Lovely site set to cc usual high standards. Very very busy when there but still remained clean and tidy. Very impressed with Stewart one of the wardens who seemed to go the 'extra mile" to help people out. Only downside was as so busy we had to pitch near the entrance which meant almost constant traffic. We have a dog and it is nice to see other dogs but was surprised at how many dogs do seem to be allowed to get away with constant barking. Wardens very good and professional in spite of being so busy
This was our second visit here but won't be the last. There is not much I can add to the other reviews. It's a wonderful site and very quiet if you take a pitch lower down. The ones nearer the road at the top are a little noisier. So much thought has gone into the layout making the most of the remaining bits of architecture from the original house such as steps and walls. There are excellent long walks from the site, fairly well signed although always worth taking an OS map just in case. We just wish it was open all year round as living only 30 minutes away we could pop down throughout the winter!
One of the Caravan Club gems. Beautifully maintained picturesque site in a quiet peaceful location. Facilities spotless, friendly wardens. Area full of things to see and do.
Only downsides 1) Due to its rural location lack of any public transport within easy reach. 2) No wifi though mobile on O2 gave a good 4g signal for internet access.
I have to agree with the latest reviews. This was our first time here and it did not disappoint, you can see why it is so popular even if you are suggested to walk around to find a free pitch. we arrived on a Wednesday and it was full except for a handful of pitches we still got a level, peaceful pitch. Must come back when the site is in full bloom. Shame there is no wifi luckily my mobile and satellite worked. The wardens were very helpful and kept the site to a high standard.
The best site we have ever been too bar none!
Everything was first class, pitches, location, washrooms etc etc. special mention to the wardens who kept the whole place spotless??
Please dont go there as we want to keep it for ourselves....
Never explored this part of the country before & was very pleased we made the effort . Hastings & Rye close by & well worth a visit. The site was everything you would expect, wardens always had a smile for you & facilities are very good.
Nice place for a first time caravan couple.
Washrooms were fantastic and clean, very impressed. Plot was easy to setup, pleasant helpful staff.
Downside no Wifi, flakey tv signal.
Oh and lost gate card at £10 seems excessive, luckily we found ours.
A well located site for exploring the delights of East Sussex and West Kent, especially the great selection of National Trust properties within a 40 minute drive of the site.
We found the layout of the site a bit confusing initially as we were asked to park up and walk around to find a vacant pitch, but after settling in and wandering around the site we discovered lots of small areas for pitching as well as the obvious areas. The facilities are good and, as with all our club sites, always well maintained by the site team- thank you all. It is a shame that WiFi is not available and the TV reception was a bit hit and miss during our stay but hopefully the club will be able to address this in the future.
This is a lovely site with historic interest (we enjoyed reading the book about it) and pitches in different areas. We had a great pitch in an area surrounded by trees where just 4 outfits could pitch.
The wardens were lovely and friendly too.
We enjoyed visits to the coast, the science park and Battle itself.
The only extras for me would be a tv aerial socket on the hook up post and wifi, but as this is a big site these additions may be difficult, and expensive, to install. However, I would certainly stay there again.
