Great way to see Rosslyn Chapel and Roslin Glen

Booked in for two days Sat\Sun. Good site, lovely greeting on arrival from owner. Facilities are fine and pitches are almost level and large. Great walks from site in Roslin Glen and visit to Rosslyn Chapel was special as my wife attended Sunday service where she was made welcome and she stated the service was lovely and special. Great place to be able to visit Edinburgh and good location for a stopover when travelling.

June 2024

Unlike the last review we only had five pitches taken during our stay, which must have been almost at the same time ! Truth be told those five pitches are quite tightly accommodated within the fairly compact footprint of the site, though each pitch comprises a hard standing with electrics so there is a clear demarcation to give everyone the maximum space within what’s available. The site approach is very straightforward, the only slight squeeze is as you come in through the gateway itself. Grass is kept close cut, and services are all easily found and functional. The loo is clean and handy for when you are arriving or departing. The site owner was very helpful, and well organised. The site is very quiet and well sheltered, a haven from the hurly burly of sightseeing in Edinburgh itself. The bus service is walking distance away. There really isn’t anything to fault !

Two many vans overcrowded

We stayed here for 4 nights it is not a very large site and there were 6 vans every night during our stay. We use CL’s as we like the 5 van rule which makes for a peaceful stay. Not very good views from site as there is a yard adjacent. Used it to Visit Roslyn wish we had only booked a couple of nights.

All you need

Everything you could need from a CL. It’s very easy to find and access, with several areas of hard standing. We had torrential rain and the grass was sodden, but there was enough hard standing for this to not be a problem. The site is a 2 minute walk from Rosslyn Chapel, if you’re into that kind of thing (we didn’t bother). There’s a good Asda a few miles down the road, along with M&S Food Hall and other shops. If you want to get the bus into town, there’s an hourly service from the stop just at the junction (4 minute walk). Finally, good walks from the door down into Roslin Glen. Oh, and the site has a toilet - only cold water and no soap but better than nothing. Not bad for £23/night.

Great site!

I stayed here for two nights in order to visit Edinburgh. Nice site with decent facilities and hardstandings - everything you'd expect from a CL. The site is located adjacent to Rosslyn Chapel, which is famous because of Dan Brown's 'Da Vinci Code' - a great place to visit, although, sadly, our priority was Edinburgh and we couldn't do both! Easy site to get into and out of, being just a few miles from the ring road. The bus into Edinburgh stop just along the road from the site and costs very little. It's a the best part of an hour on the bus, but simple and convenient. If you're planning a visit to Edinburgh, this site will serve you well.

Ideal site, great location

Excellent little site, well looked after and in an ideal location. Just a short walk away to bus stop with frequent service into Edinburgh and beyond. Short car drive away is huge retail park for all your shopping needs. Very pleasant owner, added bonus of toilet on site. Definitely recommended, great price and thanks for a very pleasant stay

Great CL Site

4 nights July 2023 6m Campervan Stayed 4 nights as we were meeting friends from USA in Edinburgh. Everything you need and would expect from a CL site contrary to the review from Moonraker in April, who perhaps change his name to MOANraker 22 as it would appear that wherever they go they are never happy. Ideally situated for local walks, pub, tearoom and bus into Edinburgh. Booked in advance and arrived about 5pm, pitched up and were happy with everything. First night 6 units, second night 6 units, last 2 nights 5 units. Plenty of space for every unit and everyone was happy. Owners Robin and Moira are a great couple and as always gave a warm welcome Would highly recommend Will be back

Campervan 2 night stay

We stayed largely as we wanted to head into Edinburgh for a day to visit the National Museum. Site well kept. I note other reviews that mention over occupation, no problems whilst we were there, 3 vans the first night, 5 the second. Facilities were fine, and a toilet available on site. Owner friendly, not difficult to find in order to pay. There is a larger site next to the CL so just need to be aware to go into the right spot. Again, note from other reviews a narrow road down, I have to say it's absolutely fine, not a long road, a large passing place half way, and would be straightforward to reverse if needed. Site very good value, sometimes not sure what folk expect from a CL! Next to Rosslyn Chapel but be aware you need to book, it's not open access. Bus stop a few minutes walk away, bus direct to the centre, very regular, took about 50 minutes each way. Great value, especially of one or both of you have a bus pass, only £2 each way if not. Highly likely to use the site again, definitely recommend.

Ignores CL rules and overbooks

Apart from the great location near to the Rosslyn Chapel, this is very ordinary, though decently maintained. BUT - there were SIX vans on the CL, one on the fresh water tap bay blocking it for others and almost nose to nose with ours. When I asked the owner why more than five on a CAMC CL, he smiled and said “I canna count!” I said CAMC members can count, he replied that he gets non-arrivals so overbooks. Maybe he should take a deposit, and stop taking cash (undeclared maybe?). All left a bad feeling, and would not want to recommend.

Excellent CL

We stayed at this CL for 7 nights. The pitches are hardstanding and fairly well spaced out. The owners met us on arrival and were lovely people. The site is a stone throw from Rosslyn Chapel and the bus route into Edinburgh is a short walk away in Roslin where there are shops and pubs. Access to the site is very good. The site is very well kept and the chemical and grey waste facilities are very good. Dog walking is good. The only minor issue was that the owner had 6 outfits on each night we were there. I would highly recommend this CL and intend to visit again next year.
