Bearsted

We were looking for a site in an area that we hadn't stayed before to give an opportunity to explore and do some walking. Although Bearsted is quite close to the M20 the traffic noise was not intrusive and with bus stops immediately outside the site entrance we had the benefit of choice for local journeys to use the car or the bus. A park & ride site is just down the road to give easy access into Maidestone. The location of the site is good for access to the North Downs Way and there are other marked routes not far away including the Medway Path. The Naval Dockyard Museum at Chatham is close enough for a visit and can easily consume a day. The site relies on one sanitation block which is relatively small and when the site is busy there is a fair bit of pressure on the facilities. The problem is compounded by the closure of the facilities for necessary cleaning at 10.30am whereas if this was moved to 11.00am it may relieve the pressure a little. The site is clean and cared for, the wardens were a relief crew whilst we were there, and they were cheerful and helpful with their duties. It is understandable that this site is used as a stopover for those using the channel ports or Eurotunnel but worthwhile to extend the stay and have a good look around the area and that includes a visit to the pie shop at Bearsted Green where this local treat can be purchased and savoured! In all a very enjoyable four day stay.

Very nice stay

We arrived after a very trying journey. What lovely wardens who sympathised, suggested suitable pitches and cheered us mightily. The weather wasn't great - cold, north wind and even heavy frost one morning. But the site is so clean and welcoming and the wardens so cheerful, kind and helpful - who could be downhearted. From the warm, clean toilet block with radio 2 to cheer your morning (OK, I don't listen to it at home either, but it's very jolly on a grey day), to the flowers and immaculately presented site - Bearsted does the Club proud. The road noise becomes far more noticeable if the wind comes from that direction, but that didn't spoil our trip. Only slightly sour note - with one exception, these were the most unfriendly caravanners we have met in a long time. No chatting over the washing up here. Still perhaps the weather got them down. We had a great stay and managed to visit quite a lot of the Kent coastline. And many thanks again to the fabulous new wardens.

What an Excellent Welcome

Good location on what is a beautifully maintained and managed site. Our only complaint, being country bumpkins, was the noise from the nearby M20 Motorway. The welcome we received could not be faulted and this friendly atmosphere continued throughout our stay. It is a great base for visiting the many NT and other local attractions. Can highly recommend the Park & Ride facilities in both Canterbury and Maidstone, however there is a bus stop right outside the site that will take you into Maidstone. A very enjoyable week helped by some brilliant weather.

Great site for visiting Kent

The site was lovely. Very clean and very friendly wardens (thanks). This was our first time to Kent and was a great location for visiting many attractions (Leeds Castle with 25% discount for club members and lots of great. National Trust locations). The only slight down marks were for something the club can do nothing about and has been mentioned before, motorway noise. Apart from that lovely stay

Return visit 21/4/17

We always use this site at the start and end of every season, and in between. Always friendly wardens and absolutely nothing to complain about. It was a nice surprise this time to find that we were able to choose our own spot! Fish and chips always an added bonus. New wardens enhanced our stay. Old wardens were very friendly but new excelled.

Excellent small site

We stayed here on the 1st night of our visit to the UK. We were met by a friendly and helpful chap who showed us to our pitch and gave us useful local information. Ideally situated on the A20 just off the motorway it's easy to find and access is great. Clean, tidy, friendly, everything I would expect from a club site. For me the best choice if using the Ferries or Channel Tunnel.

It is what it is

So clean

First time to this site (we normally do CL's) the facilities where immaculate so fresh and clean and welcoming. New Wardens were so helpful and making a real difference in ensuring the site looks like new (e.g. detailed cleaning by hand of the block brick path around the office and facilities). Thanks also to them for listing the local churches in the area.

New wardens

We have visited this site many times in the past, always spotlessly clean facilities & a well kept site. There is always some noise from the M20 & the trains to & from Paris/Brussels as they are both quite close. Apart from the child's playground there is not much to do for children. There is also a dog area at the bottom of the site. The new wardens were very welcoming, had a great sense of humour & a pleasure to meet. Keep up the good work guys.

Relaxing time away

We always use this site as our first port of call, after the winter. This year we had a new caravan to get use to and this is the ideal site. Particularly like the bus stop outside the campsite, so the car has a rest. Very good shower block and always hot water. Very nice new wardens.
