Yet another fantastic stay at Altnaharra. Great wardens, very friendly and happy to give advice on walks etc. Weather wasn't fantastic but managed to walk every day. With fantastic scenery and loads of wildlife to watch the weather didn't really matter. We were looking for a relaxing peaceful getaway and found it here yet again. We'll be back!
Great for families if they like getting out and about in the country side and back to nature
Having stayed frequently over many years I would point out that the water supply is not from a spring but is fed from a burn which passes under the small bridge at the end of the site. This was so up to last year I believe, I stand corrected if this has changed. The water is filtered on site, the advice was always ok if boiled but bottled water if drinking water needed.
This is a fantastic site if you like the peace and quiet and are self sufficient.
There are good facilities to empty wastes, and a water tap for drinking water fed from a spring
We were there 2 weeks ago in our motorhome at the end of March and beginning of April and had a great stay.
The track / road is very scenic for walking or cycling with only the odd vehicle passing through and runs the full 6 miles along the edge of the loch and then further
All the pitches have great views of the Loch, which you can fly fish free of charge.
The wardens are really helpful and nice people and keep the site clean
I would recommend stocking up with everything before you go as the nearest shop is 20 miles away, although there are some supplies available at the site shop, and they stock gas bottles
We will definitely be back

Lovely location, away from it all! Wardens who had only been there four days were very helpful & friendly. We really enjoyed our weekend, with great walks from site and a bit of early fly fishing in the loch.
The only negative is if you visited at a busy time of year, you could be very close to your neighbour, and some of the pitches aren't terribly flat, but don't let it put you off, a great place over all.
Wonderful wardens Ken and Laura. Site is absolute peace and quiet away from everything. Nothing better than waking up to a dawn rising over the hills behind Loch Naver. Although miles from anywhere Good meals to be had at Altnaharra hotel and Crask Inn (Booking essential for both) Spent a week here in September and would love to return.
If you are looking for the big outdoors and peace and quiet, this is the site for you. We spent 5 nights here in September 2016 and we had a totally chilled time. A lovely warm welcome from Ken and Laura and they are a great asset to the Caravan Club. Good luck to the both of you from a couple of Geordies
We stayed here on the 8th and 9th September 2016. We came upon this site by chance and we were completly taken aback by the beauty of the place. How lucky did we feel when told there was only one pitch available and we could have it. Our camper was sited overlooking Loc Naver and the views were breathtakingly beautiful. A big thumbs up to Ken and Laura for all the hard work you have done on here to make the site so lovely and for your friendly welcome. This site is a great place for nature lovers, fly fishermen, walkers, etc and for people seeking peace and quiet. We would definately return and for longer next time.
Good luck for the future, Ken and Laura.
We do hope you get what you want.
Stayed here 5 nights, no 2days the same, Excellent site for a quiet getaway! Good for the soul and recharging the batteries, Brilliant welcome from Kenny and Laura, really warm and friendly, can't thank them enough for their help, wish them luck for their next site,
Mick and Julie
We stayed at this site initially for two nights 20 and 21st August this year.
The wardens Ken and Laura were very helpful and full of good advice.
They explained why there is no toilet block but this was the only draw back.
This site is a gem, the views when you wake up until you go to bed are nothing but superb.
We decided to stay and extra night. We took our bikes and the ride into the village was great as we kept stopping to look at the changing view.
On our last night we walked the three miles to the Altnahara hotel were we had a few drinks before walking back.
The view at 11.30 pm on the Loch was breathtaking. On our last day we said good bye to Ken and Laura and felt part of the family.
I hope the Caravan club appreciate these very special people as they made our small break at this site extra special.
