We stayed here last week for the golf at Troon, the wardens gave a warm welcome and although it was very busy with visitors for the Open Golf at Troon we were able to find a lovely pitch. The facilities were spotless, grass cut and bins emptied regularly. The site is not in the middle of an estate, you have to drive Past an estate and into the grounds of the University which are beautiful with paths and gardens down to the river. A paradise for dog walkers like ourselves. There is even cycle paths which we used to cycle to the promenade. True, Ayr is a bit rundown but you can see that in its more affluent times ie: when there were jobs it must have been a jewel. The high street had all the good shops and plenty of places to eat and drink yourself daft. We would not hesitate to stay at Ayr Graigie Gardens again if we are in the area.
Visiting Troon
Booked this site to commute to Troon for The Open Golf. Warm welcome from the staff and selected a pitch from the few available. Facilities were of the standards expected from a caravan club site. Having read a review from another member, it is agreed that Ayr is very run down and that this site is in the middle of an estate. That being so, do not let this put off a visit to this site.

Nice site but.....................
Warm welcome from the wardens but the alarm bells rang when we were told to pick our pitch, bearing in mind this was the start of the school holidays. Facilities on site were the usual club standards but this site seems to be in the middle of an industrial estate and the noise from lorries going over the speed bumps was incredible. Ayr itself is so run down it was beyond belief, everything seemed to close at 5.00 p.m. Lots of shops were boarded up and it looked very tired. Unfortunately this site has been scored off our list and we will not be back.
Good site
We stayed at Ayr cragie gardens last week. Not sure why there are some comments about the wardens, we had a lovely friendly welcome. The pitches are nice and well spaced, toilet block is a bit dated but lovely and warm. Ayr itself is very rundown and we couldn't find any good points at all.
A word to the wise, if you are travelling from England please don't follow the caravan club plan a route. This took us up the M74 and onto the A70 which was so bumpy you would have thought it was a test track. The warden told us to go back on the A76 to Dumfries, this was a much better route.
Tranquil site close to town
This is a well kept site with the staff being pleasant but not very talkative, I've met friendlier staff. The toilet block does need some upgrading but was clean.
I agree with the member who states there should be wifi provided free of charge to club members there are now lots of places provide this. Prices are not the cheapest for sites and some of the cheaper sites have better toilet blocks and provide free wifi.
Come on please think about it

Small site
Small site 10-15 min walk into Ayr. Ideal if you want to be in town location as site in housing estate, next to university. Nice riverside walks, ideal for dog. Toilets and site clean and tidy.
On tour in Scotland
We made this site our first on our tour of Scotland. The site was well kept and the wardens were very friendly. The walk into Ayr town centre only took about 25 minutes where you could find all the usual shops. Ayr itself could do with a clean up also the sea front. The only downside to this site is that the wc/shower block needs upgrading. It was always clean though.
No wi fi on the site unless you pay for it. I have stayed on affiliated sites where the wi fi is free.
Come on Caravan Club get into the modern world and provide this service. Most businesses supply free wi fi now.
Plumber Required!!!!
There is an ongoing problem with the water pressure to the ladies showers. The rest of the site, taps at service stations and washing up areas is good with adequate pressure. The wardens have told us the problem has been reported to head office. (Looking thru past posts, this problem is not just happened it has been ongoing for weeks). We are paying 'top dollar' for facilities, get a plumber here and get it fixed!!
no dogs please
stayed for 3 nights, wardens not overly friendly and don't like dogs on their site, first time given a dog behavior leaflet on booking in, thought we were a dog friendly club. Told by another dog owner that if caught dog fouling I would be told off by wardens, not to let dog pee on site. Wardens were cutting the grass which is no problem, but his attitude was not friendly, just said pulling your power whilst we cut the grass and pulled the plug and came back 1/2 hour later to put it back in, no please, wont be long, nothing, lucky wasn't cooking or recording something, doesn't take much for manners. Surrounding area good for walks, Ayr town run down, toilet block poor.
A bit disappointed
This site has certainly come down in my estimation, nothing like it was the last time we visited. Ladies toilets had several toilets that didn't flush if you went in just after it had been flushed (cisterns taking ages to refill) shower very low flow of water and wardens not over friendly. Even though there is only a few years of lease left on this site standards shouldn't have slipped to this extent.
