly think his attitude is wrong and maybe he is in the wrong job. His wife is wonderful, as are the other two wardens. We will continue to use the site for the reasons I stated before but we try to avoid any contact with him.

Dont Expect Peace and Quiet

The site is situated adjacent to the A20, the M20, HS1 rail and the Southeastern Rail London to Ramsgate line. It is also underneath local airfield approach lanes. Background noise is constant and at rush hour extremely so. Facilities are very clean but dated. Pros: Easy access from the A20, central location for visiting Canterbury and the North and East Kent Coast, short drive to Bearsted Rail Station. Cons:Difficult to exit during busy commute times as the exit is on a sweeping blind bend in a 60 mph limit, site can get very busy and cramped at the weekend, site is on the side of a valley so views are limited, no decent pubs within walking distance, public transport is a long walk away One last comment, as mentioned in other reviews, the male warden is possibly the rudest C&MC employee I have ever met in 40 years. Be warned!

Great stay

We had a great four days stay over the weekend. The site and facilities are very well maintained, Alan and Dee were very helpful and run a very good site. We walked our dog from the site to the woodland trust which is a lovely expanse leading to the green for dinner at the pub. If you have transport it’s worth visiting Mote park which has 450 acres to explore. My only comment is a little hedging around the pitches would give a little privacy. We will be back to stay later in the year.

Excellent visit

Our recent visit to this site was excellent. The warden and his wife were more than helpful. The warden even took time out to give us some valuable training tips for our Cocker Spaniel. Would definitely recommend the site.

Not a pleasant welcome

After quite a long journey on the M11, M25 and a busy M20 we arrived 25 minutes early at 12.35 to be greeted with a statements from the warden that face masks are compulsory as he husband has cancer and when I pointed out that wasn’t the case at other sites we had stayed on I was told all the other sites aren’t following the rules. Having stayed on a number of other sites and having read the club web site it requests you wear a mask but it isn’t compulsory. I was then subjected to a lecture on arrivals are after 1pm. Reception was open and I was booked in immediately as the site was extremely quiet yet the warden felt I needed a good dressing down once more. Having stayed her several times on route to France I can recommend it but not the welcome.

not a pleasant reception

we arrived early as the m20 was on lockdown due to dover being closed , this means all traffic on the m20 has to leave the motorway to enable lorries to park up waiting for the road to open up again . so we were 25 minutes early and waiting in the car we were then approached and told the site office is closed and will reopen at 1pm .... the warden then said we have been told to send you away if people turn up early ! he then turned away got in his car and drove off. not the welcome we expected! about 15 minutes later the other warden opened the office and we booked in ... later that afternoon the warden apologized for his abrupt manner but unfortunately this was not enough to entice me to return to this site. we have been to this site many times and have been members for approx. 40 years and i can only say ITS NOT THE CLUB IT WAS. i have asked my auto renew membership to be cancelled and we will be looking at other places to spend our money

Top site

Alan and Dee are very helpful. We have our van stored on site and had a few issues with it, namely battery and mover. Alan was more than helpful with assisting. Nice clean site. Great for a getaway. Many thanks Mr Vehicle Assessor!!

Thanks for the tips Alan

Second time staying here, nice clean safe site the wardens are a dream very helpful in every respect, we would especially like to thank Alan for his tips for us newbies with regard to condensation and avoiding blockages to air vents below windscreen plus how to avoid locking yourselves out of your motorhome. The road outside is rather a busy one and you can sometimes hear the traffic, but it doesn't cause a nuisance. You can walk into Bearsted either directly along the main road where there are garages & tesco express & convenience store, also a pub/restaurant or otherwise turn off toward Bearsted Green where there are other outlets, this would take approx 30-35 minutes.

One of our favourite sites

Bearsted is one of our favourite sites, and we have stayed many times, 4 times this year, most recently for Christmas/New Year. The location suits us perfectly, the site and it’s facilities have always been immaculate, the pitches well maintained and well spaced, and the site managers are lovely people, friendly and ever helpful. Even their Christmas decorations put a smile on our faces. We have already booked for another visit when the site re-opens in March.

Great weekend break with special training for our dog

Lovely weekend at Bearsted. Good location to visit our motorhome dealer and meet up with friends. Huge added bonus...Alan helped us train our dog who always whines when I leave him. He taught us a method to stop the whining which worked wonderfully and meant we enjoyed a very peaceful pub meal with friends during our stay. It feels like we’ve bought home a different dog. He’s a quick learner we just needed Alan’s expertise. Huge thanks.
