Great site with perfect facilities as stated. Good welcome and great walks. Unfortunately did not see the Beavers this time but will just have to come back.
Owner Andy planned this site thoughtfully from scratch, even down to planting the now mature adjacent woodland.
You need to be a self-contained unit as there are no toilets or showers. That is reflected in the price. There are other welcome touches to compensate. Each pitch has its own water tap, EHU point, grey waste facility, brick barbecue, picnic table and hard standing. The free wi-fi worked well. I also enjoyed watching all the activity on a busy bird feeder with great tits, woodpeckers and a nuthatch competing with a squirrel. Everyone got their share.
Venn Farm’s situation is very rural and most pleasant. There are no nearby shops, pubs or villages of any size so stock up before arrival. All in all, an excellent site.
The best site we have ever stayed on. Fully serviced facilities and set in idyllic location with lovely woodland walks and the added excitement of seeing beavers and their lodges. They were quite elusive but we managed to see and video one of them swimming late in the evening. Dartmoor / Bude and Tintagel were all visited during our stay. The site is beautifully maintained by the owner who is very helpful and friendly. Can’t wait to return again
We stayed for 2 nights towards the end of May. A quiet and peaceful site and so lovely waking up to birdsong in the morning. Spacious pitches with water tap, brick bbq and picnic bench. Lovely dog walk and although we didn’t see the beavers we saw their handiwork. Will definitely stay again going to or coming back from Cornwall.
Wow, what a fabulous CL, now become our new favourite. Very peaceful, lots of space around fully serviced pitches on an immaculately kept site, that the owners obviously take pride in. Terrific short strolls around their own woods and interesting to see what the Beavers create. Access fine, with a large twin axle caravan, with only a couple of cheeky spots with passing places as you near the site. Follow the directions on the website (repeated on their own website) and go via Roadford Resevoir. Do not go via Launceston and approach the site from the west unless you are in a small VW type camper van. Terrific value and we'll definitely try and return.
We had a break over the May Bank holiday. What a find. Peace, tranquility, views, spotless, easy to find and access. Even though the weather was not the best, this site was perfect. It is spotless and very well maintained. We will most definitely return! Thank you
Venn Farm - totally glorious. The site itself is beautifully well kept. Fantastic facilities for a CL site. Wonderful dog walks - secure paddock and super woods to walk in - along with observing where the Beavers are present - sadly didn’t see any. Owners incredibly helpful and very warming. Good position for visiting other areas of Devon and Cornwall. Will definitely return. Totally 5 star site. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Venn Farm is An Excellent Gem of a Site. It is so Well Presented and Maintained to the Highest Standard. The Owner is so Friendly Helpful and on Hand if you should need His Help. The Woodland walk is so magical and full of Dragonflies that Dart and Flit around You. The Wildlife Pond is so Tranquil to sit by. There are signs of the work The Beavers have done, but they are Very Elusive. I can Highly Recommend Venn Farm. The pitches are large and well spaced, with water, EHU & Grey water drain. The sky at night is so amazing on a clear night, with the full galaxy of Stars on View.
An excellent well priced CL with 5 widely spaced and generous hard standing pitches, each with their own fresh water, EHU, grey water disposal, brick bbq and picnic bench. The site has a central track, motorhome service point and good recycling, black water disposal, TV and Wi-Fi. It is surrounded by attractive trees, bushes and fields and includes a private wood to walk around with a dell and stream used by a local beaver colony. A useful trifold leaflet on the site is given on arrival. Peace and ambience make this a great place to chill out for a few days. However, for those like us who don’t drive off-site, the opportunity to explore is limited. There are no bus services and all longer walks involve roads e.g. to the nearest pubs at St Giles on the Heath (1.6 miles) and Ashwater (3.6 miles), which were both closed when we wanted to visit. Two short local footpaths to Virginstow were good but we found the longer footpath from Virginstow to Bradaford and a bridleway that cuts across the top of the Roadford Reservoir to be impassable to all but the most determined. Turning right out of the site, the road to the Roadford Reservoir visitor centre & café (5.4 miles) was good to cycle (carpark £2.50). We used this route to the A30 when we left with our motorhome.
Absolutely lovely little CL. Kept very tidy and has everything you could want with serviced pitches tables and bbq's. The dog walk from site is just lovely. Definitely the best we have stayed on and will definitely return
