What is wrong with people

I read with regret someone running this site down. It's a prestigious site which the caravan club management should be very proud of.Ross and Terry take pride in all they do the toilets and showeres are spotless, the site is very clean and well maintained. It's a pity more sites don't manage there pitches like here There are very little slopes on pitches definitely no more than any other site.what is your problem Admittedly it's not the best dog walk but there is a path on the road on the opposite side which is adequate.Don't be put off coming here, so many other people love it and so will you .

Not so welcoming!

Some points to note if you are considering booking this site. Firstly do not arrive before 1.00 pm as office is closed ( despite the door saying open from 9.00 to 5.30!!) the badly designed entrance does not making waiting easy for more than a couple of outfits. Late night arrival area cannot accommodate car and caravan (!) so don't arrive late either. There is no need to arrive early however as all pitches are pre allocated, something we have never encountered at any other CC site, and not something we like. No choice. Some pitches are very sloping and would need blocks. As previously stated that although the site is overlooking tranquil farmland, the site is very noisy with traffic noise from the busy A road and motorway. Obviously this does not worry everyone but this should be noted in the handbook. The dog walk is a disaster. It is basically an open ditch that has been tunnelled and overfilled with rocks and rough stones. It is extremely dangerous and no pleasure to walk for man or beast. It could be disasterous for elderly or disabled and even more so in the wet. There is no where else to walk the dogs as the site is situated on main road with no pavements and owners are actively discouraged from walking their dogs on site! It is made abundantly clear that under no circumstances should dogs be allowed to wee or poo anywhere in the site which makes life extremely difficult even if willing to clear up - obviously not dog owners or they would be aware it is impossible to know when and where your dog will go!! We were also perturbed to see the warden spraying weed killer around  caravans and awnings in use wearing gloves and a mask!! On the plus side the site is very conveniently situated for visiting Kent. The facilities, few as they are, are kept immaculately clean. This is a very regimented site with so many rules and regulations, notices everywhere, which made many of our fellow campers feel very initimidated and uncomfortable. I have never been anywhere where the information desk is in the laundry........!!! We will not be returning!

Rules and more rules

Site location ideal as it is close to the motorway junction. This does mean that there is some road noise from the M20 and also the A20 alongside the site. This is bearable. My two observations are: The dog walking area is hopeless. Just 75 metres of rough path (climbing Scafell Pike would be smoother). There is no alternative as the main road has no footpath. Dog owners are also discouraged from walking their dog on the site itself. Secondly, the CC have placed notices everywhere reminding people of the rules. The strangest being that the dishwashing door must be kept closed when using the area. Perhaps my "pinnie" was the wrong colour and should not been seen in public!

Comment from The Club

Many thanks for taking the time to leave a review. The wardens have been in touch as they want to clear up any confusion. The dog walk is actually 165 metres and occupies most of the Eastern side of the site. For future reference there are also walks directly opposite the site entrance, which are paved and off track and lead to the beautiful North Downs Way. With regards to the dishwashing room, this is just a polite request to shut the door when leaving as the room is heated at 21°C and as such if the door is left open then the heat is unnecessarily wasted. The wardens do try and keep signs to a minimum but as in keeping with all Club Sites, The Club does have signs to help all members with information in order for everyone to have the best possible time when staying on Club Sites. I hope this helps clear up any confusion and we look forward to hopefully greeting you at a Club Site soon.

Fabulous site

We stayed here for three nights and really enjoyed our stay. The site is kept immaculately clean and tidy. The facilities are superb - clean, warm and with Radio 2! The wardens were friendly and helpful. Several people have commented that there is some noise from the motorway - it is barely audible, in fact the peacocks in the next field were much noisier. All in all, a lovely site to visit - we will definitely return.

A nice place to stop and explore SE England

We have stayed here twice in the last 12 months and find the staff here very accommodating and extremely helpful. The site is clean and tidy and is a good location to explore the heart of Kent as wells easy access to London via rail or road. If travelling to Europe this is also a good place to stop being less than 1 hour from the Dover ferry port.

Very Helpful

Nice warm welcome from the Wardens. After filling our water tank and getting to our pitch we discovered that the fuel filter housing on our mh had failed leaving a trail of diesel around the Site, I informed the Warden who sent her Husband to us with a curtain that we put under the engine, they even let the RAC Patrol in out of hours, fantastic service, thank you very much for your understanding. The Site is very well maintained as are the facilities. Yes there is a bit of road noise but it didn't stop us from having an enjoyable visit. Thanks again. Derek & Jill.

Small but prefect

Bearstead was a very pleasant surprise coming off such a busy road you find your little oasis. We have not been to such a clean and well kept site in all the 8 years of being a member. We booked the site to visit Leeds castle which is very nice, but not to be missed is Chatham Docks. We will be going back so much to see in the area. A big thanks to the wardens for a lovely stay.

Really nice site with helpful, friendly staff.

We enjoyed a 4 night break here in April 2015, it was just what we needed, peaceful and relaxed. The staff were really helpful and a pleasure to deal with. We highly recommend a visit.
