Great for visiting Edinburgh
This was not our first visit to Slatebarns, it is now our go to location when we want to have a few days in Edinburgh. It is a great little site, not big but the pitches are well spaced, so you never feel crowded. All the pitches are hard standing, in amongst beautiful mowed grass.
Getting into Edinburgh could not be simpler, just walk back to the village and catch the number 37 bus, or take the car down to Straiton P&R and catch the much quicker X37 (which only runs on weekdays, early morning and early evening). Lothian buses have a ticketing app which is simple to use, however the buses will accept contactless payment for single adult tickets.
One mention for the Original Rosslyn Inn, which is near the junction for Chapel Loan. The food is superb, with generous servings and great value for money. The beer is great as well.
