Everything Nearby Yet Peaceful

So much is on the doorstep: Really good woodland walks 150m from the gate, the village is only 5 minutes walk with shops, café and pub, Rosslyn Chapel about 50m and Roslin castle also very close. There are some interesting ruins to be found when walking round Roslin Glen Country Park. The site isn't huge, but it was very peaceful when we were there and the owner was extremely welcoming and friendly. We'll be recommending this site to friends, and we will be back.

hidden gem

What a superb site, run by a very friendly helpful couple, adjacent to Roslyn Chapel and a 5 minute walk from the village, which has a pub restaurant and a café. the bus stops outside these for buses to Edinburgh and Penicuik. There are plenty of walks through Roslyn Glen. This is definitely a site we would use again when we are in the area, all pitches are hardstanding with EHU's and there is a toilet on the site, an absolute gem of a site

June Visit

We spent 5 nights on this fine site. Although we had very heavy rain on day and the site was flooded for a while the water soon disappeared, and as all the pitches are hardstanding there were no problems.  There are walks down in Roslin Glen and along the old railway track towards Edinburgh, which is also a cycle way all the way into the city. For the more serious walker and mountain-bike rider the Pentland Hills are a short drive away. The nearest supermarket is Asda, 2 mls away along side an Ikea superstore. Would recommend this site for anyone wanting to visit Edinburgh, as the bus to the city is only 1/4 ml away.

Great base.

I may be a bit biased as I grew up in Roslin. This is a lovely little CL right beside the Chapel. The pitches are all hard standing and the grounds are well kept. Mr Crawford came out to meet us on arrival to make sure everything was OK. There is a WC on site, and lots of local information. The addition of a shower would make this a fantastic CL.  There is a big site next door which is open April until October but I think the CL is better especially at £12 a night. The big site re-opened last year and was formerly a Caravan Club site. Roslin has the expected local pubs and shops and there are larger shops a short distance away. It can get busy at the Chapel which can make access a bit awkward.  Other than that it is straight forward to find. Just continue past the chapel and round the corner. Watch the turn out the CL field on the way out as it is a bit tight with a large van so care is needed. The advantage of this CL and the big site is that you can still get a bus into Edinburgh about 200m walk from the site. Unlike Edinburgh Caravan Club site.

We stayed in January 2014 and it was cold. The van was nice and cosy though.

Good quiet base for Edinburgh area

Stayed for 5 nights, although farm buildings nearby it was very peaceful, especially during night. Easy access to park & ride and plenty of large shopping outlets 2 mins away (Ikea great for redesigning your house on a wet afternoon). Rosling Glen is a lovely walk, beware though after rain as mucky in parts, and lots of fallen trees to scramble over/under. Owners could fit a ramp beside steps for rolling water containers up & down, but otherwise excellent base. Lots of other towns to discover, walking & cycling closeby.

Excellent CL, perfectly maintained, well equipped and situated

This site is very peaceful and sheltered set in a well drained grassed area which has been attractively and sympathetically landscaped. The pitches are on flat gravelled hardstandings with conveniently located electrical hookups (not requiring extra long wiring as not too far away). The owners are very pleasant, friendly and helpful. From the site you can see the famous Rosslyn Chapel and there is easy walking access to this, the castle and some wonderful river parkland.
