What a gem

We are on our way to Scotland from the south coast and have spent 3 nights in this lovely CL. We were met on arrival by Chris the owner who gave us detailed laminated sheets of local places of interest. The site is a large flat well manicured grass area with each of the 5 pitches having their own water and electricity supply. I can't comment on shower and toilet facilities as we prefer to use our own. The site is within easy reach of a park and ride for Nottingham and the steam railway at Loughborough is a short drive away. Yes we will be back.

A Real Gem

People that book this site are asked to ring Chris (the owner) approximately 30 minutes before arrival to ensure that he is there to greet you. On arrival you are met with an extremely smart gated grass paddock with the whole site being very smart with easy access and egress. Each pitch had its own water supply which was a bonus, there was a nearby chemical disposal and recycycling area. Caravan Club members also have access to a toilet and wash up area. The site is in the countryside and sits between the villages of Kinoulton and Hickling. On arrival Chris provides you with plasticised sheets with essential and useful contact information and also one of a series of differing walks that can be accomplished. On site there is Sarsfields, a wonderful choclatier and tea rooms, Sofie’s Flowers and Gardens by Joseph which was not yet up and running. Down the road in Hickling, there are tea rooms and the Plough Inn by the canal. This is a wonderful area for cycling, and there are plenty of them!! Chris is always busying himself around the site and is easy to talk to if you want anything or just to pass the time of day, his wife Jan also likes to check that everything is ok with your stay and again is very pleasant to talk to. We enjoyed ourselves so much here that we extended our stay. It was also very nice to have a text message on the way home to apologise for missing us on our departure (we’d had to leave early due to the length of journey). We’d like to think Chris and Jan for their hospitality and if we’re in the area again we love to stay.

What a lovely C.L.this is.

We have just spent 6 lovely nights at Grove Farm,we received a very warm welcome from Chris who was waiting for us after we rang to say we were close by as Chris had requested ,the site has a locked gate to which you are given a key and leaflets on various walks and important telephone numbers etc.Chris also made a point of saying goodbye and wishing us a safe journey. The site is well kept grass mown on regular basis, water and electric to each pitch ,waste water goes to water the trees via your waste pipe. There is a toilet and sink for washing up should you want them ,they are spotlessly clean and there is hand sanitiser at the gate, toilet and bin /toilet emptying area ,which my husband said was the best he has seen. There is a lovely coffee shop 5 minutes walk at Hickling canal basin where you can sit and watch the various water fowl. We will certainly be returning again.

Peaceful place!

Our second time here, and I’m sure we’ll be back. Lovely level site with water, electrics to each pitch and run waste water off to the small trees nearby. Chris is so welcoming, not intrusive at all but will check regularly that all is ok. Also at the rear of the farm is Sophie’s Flower& Gift shop (couple of nice gifts purchased), Sarsfield - Chocolate Maker & Cafe - nice too, and a new starter - Joseph’s Plants, not fully running yet, but plants and variety looked great. A great 6 days! Thanks Chris, keep on doing exactly as you do, cheers Alan & Jan Cooper + Dave & Mo’ Wainwright of Hull.

We have just spent 7 nights at Grove Farm CL and we were delighted with the welcome, and the site overall.

Chris met us on arrival and couldn’t do enough for us. It was a pleasure to roll up and get a lovely welcome. The pitches were flat and well mown with a tap for each pitch and run off for waste water to the trees behind. The village of Hickling has a pub and a cafe on the old canal wharf. The pub in Konulton has closed so little going on in the village. Lovely walks and wonderful country side for all. 5 Stars from us Liz & Mike.

Definitely on our favourite list

The site is immaculate, it is clear that Chris takes a lot of pride in the presentation of the site. Local information about places of interest, pubs, walks, etc all available on returnable laminated sheets. Each pitch has its own water supply, grey waste goes to water the trees. The site is secure with a locked gate. The chocolatier/coffee shop on site we give 5 star rating with its bespoke chocolate and delicious food. Also an award winning florist on site. Beautiful area to explore in the Vale of Belvoir/ Grantham canal. The food in the Plough in Hickling is highly recommended. Hearty pub food, good pint, just want we wanted after 18 holes of golf at the nearby Six hills golf course. Thankyou Chris and Jan for making us feel very welcome. We will certainly be returning to your lovely site.

Great site for visiting the Vale of Belvoir

This is a really well maintained, level site with good access from a relatively quiet road. Water supply on each pitch is a bonus, as is Wi-Fi. Chris has made sure everything has been considered, including laminated walk suggestions and other helpful information. The on-site cafe/chocolaterie is also great. We used the site for a week of walking the Grantham Canal and it was great that this is easily accessed within a short walk of the site. If only all CLs were like this one.

What Cl caravanning is all about

We had visited Grove Farm a couple of years ago and were so happy and relaxed during our stay we wanted to return. Chris as always, is friendly, helpful and kind. We knew what to do on arrival as he'd let us know by text. The pitches are lovely and now are fully serviced, as each one has its on water tap and grey water can be emptied around the trees. The backdrop of nursery, flower shop and tearooms fits in so sympathetically with the views over the fields. Two pubs at either end of the site offer great food; the old wharf tearooms/cafe is a must for visitors. Set on the canal, easily walked from the site, is a popular place for cyclists and visitors. A tranquil, friendly site not to missed.
