Excellent site, away from any roads. Large pitches each with EHU, own water tap, drain and a picnic bench! For getting here, make sure you come from the direction of Roadford Lake as this has a better access road. Visited the Beaver colony, didn't see any, but just to see what they have done (dam, trees down etc) is amazing and set in lovely little wood. There are also Llamas to see. Owner friendly and helpful. Contactless check in and information booklet provided upon arrival. Will definitely be visiting again.
We had read up about the Beaver colony on this lovely CL so that was the attraction for us. Even though they were elusive their handiwork was obvious! Such an interesting place to visit, we really enjoyed our stay and walks on the 15 acre site.
The CL is excellent, with serviced pitches, picnic benches for each pitch, lots of green space and even a drive over motorhome point. Two pitches have good views over the countryside and all the pitches are good. Thank you!
Our first visit to Venn Farm and hopefully not our last! This is one of the best CL's we have ever stayed on. The site has fully serviced hardstanding pitches that are not directly overlooked; each one having a picnic table and a huge lawned area. A bird feeder was in view of our kitchen window which was another nice touch. We loved the on site woodland walk and especially sitting on the bench by the brook and pond. Unfortunately we didn't see the resident beavers but enjoyed watching the birdlife and especially a kingfisher! The site is immaculately kept and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We used the route mentioned on the CL owner's website avoiding going through Launceston and we were glad we did. We found it to be very straightforward with easy access from the A30. Owner Andy was very friendly and helpful. Super site!
This is one of the best CL sites we have visited.
Goes the extra mile with your own picnic table. Own grey waste and water tap.
Well maintained and very peaceful. Owner was very friendly. Very good value for money.
Will return.
This is a lovely peaceful and quiet site, with spacious pitches. We were there for two nights the last weekend of June. It’s well maintained and attention given to Covid safety. We would agree that the directions in the Caravan and Motorhome handbook need to be changed, as has already been mentioned. We were in a Motorhome and luckily another person staying at the CL told us about the alternative route past Roadford Lake. Much easier journey. We had torrential rain there one night, but there were no issues with flooding. We did have a problem with accessing the free Wi-Fi on the first day we were there, but it was fine the following day. Hope to stay there again in the future.
Very spacious site probably the best we have stayed on, I can only reiterate with the last review ie extra water hose & directions to the site.
Recommend a visit to Tintagel only approx 45 mins away, just to see the new bridge.
I agree with everything that has been said in earlier reviews so I'll not repeat everything. This CL is just perfect with a lot of attention to detail and site maintenance. There are, however, a couple of points that I would like to make that might be helpful to members.
If you are on pitch 5 the water tap is on one side of the pitch and the drain on the opposite side. This means that you may need an extension for your fresh water hose. The other point is the directions to the CL in the CaMC handbook. This guides you in from Launceston. This route can be very difficult through Launceston, especially with a caravan. There is also about a quarter of a mile long hill with a gradient of 1 in 5. This is about half a mile from the CL on a fairly narrow lane. I strongly recommend that the CL is approached from the opposite end. The roads are a lot better. Leave the A30 approximately 6 miles east of Launceston signed to Roadford Lake and Broadwoodwidger, . At the first T junction turn left and follow the road past the lake, (well worth a visit). Continue for about four miles on this road. At the next T junction turn left and follow the road for about 1½ miles. The CL is on the left. Much of this route has been totally resurfaced unlike many of the Devon roads!
Just sorry we didn't see any of the beavers (although we saw all the dams and trees they has felled). There are innumerable species of birds, many coming to the onsite feeders.
Thankyou Andy and Tina for creating and maintaining such a fantastic CL.
It really is quite difficult to think of what could be done to improve this site. The location is peaceful and quiet with beautiful views to both Cornwall and Devon. The immaculately maintained fully serviced pitches are large and well spaced. Each with its own picnic bench and some screening to provide further separation. There are several well maintained woodland walks and you might even be lucky enough to glimpse one of the resident beavers. Our arrival was easy and well organised. The COVID “hands-free” arrival means there was no personal greeting, however the owner Andrew is quick introduce himself and offer a welcome when sanitising each pitch when vacated and other common touch points. The site is ideally placed to make visits easy to all that these two counties have to offer from the north coast to the south coast and all that is in between. We found ourselves though very happy to return from our daily explorations to relax and enjoy this most enjoyable of temporary homes, one we will look to find an excuse to return to very soon.
This is the best CL I have ever been on. Fantastic facilities with fully serviced pitches. A very peaceful site with lovely walks in the woods and beavers! We saw plenty of evidence of these shy animals but never got to see them. I have just left this site and have booked two further visits in the next few months, hopefully I will spot a beaver next time. I would suggest the alternative route on venn farm website which takes you past Roadford Lake as it avoids Launceston, which is a nightmare towing a caravan.
Thank you Andy and Tina
