Grass pitch or not grass pitch

Having set out on a Friday evening to met up with 2 of my brothers at bearstead. We run in to a little trouble on the lovely m25. I had put that we would be arriving in the time slot 1800-2000 when I booked the hardstanding pitch. I took the trouble to call to inform the warden that we maybe 5-10 mins late. "You'll have to park up in the late arrivals" was the curt reply. As it happens we arrived at 1950, only to find the shop closed. Having shined my headlights at the shop and toilet block so my wife could see where she was going, we saw movement behind a glass panel door. The wardens came out and opened up the shop and booked us in onto a grass pitch, as all the hardstandings had gone! Thanks very much for that because it was on a slope and soaking wet. We stayed at this site last year and the wardens couldn't have been nicer as again we arrived 5 mins late but that wasn't a problem for them taking us to our pitch and making sure we were all ok with where we were. Oh how times have changed with the change of wardens. But site is as what you would expect from a club site.

Just Amazing

Arrived at this site on 22/09/2017 as we had booked a 2 night stay,We were welcomed by Mick and he couldn't be more helpful, allocated our pitch and given our map directions and gate key, Mick & Sue had allocated a pitch near to water as I've only recently had open heart surgery so it was great not to have pull that water too far!. Pitched up and took in the site its not totally quiet as you can hear a little noise as the M2 motorway traffic is not far away but we are the type that aren't interested in total silence if we wanted that then we would pitch up in a library! Site facilities were really impressive and a credit to both Sue & Mick on keeping them that way, another great idea that perhaps other locations should do is the music piped into the toilets & shower facilities really nice to listen to music when taking the morning shower.Maidstone town for shopping is minutes away and the town is great for shopping or just looking around at some of the older buildings there. We cannot praise the wardens at this location enough they work hard and its reflected in the site they operate on behalf of the club!Well done Mick & Sue for looking after a great site which the club should be really proud of.We will return sooner rather than later! Thanks again for a great site and all the help given.

1st ever time out in our Caravan

Great site and great support from the relief wardens. We only live the other side of maidstone but wanted to test our new caravan. We found the site very clean and very pretty you can see that a lot of time has been put into the site. The little play park kept our three year old daughter going would have loved a swing and a bench but you can't have everything.

A lovely first time adventure

Stayed here for one night, which was our very first caravan trip. We found the site to be wonderfully clean and well maintained. The couple managing the site were extremely friendly and warm towards us, offering heaps of good advice. Our nine year old daughter loved the play area and can't wait to go on her next adventure! A fantastic introduction to the world of caravan and motor home sites - if this site is indicative of the quality to be found elsewhere, we will have lots of wonderful times. Thank you Bearstead.

Great one nighter

We booked Bearsted last minute while still in Germany as a one nighter on route to home. To be honest I couldn't fault it. It's just off the M20 so ideal and you couldn't hear motorway traffic noise. The wardens were a nice happy couple who checked us in and directed us to our pitch. The site was tidy and well kept and the facilities were clean and tidy. My only problem was the children using the site road as a race track and playing chicken with my car as I attempt to get to my van, but that's not the sites problem but the parents. All in all it's a nice site excellent for overnighters on route to and from the tunnel. I'll use the site again and try and stay a little longer next time.

need not have worried

Having read some of the reviews regarding the new wardens, we were worried what we would find. However we found the new wardens Mick and Sue very friendly and helpful. So once again we enjoyed our stay. Our only criticism regarding the site is the toilet block. Although it is kept spotlessly clean the facilities are now very dated. Perhaps the club should have spent money on updating the facilities across the network, rather that spending a large sum of money re branding the club. Which in my opinion was completely unnecessary.

Bearsted

We were looking for a site in an area that we hadn't stayed before to give an opportunity to explore and do some walking. Although Bearsted is quite close to the M20 the traffic noise was not intrusive and with bus stops immediately outside the site entrance we had the benefit of choice for local journeys to use the car or the bus. A park & ride site is just down the road to give easy access into Maidestone. The location of the site is good for access to the North Downs Way and there are other marked routes not far away including the Medway Path. The Naval Dockyard Museum at Chatham is close enough for a visit and can easily consume a day. The site relies on one sanitation block which is relatively small and when the site is busy there is a fair bit of pressure on the facilities. The problem is compounded by the closure of the facilities for necessary cleaning at 10.30am whereas if this was moved to 11.00am it may relieve the pressure a little. The site is clean and cared for, the wardens were a relief crew whilst we were there, and they were cheerful and helpful with their duties. It is understandable that this site is used as a stopover for those using the channel ports or Eurotunnel but worthwhile to extend the stay and have a good look around the area and that includes a visit to the pie shop at Bearsted Green where this local treat can be purchased and savoured! In all a very enjoyable four day stay.
