Just back from a 3 night stay at Splash farm with my husband and 2 children, we arrived in the snow!! . The site is well laid out and the owner's have spent a lot of time and effort on it. Details of where to pitch were attached to the main gate and owner called later on to see if we were ok. Lovely quiet site with great views and near to Matlock and it's attractions. Fresh water , Grey waste and chemical emptying point all easy to find and in immaculate condition during our stay. We had a great break and would definitely stay here again.
Hidden Gem
We arrived in our caravan late at night, the site isnt easy to find in the dark, but its a little gem when you find it. The views are wonderful and the site itself is one of the best CL's we have stopped at. Each pitch is sectioned off with your own little private area and its own electric hook up. I agree with the previous review, the downside is not having a village easily walkable but it didnt bother us to drive there and the local pub is only 5 minutes drive and well worth a visit at the "Jug and Glass" with lovely log fires and woodburning stoves. There is public transport only 10 minutes walk away. We walked from the site into Matlock Bath. Through Bow wood and over the fields. It was only 2.5 miles but took us an hour as it was a scenic route but beautiful as the sun was shining too. A real welcome. The owners of the site were really helpful and friendly. We will definatly go back. If you are looking for somewhere for peace and quiet with wonderful views. This is it!
Lovely little site
This was our first trip to a CL with our new caravan, loved it!
Peaceful and tranquil, lovely views of hills. There was a note on the gate when we arrived telling us where to pitch up, all self explanatory. TV reception great with onsite dishes. We weren't bothered by anyone all our of stay which was brilliant.
Overall a very pleasant experience and will certainly be returning in the near future.
Only downside for us was we had to drive to the pub as too far to walk but this didn't put us off! Oh and Matlock was heaving so we didn't go there. Lovely little brewery in Wirksworth £2 a pint at the weekends.
