another lovely stay

Once again another lovely stay. Due to the previous rain and the forecast of rain during our stay, we were on hard standing rather than the usual grass site. However, this gave us a different view and we were able to sit and watch the parachutists descending in the distance. We also watched kestrels during the day and saw a barn owl at night. It was lovely to hear skylarks. We had some nice walks from the site, to the local pubs (Hickling Basin and Kinoulton) and also walked to Vimy Ridge Farm which although now derelict has an interesting history together with the Lombardy Popular avenue planted originally as a living war memorial. The toilet is very clean. The nursery has lovely plants some of which came home with us. We will be returning to stay.

So Welcoming

Just had our second visit to Grove Farm, We were met at the gate by Chris who greeted us after we had called him to say we were almost there & he told us which pitches were available, Chris is always around should you have any problems., there is a lovely clean toilet & a locked gate to the site to which you are given a key and leaflets of nearby walks he still has hand sanitiser all around. The site is so peaceful with sheep that at the moment have lambs, we were fortunate enough to see hares when out on one of our walks very close to the site.Just down the road a short walk or slightly longer walk if you go via the canal walk [ see leaflet ] is the canal basin with a lovely coffee shop where if the weather is nice you can sit outside and watch ducks & swans, inside seating is also available. Thanks for another lovely stay Chris we hope to return again soon. Mike & Joan

A lovely welcome!

We have just spent the best part of a week at this lovely CL. Upon our arrival, Chris welcomed us with homegrown tomatoes and a cucumber! The CL was ideally located for visiting the area - Space Centre and King Richard III visitor centre at Leicester (use the P&R), Melton Mowbray (home of the pork pie), Belvoir Castle (which we could see in the distance from the site), the Great Central Railway and of course much more locally, Cropwell Bishop and Colston Bassett creameries for Stilton cheese. Everything was kept spotless, and Chris was always on hand should we have needed anything, which thankfully, we didn't. There are some lovely walks from the CL in all directions, with printed directions available. At all times, the CL is very quiet, so if it's R&R you're after, you'll get it here. Another gem in the CL chain, and being not far from home, one that we will certainly be returning to. Thank you Chris and Jan!

Lovely we’ll kept site

Stayed for a week and could easily have stayed longer, we were met by Chris the owner after notifying him of our arrival time. Chris gave us our gate key and our pitch location, water and electric on each pitch the grey water we were told to use to water the trees behind the van as they’ve hardly had any rainfall. Lovely clean toilet and washing up sink near by. The site is very well kept by Chris and as a lovely gesture he came round with fresh tomatoes he’d grown and wouldn’t take payment. Would definitely recommend if your looking for somewhere in this area and it’s only a short drive to lots of attractions in the area, we used the park and ride at Cosgrave about 5 miles away to go to Nottingham. Would definitely use again, thank you Chris.

Lovely Site

We have stayed at this lovely CL several times now and it never disappoints. We always receive a warm welcome from owner Chris. The site is exceptionally well kept and Sarsfields Choclatirier and Sophie's flower shop on this spacious site are a real bonus. The walks direct from Grove Farm are enjoyable for both us and our dogs. The village pub and tea room is a easy walk away.

What a gem

We are on our way to Scotland from the south coast and have spent 3 nights in this lovely CL. We were met on arrival by Chris the owner who gave us detailed laminated sheets of local places of interest. The site is a large flat well manicured grass area with each of the 5 pitches having their own water and electricity supply. I can't comment on shower and toilet facilities as we prefer to use our own. The site is within easy reach of a park and ride for Nottingham and the steam railway at Loughborough is a short drive away. Yes we will be back.

A Real Gem

People that book this site are asked to ring Chris (the owner) approximately 30 minutes before arrival to ensure that he is there to greet you. On arrival you are met with an extremely smart gated grass paddock with the whole site being very smart with easy access and egress. Each pitch had its own water supply which was a bonus, there was a nearby chemical disposal and recycycling area. Caravan Club members also have access to a toilet and wash up area. The site is in the countryside and sits between the villages of Kinoulton and Hickling. On arrival Chris provides you with plasticised sheets with essential and useful contact information and also one of a series of differing walks that can be accomplished. On site there is Sarsfields, a wonderful choclatier and tea rooms, Sofie’s Flowers and Gardens by Joseph which was not yet up and running. Down the road in Hickling, there are tea rooms and the Plough Inn by the canal. This is a wonderful area for cycling, and there are plenty of them!! Chris is always busying himself around the site and is easy to talk to if you want anything or just to pass the time of day, his wife Jan also likes to check that everything is ok with your stay and again is very pleasant to talk to. We enjoyed ourselves so much here that we extended our stay. It was also very nice to have a text message on the way home to apologise for missing us on our departure (we’d had to leave early due to the length of journey). We’d like to think Chris and Jan for their hospitality and if we’re in the area again we love to stay.

What a lovely C.L.this is.

We have just spent 6 lovely nights at Grove Farm,we received a very warm welcome from Chris who was waiting for us after we rang to say we were close by as Chris had requested ,the site has a locked gate to which you are given a key and leaflets on various walks and important telephone numbers etc.Chris also made a point of saying goodbye and wishing us a safe journey. The site is well kept grass mown on regular basis, water and electric to each pitch ,waste water goes to water the trees via your waste pipe. There is a toilet and sink for washing up should you want them ,they are spotlessly clean and there is hand sanitiser at the gate, toilet and bin /toilet emptying area ,which my husband said was the best he has seen. There is a lovely coffee shop 5 minutes walk at Hickling canal basin where you can sit and watch the various water fowl. We will certainly be returning again.
