Lovely site, good base for touring the borders

Lovely site, easy to get to and a great base for visiting Jedburgh, Hawick and Kelso. The pitches are well laid out and the views are great. There are several farm walks to do which are well signposted. We did need levellers. Will definitely be back again - and will try some of the longer walks !

BEST SITE WE HAVE STAYED ON

Brilliant site, good walking in the area, the owners have made some really good walks on the farm. Hose reel for filling motorhome so didn't have to unwind own hose, will defiantly go there again

A very nice place to pull in for an overnight or longer stay

A nice quite place to pull over for a night or longer , working farm but not much noise to contend with , services are fine on ptches and have good hard standing. Views across the countryside are stunning and if you like an early morning call from the local Barn Owls even better . ( Not all ways available) . No problems getting into site just of the A68

Excellent site, well worth a visit.

Really enjoyed our 6 night stay at the site, beautiful setting with some good dog walks straight from the door. This is a working farm so it is important to bear that in mind as on some occasions some areas will not be accessible. Ideal for accessing local attractions and not far from Jedburgh town itself. For a peaceful and tranquil stay would highly recommend it.

A Beautiful Site

The views from the site are wonderful and it is peaceful and easy to access. Great walks with our dogs around the farm are well described and signposted nicely. Communication with Lucy is timely and efficient. A top class CL, hopefully we will be back sometime.

Very accommodating owner

We originally contacted Lucy by text (if ringing the landline have a pen at hand for the mobile number). We ideally wanted a pitch for nights of 18th and 19th September, as we wanted to be in situ for the Queen's funeral. A reply text came through. No availability for the Sunday but she could accommodate us on the Monday and Tuesday nights. Following my reply Lucy rang me and said that if we wished to come early on the Monday morning we could pitch up if the pitch was free - if not free we were more than welcome to park in the "steadings" (farm yard) as long as we weren't requiring ehu. She also took my email address so she could email me the confirmation and means of payment. I checked on the morning of our arrival if it was still ok for us to arrive at 1030 as we were only travelling from Hawick. It was. When we arrived the occupants of our allocated pitch were still in situ so we parked up behind one of the farm buildings. The only time we saw Lucy was a distant figure giving us the thumbs up that we were parked in the correct place. By mid afternoon the pitch was free and at a convenient time to us we moved on to our pitch. It wasn't until we were set up that we realised we had driven straight past the water point situated on the LHS just past the entrance. Driving on the grass is discouraged so motorhome owners are advised to have a long enough hose (which we have). Fortunately we had enough water and could top up if necessary with our watering can. The grey/black waste area is in the opposite corner of the site - opposite pitch # 5. Fortunately on our departure we were able to reverse up to the waste disposal corner, attach our waste hose to our disposal pipe on the motorhome, and discharge our grey waste that way. The confirmation email we received also included a WiFi code. When we were parked up behind the farm buildings the code was useless - so as we were watching the funeral on iPlayer (we don't have a tv in the motorhome) - we relied on our mobile data for access to the internet. Once we were on the pitch the WiFi was still pretty "hit and miss", so I think we ended up watching the rest of the funeral using my husband's phone data. We never got a "welcome" as such from the owners (other than the thumbs up). All the information regarding the site was on a notice board. We did get a follow up email when we left thanking us for our stay etc. Jedburgh itself is a 20 minute e-cycle up the A68 (not as busy as it could have been) - but we still opted to find ourselves an alternative route back (which we did) albeit that a couple of hundred meters of it was on a bridleway! Jedburgh is definitely worth visiting. The Abbey is half price at the moment (as are the Abbeys at Melrose, Kelso and Dryburgh) due to the risk of falling masonry. The Castle (jail) and Mary Queen of Scots house are also both worth visiting - admission to both is free or by voluntary donation. Parking in the town is free for all types of vehicles.

Great site, nice dog walking

We stayed for one night in Aug on our way through the borders. Didn't see the owners as we booked online but had all the info sent through then a further message the day before telling us of walks etc.(so not a problem). Lovely tidy site with scenic views. Good local dog walks. Would definatley return when in area again.

Great site and warm welcome

We stayed here for a couple of nights after visiting Jedburgh. The site is well managed and we were given a warm welcome, and it is very peaceful and has beautiful views. It is ideal for caravans but motorhomes should note the following: that the only water tap is on your entry, but it is well designed with a long hose that reaches the driveway; that a few of the pitches are seriously sloping, so you will need ramps if you want to be level; that there is no drive over grey water disposal. Having said that, though, we had a great stay and were made very welcome, and the points noted are not at all unreasonable on a CL. We would happily visit such a pleasant site again.

One night of peace and quiet

We stayed at Bairnkine on our way back from Barnard Castle and were pleasantly impressed with the site. It was so relaxing, peaceful and with great views too! We will be back.

The Bros

A beautiful, quiet site on a working farm. We were given a warm welcome from the friendly owners Lucy & Matt and plenty of information on local walks. We were even invited to watch the sheep shearing, which made my day. There are plenty of places to visit in the area, not forgetting the beautiful sunsets to see.
