Two night break

Just returned from a very pleasant two night stay. Very good communications from the start and easy to book via email. We were met on arrival by Chris, the owner, who showed us to our pitch. We were not on the main CL field at the front but on hard standing round the back of the barn. These are better pitches in my opinion as they have uninterrupted views across the fields. EHU, water and bins easily accessible. There’s one toilet and washing up sink a bit of a walk away but it was clean and functional. The elsan point is near the entrance to the farm opposite the CL field so a bit further away when you’re on hard standing. Lots of walks straight from the site which is good as the main road can get a bit busy and there isn’t a footpath. We walked to the Grantham canal and then in both directions from there. The cafe in Hickling is lovely with lots of outside and inside seating. There’s the farm shop on site which was well stocked and also the chocolate cafe too (didn’t go in there but looked nice and was certainly popular). All in all a great CL just 35mins from home!

Safe and quiet

Unfortunately I was on my own for this trip as hubby was working so I needed somewhere I felt safe and this little CL exceeded my expectations. Great communication and a warm welcome from Chris. Lovely little paddock with free WIFI, running water and EHU, totally secure with easy access to the fields for dog walking, the tearoom/ chocolaterie, well stocked farm shop, plant nursery and a caravan club only loo! Adults only so no kids running about. Thoroughly enjoyed my 4 nights and I will most definitely be back to enjoy more peace and tranquillity, might even bring the hubby! Highly recommend the lovely little CL.

Gem of a site

This is a gem of a site, but don’t tell anyone! Lovely setting in beautiful countryside. Well marked walks from site through local fields, to Hickling and along the Grantham canal. Great local pub (The Plough) in walking distance. Quiet, peaceful good for dog walking. Incredibly friendly and helpful owners. Farm shop and small chocolatier next to site. Own water, electric and free wifi. We’ve been to many sites big and small but this has become our favourite to escape and recharge our batteries !!

A brilliant little site

Peace - wonderful views across the fields. Fantastic high quality farm shop and cafe onsite. Chris the owner is really helpful and a font of knowledge. Plough Inn just half mile walk down the road (opposite Wharf cafe which serves really good breakfasts). Also start of the Grantham Canal tow path which is brilliant for safe cycling. The site itself is very level, electric hookup cable provided makes it so easy, tap at the bay and also 2 bins for recycling/general waste. There is a single toilet and washing facility which could do with refurbishing and cleaning up. No shower. Easy reach of a fantastic wild flower nursery and close to Cropwell Bishop Creamery and cafe. All in all a brilliant place to get away for a few days relaxation.

Another Peaceful Break

This was our second visit to this lovely peaceful site All your amenities are on your pitch even 2 bins 1 for recycling There is a great farm shop on site with great local produce, and has essential s if you forget anything There’s an excellent chocolatier cafe on site also which we always patronise Chris the owner gives you an array of local walks direct from the site with some of them encompassing the local Grantham canal, which is disused but because of this it is teeming with wildlife and wild flowers, plus the path is in great condition This has become one if not our very favourite site, well done to the owners!

Peace and Tranquility

Such a peaceful site, we were the first outfit this year to pitch on grass. We had a view of sheep in the field next door, each pitch has their own water tap . Chris is always about and is very helpful. The Cafe/ Chocolatier next door and Farm Shop are very useful. There are 2 dog walks direct from site across the fields, with maps/ directions provided. All in all an excellent site which we will use again if we are in the area.

Glorious

Firstly, Chris is such a lovely man. Very helpful and kind. Grove Farm is the loveliest cl site we've been to. Fantastic views over the fields (at the rear hardstandings). Public footpath for a walk to Hinkley and the cafe in the basin, together with the village pub. The site is clean, specious abd relaxing when we arrived the front CL was still muddy due to severe rain we've all experienced recently. Chris put us at tge rear with magnificent views. We had our own water tap, bins and great WiFi. The site has a toilet and facilities to was up. An added bonus is the small farm shop, cafe and garden nursery. The weather fir our week was truly glorious and we left with heavy hearts wishing we could have stayed longer. We've been 3 times now; we'll be back....soon!

Excellent site and owner

Easy to find site and excellent facilities. Chris was not there when we arrived but was there within a few minutes of phoning him. He put us on a hard standing pitch due to the amount of rain there had been and it was perfect with our own water and electricity supplies and beautiful views across fields Chris was always available should we have needed him. The toilet which was available was spotless and there was also a chocolatier/cafe not far from where we had pitched plus a farm shop. Would definitely return when next in the area. Highly recommended.

What a site, what service

We stayed on this site in October on the way back from the Norfolk Broads. We thought that we had followed the directions but we took the first turning off the A46 travelling south signed Kinoulton, then we turned into Kinoulton Lane - sounds logical! Unfortunately this lane is plagued with potholes and we duly hit one and our motor mover jammed onto the nearside tyre. What now? We phoned the site and Chris came out immediately to help, saw what the problem was and went to get tools. He managed to get the motor mover off the tyre and reset it and then led us to his site. Now, you just don't get this level of service and help everyday and this was on the day after he had celebrated his Golden Wedding anniversary. The site is excellent, we went on the hard standing round the back of the barn as there had been a lot of rain previously; that suited us fine as we were straight out onto the walks and our 2 dogs loved it. The views are great, the walks Chris gave us are very good. Chris was always around if needed. The CL proper (all grass) was well laid out, water to each pitch and well tended. We travelled around quite a bit and it is a lovely area; our daughter lives in West Bridgford and it was really quick and easy to get there. We will certainly stay here again but we won't go down Kinoulton Lane again; A606 and into Hickling is the best way. Thank you Chris for coming to our rescue and for keeping a truly excellent CL. Brilliant!

We stayed here for five nights over August Bank Holiday. We cannot fault and the place is a credit to Chris and Jan. We booked well in advance using email. We were answered promptly and efficiently. The week leading upto our stay and on arrival day Chris contacted us by text to check arrival times etc., all spot on. When we arrived we were not on the main CL as we are a heavy motorhome, and Chris’ grass was far too immaculate for us to ruin. Chris guided us around to far side of greenhouse onto a hardstanding area but with grass, own tap and bins. Plus a little further back from road (not that it is busy or intrusive road), and lovely open countryside views, so we were delighted. We were near the car park for the Chocolatier cafe/shop, plant shop and newly opened farm shop but didn’t feel uncomfortable and not unduly bothered by these businesses. We could also watch the parachutes from Langar airport practising their jumps from planes. Chris was an impeccable host, regularly checking up on us but not intrusive, offering home grown tomatoes and cucumbers. He was a star as he lent us a ladder to facilitate a repair we had to do. The toilet was spot on - immaculately kept and checked daily. Only thing to be aware the toilet is not right next to main CL field, and is a little walk to get to it. The footpaths and walking opportunities in the area are extensive especially with the canal which we informed does go all the way to Nottingham one way, and Grantham the other. The Wharf cafe in the village is excellent, and also do yummy take out cakes too. Chocolatier is also well worth popping in. Farm shop was in its first week but lady who runs it farms in the village and is planning to get her own meat into shop soon. The bacon we did get was superb. All in all as it says at top - brilliant- highly recommend.
