We loved it here !

A lovely welcome from lovely wardens . The site is one of the best we have stayed . Secluded nooks of 6 vans in walled gardens or old stable blocks . As well as the usual up and around pitches . Set in amongst what would have been the ornamental tiered gardens of a stately home. .original sweeping stone steps and balustrade still there . A very grand entrance down to the lower shower block ! The dog walk is just lovely and leads out alongside the rolling fields of the Normanhurst estate where you can walk to Battle in 2 miles . Had a lovely encounter with a red fox who just stopped , looked and sloped away ! Rabbits are everywhere all around your vans and not fazed by campers . Showers spotless . Peaceful if your parked on “ Bunny Plains “ or by the lower block . Could be a bit noisier at the top by the road . Tv didn’t work . Mobile signal patchy but watching a pair of woodpeckers feeding their young just outside the window almost made up for no telly ! Battle is lovely . Lots of independent shops . People are friendly . We loved it . I’d recommend a stay here . Just sorry we live so far away .

Lovely welcome and stay

Upon arrival, we booked in with Sam who was very nice and chatty and gave us a brief history of the grounds etc. very Informative. Directed to sunny pitches which are nicely laid out. Met Claire as well and had a great chat and who answered any questions that we had. The site is lovely with woodland walkways and hidden nooks if you want to be alone etc. grounds were beautifully kept and facilities were spotless. Can’t praise Claire and Sam enough for their efforts along with the rest of the team. A credit to the club. Will definitely come again. 👍 Stayed 5th June -9th June 2024

Very friendly site, facilities spotless

Wonderful warm welcome and very organised arrival (given it was a sunny bank holiday and the site was full). Lots of the plots are tucked away into nooks so actually felt really nice and private. As for the stunning rhododendrons - def a reason to visit in May! Lovely walk into Battle on the 1066 trail and lots to do there, but otherwise the 1066 walk in the other direction didn’t seem to have any nearby “sights”. WiFi not really working, perhaps better in other parts of the site but we struggled.

Happy friendly site

Claire and Sam made us welcome from start to finish, the site is clean, tidy and very well kept. The rhododendrons were in bloom which made for a nice walk around the site. There is a new small dog enclosure which is good for an off lead roll or mooch, as the dog walk and 1066 walk is a lead walk because of livestock. We will be back 😀

WHAT'S NOT TO LIKE!!!!

Beautiful and interesting site and in May the rhododendrons were absolutely spectacular. Spotlessly clean and well maintained by friendly, helpful and HAPPY staff. Only an hour from home this site will be a regular for us now we've found it. Thank you all for a lovely few days stay.

Love this site !!

The welcome by staff when we arrived was great !! Humorous and very welcoming and informative . The road to this site is hideous .. it belongs to the council not the site so not their fault but the potholes were more like full on sink holes !! The showers and facilities were spotless and the staff continuously tidying and mowing . Couldn’t get any wifi which was a bit of an issue as was working , maybe a booster is needed on site . Love the walk to the pub through the sheep with their lambs . Catsfield has a pub that does get food and drink . The shop there is however awful !!! We were on hard standing which can be near the road noise but it was perfect !! Would go again .

Peaceful, well maintained park

I really enjoyed my two night stay here, there was a choice of quiet secluded pitches set among the trees or open flat pitches making best use of the views. The site is set in Parkland and had the friendliest, and most helpful staff I think I have come across, especially when I arrived flustered and frazzled after a long drive; It was noticed that I was travelling too fast within the site. The warden had a very pleasant chat with me after I was pitched and calm returned, his discussion with me, left me educated, not scolded and we left as friends, exactly how it should be. A walk of about 20 mins direct from the site on good surface through the countryside leads to a friendly village pub and well stocked shop. The only negative, nothing to do with the site, is the road leading out of Battle, it must rank as one of the most potholed roads in the country

Lovely Site

A great welcome on arrival with very friendly people. Lovely pitches and extremely clean facilities. Looking to return when the huge flower bushes are in bloom - it must look stunning. Wifi could be increased rather than just being available at reception.

Brilliant site

What a lovely site. Some pitches are secluded if you want privacy. Staff are friendly and pleasant. We forgot our teabags and the lovely site manager, Sam, gave us a few till we could get to the shop. Facilities are always clean. Went on the walk to Catsfield, had a delicious lunch in the pub. Staff there are also very pleasant and friendly. It is also dog friendly. Was a struggle to walk back but we are both in our late 60s. Have stayed here before and will definitely come back as it’s not far from us.

Lovely site

Our first visit here but we'll almost certainly be back! We pitched on "The Stables" which was a lovely secluded little patch - there are several of these microsites around the site so plenty of opportunity to hide away! Loads of space around our pitch area. Facilities are well kept and clean and the staff are friendly. One of us was using the accessible toilet and accidentally set off the emergency alarm - response time from the staff was impressively fast and they were very understanding of the accidental trigger! TV signal was usable from our pitch, although we found a stronger signal in a different direction to that recommended by the TV aerial pointer app, so do a full 360 sweep before settling on where your aerial is going to point! 4g signal to our wi-fi hotspot was a bit rubbish but we were told that it depends which network you're on, and exactly where on the site you are. Since getting our current caravan we've set ourselves a challenge to visit as many different sites as possible, so I think the fact that we plan to return to this one says it all!
