Of the 3 club sites we've visited this was the friendliest as the wardens were most welcoming and helpful. The facilities are all very clean and a pleasure to use. The proximity to Markinch is + for the local co-op. The - is the Laurel Bank Hotel which is also the local pub and very rowdy at closing time when the patrons past by the campsite after 10pm. The shouting and screaming sounded like it's right in the campsite. So the peace and quiet we desired was disturbed. I don't recommend staying here on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday nights for this reason. Also see the reviews first if you fancy a meal at the hotel. I don't recommend it as the food is not good.
Super Wardens
Met by wardens who remembered us and our dog, as we met them whilst they were on a few day’s break at Brora. Good friendly welcome.
Site facilities immaculate and site as a whole well maintained.
We were there only one night but dog walking superb in Balbirnie Park.
Site rather dark mainly amongst tall mature trees.
Surrounding area is good for visiting, but Markinch very drab and the Laurel Bank hotel not recommended, especially at weekend(read Tripadvisor where reviews are generally very poor….wish we had read them before going).
But a thanks to the Wardens for their warm welcome.

First Visit to Balbirnie Park Caravan Site
We visited this site for the first time - indeed it was our first time on a CMC site. We could not have chosen a better site for our first visit. From the time we arrived at reception until leaving a week later Joanna and Craig were always around maintaining the site and being welcoming and helpful to everyone. Check in was so easy and quick and everything was clearly explained to us. The site was spotless with a really friendly atmosphere and very relaxing. Our pitch was excellent and all faciltiies were at hand.Toilet and shower facilities were spotless.Super walks within easy reach. We will certainly return. Joanna and Craig are great ambassadors for CMC! Thanks to them both.
Great location for exploring
This is a lovely site with clean, up to date facilities. However the wardens didn’t really seem too pleased to have us there when we arrived and I didn’t feel particularly welcome, especially when I asked if our two parties could have adjoining pitches (which were available). They didn’t appear to enjoy their time there which created a bit of an atmosphere. Some of the pitches are in the trees and this can be quite gloomy. There was a change of staff halfway through the stay and they seemed to enjoy their role much more which put us at ease.
This is an excellent base for exploring Edinburgh and Dundee via train (there is an excellent train service) and getting to the village of Elie by bus. Lots to see and do in Balbirnie Park too.
Some pitches not very user friendly
We were initially directed towards a pitch it the area of the site closest to the entrance. Here the pitches are at awkward angles and some are incredibly sloping. Not the usual quality I’d expect from a club site. As the pitch was wholly unsuitable, we found another one on a much flatter part of the site.
The wardens are very hard working and are looking after the site well. Unfortunately this means that they aren’t in reception in the hours advertised as they are out on site. This makes it difficult to seek information, make any minor purchases or obtain laundry tokens.
On reflection, we probably wouldn’t stay on this site again.

Fantastic
We stayed here from 24-27th July. Although we had to find our own pitch when we arrived we were not concerned. There isn’t any water on the standard pitches but there is a service point. The toilets showers and communal areas were beyond anywhere else we have been this summer. You could smell how clean everything was even in the evening. The couple who run the park are jovial and very hard workers. We will definitely be back. Well done folks!
First visit to Balbirnie
First time at this site . Check in was so easy and quick and site rules ect were explained well and we were given print out of everything which was helpful. The site was spotless and has a really friendly atmosphere and so relaxing . Pitches were really big which was great. Toilet and shower facilities were spotless. we had dog with us and was very safe for her too.
Lovely walk nearby at Bridle path was excellent for dog . Warden Joanna and Craig were so nice and helpful and never stopped keeping the site spotless. We will be back .
Balbirnie 23 - 30 June 2021
We were lucky to get on a level sunny grass pitch, but some of the pitches would have been disappointing.
The wardens, Craig and Joanna do an amazing job keeping this site to a high standard and the toilets and shower block were immaculate - all done by just the two of them !
Covid dictated the closure of the information room, so Craig and Jo provided two A-frames at their own expense with details of attractions in the area - this was much appreciated.
The park next door provided a myriad of paths, trails and meadows to explore - probably the best dog walk on the circuit.
Thoroughly enjoyed our week - thank you Craig and Joanna.

Balbirnie Park
Just want to thank Jo and Craig for a lovely week at Balbirnie Caravan Site. They were so friendly and helpful, I will definitely be back. Location is excellent for exploring all Fife has to offer. Lovely clean site, well maintained and a really nice setting.
Trees
We have just enjoyed 7 nights at this very well kept site. The site is quite different from many club sites. It is not uniformed in its design & is more built around its surroundings. There are many tall trees & very shady pitches that may not suit everyone. There are also open grassy areas to pitch which we were lucky enough to have , they are snapped up very quickly. There is also a gravelled area which is mostly overlooked by nearby houses. The facility block is clean & well kept as you would expect. The wardens are both very friendly & helpful & nothing seems too much trouble to them. The park next door seems good for dogs & children to let off steam. We had a lovely run along the coast to Anstruther, great fish & chips, and Crail a charming little harbour with lovely pottery in center of village & fabulous cafe/ gallery in harbour.. the hotel in Markinch, Laurel Bank, just 5 min walk from site did a super sunday lunch & other meals looked good too.. we had great weather so no complaints.
