Nice site for an exploration of East Sussex and West Kent

A well located site for exploring the delights of East Sussex and West Kent, especially the great selection of National Trust properties within a 40 minute drive of the site. We found the layout of the site a bit confusing initially as we were asked to park up and walk around to find a vacant pitch, but after settling in and wandering around the site we discovered lots of small areas for pitching as well as the obvious areas. The facilities are good and, as with all our club sites, always well maintained by the site team- thank you all. It is a shame that WiFi is not available and the TV reception was a bit hit and miss during our stay but hopefully the club will be able to address this in the future.

A lovely site in a lovely location

This is a lovely site with historic interest (we enjoyed reading the book about it) and pitches in different areas. We had a great pitch in an area surrounded by trees where just 4 outfits could pitch. The wardens were lovely and friendly too. We enjoyed visits to the coast, the science park and Battle itself. The only extras for me would be a tv aerial socket on the hook up post and wifi, but as this is a big site these additions may be difficult, and expensive, to install. However, I would certainly stay there again.

Perfect pitches at a perfect location

As a Dutch family, we were a bit hesitant to become a member of the Caravan Club. But then we came across this campsite on the internet, and decided to become a member anyway. This turned out to be a very good choice. We went to the campsite 10 - 19 July 2016, it was very quite (except for the sounds of the birds) and very green. The pitch we got was very big, we have a caravan and an awning and we still had lots of space around. The wardens were very helpful and friendly. The campsite is very suitable for dogs, there's a nice long dog walk leading to Catsfield directly from the campsite, we used it very often to walk our dog. At the time we were there, there were lots of dog owners staying, but not so many children. There are some facilities for children on the campsite (a playground and a football field), but not too many. There's no wifi, but personally I think that these maybe somewhat limited facilities lead to a very calm feel of the campsite, which I really apreciate. The location of the campsite is very good: Battle is a very nice and cosy village, and cities like Hastings and Brighton aren't too far away. The beach is very close as well, which is especially nice on hot days. All in all we had a great holiday, we really loved the campsite and all the rabbits on it. Only one downside really: there are lots and lots and lots of pigeons!

History and happy times

First visit to this site at Battle despite living within 30 miles and being frequent visitors to Hythe for weekends and short breaks but we will now be alternating between the two from now on. This is a lovely site, very well maintained with excellent wardens who couldn’t have made us feel more welcome. Some pitches are in small or even single bays while others are in slightly larger configurations. There is an excellent children’s play area and ball sports area for the children on site. There are lots of places of interest to visit within a short drive, Battle Abbey itself, Batemans and Bodiam Castle to name but a few, and Hastings has lots to do for old and young alike. There is a nice walk from the site to the nearby village which had a little shop, a pub and a sausage shop in it. This is on the 1066 trail so keen walkers can easily walk further in either direction. Rye has a lovely nature reserve at the harbour and a pretty town centre with interesting shops too. We were there for 9 nights and still had plenty of places on our list to visit so a return visit is certain. No WiFi is a bit on an issue in this day and age but there was a good mobile signal (both 3G and 4G on O2 anyway) so not a disaster if you know how to set up a personal hotspot for downloading newspapers (sold in the shop to order too) etc. It would also have been nice to have had some information panels about the layout of the site in relation to the old Normanhurst Court of which many features are still evident like they have done with the old gunpowder factory in Kendal.

Nice location.

We picked this site as it was close to friends we were visiting for a Golden Wedding celebration. The site was good and facilities were clean. We were pitched at the top of the site and this can be noisy at times with motorbikes going past over the weekend. There is no internet and "nothing available" from the local area. TV reception was difficult at times. We had a good time visiting friends. The wardens were very helpful.

High standard

Although only our 3rd camping trip and 1st caravan club location, we cannot fault this beautiful site. Staff all friendly and approachable and facilities are spotless. Enjoyed our week stay and will be going back in the near future.
