Another Visit and Not Disappointed

Returned to this lovely CL for our second visit. Just as we remembered from our first time. Everything is kept in such good order. Electric and water (water shared by two pitches) are on each pitch. The grass is kept like a lawn. Kathryn and Peter work so hard to keep the CL perfect. They also sell their own honey and free-range eggs. We will certainly return.

Outstanding site

We visited this site in May ,with a grandchild. The delay in reviewing this outstanding site is due to my IT failings. The owners were extremely friendly, but not intrusive. The site is immaculate. We all enjoyed our visits to the local shop, far more than our visit to the huge supermarket nearby. There is a toilet on-site. I can thoroughly recommend this CL. and the surrounding area has much to offer. Thank you to the owners for providing an excellent site.

One of the best cl

Spent nine nights here in June 18.The site is very clean and tidy ,all grass cut short, and picked up Full service pitches The owners were very friendly, but kept out of your way. While we were staying here ,we looked at a lot of cl in the area ,and this has to be the best one by far Would I stay here again Ever week if I did not live 250 miles away

Great site

Great site and location. Found this site and was not disappointed. The owner was very welcoming and was happy to give us information about the area. Very quiet with lots of bird life and if lucky you may catch site of the local barn owl. Perhaps a future project could be a shower room, that was the only negative for us. Apart from that we had a lovely couple of days. Dave and Gale Ashenden.

Lovely honey

We stayed on this CL for 4 nights in early May. The site is clean and well maintained, and the owners were very welcoming. The pitches are level, spacious and are all grass, but the ground seems to be well drained. There are the usual 16 amp hook-up points, and there are fresh water taps on the bollards. These are each shared between 2 pitches (contrary to what previous reviewers have stated). The location is very peaceful, and the surrounding countryside is lovely. There are plenty of opportunities for easy cycling on flat terrain. The lanes are often quite narrow, but there is not much traffic, and the open aspect of the countryside means that visibility is good. There is some helpful local information available in the information room, and also an OS map of the area on the wall - this was very useful when planning cycle rides. A ride to Southwold is easily doable, even for low level/inexperienced cyclists like ourselves. Finally, we must recommend the home produced honey. It really is lovely - and we now wish that we had bought 2 jars. The eggs were also very good. Would definitely stay here again if/when we have another holiday in this area.

Acres of space

We stayed for 12 nights and from day one we felt welcomed by the owners who have provided electric hookups complete with water taps on each post. The site is kept beautifully clean with the grass being mowed after each departure, the pitches are very spacious. There is a well stocked information room where the local honey, jams, eggs and vegetables available. A gate at the end of the field leads to a large dog walk and from there we found 4 good circular walks of 45minutes to 1 hour duration. Also as a dog owner the village has at least 7 dog poo bins which helps to keep it clean. The bus runs during the day to Beccles or Halesworth from outside the site. What a pity the pub behind the site is closed and up for sale although there are others a short car ride away with reasonably priced good food available. A very pretty site which we would certainly return to.

Excellent CL Well managed and very welcoming.

We have just stayed for a second time on this well maintained CL. If only all CL's could be modelled on this it would be great. Even the chemical disposal point is easy with a well fitting lid and tap hose the correct length!! It's the little things that matter. Water tap to each pitch and plenty of room and sunny position. What could be better. I totally agree also with favourable comments made in the other reviews. We will be returning again.

A Perfect CL

Booked for 11 nts on our tour of the UK and loved it. This site is so well maintained in every aspect. The pitches are roomy and what a bonus the taps positioned next to your pitch. There is also recycling. Whilst there we visited Beccles, Framlingham, Southwold, Aldeburgh and Ipswich. Try the Boarding House in Halesworth for any occasion or Sunday Brunch, fabulous. Kathryn & Peter work extremely hard to keep this CL to the highest standard and are friendly but inobtrusive. You can also purchase some of their home made produce (jams, chutneys and honey) and fresh eggs. It was worth every mile of our 6 hr journey & we will return. Barbara & Graham (Whalley, Lancs).

A super CL

This was return visit for us - Rookery Farm is our favourite CL and is just a short drive from home so an excellent choice for weekend getaways. The site is beautifully managed and maintained and a real credit to Peter and Kathryn who work hard to keep it in excellent condition and spotlessly clean. The field is level and lawned and the grass is always short (and collected). The pitches are very well spaced with more than enough room and space for children to play. The services are excellent too with water provided between pitches. There is a good dog walk in the field beyond the site and around to the village. A small shop serves all your immediate needs. The pub is currently up for sale - will be brilliant if it is bought and reopened. Above all Rookery Farm provides peace and tranquillity. Within very easy reach of Southwold, Blythburgh, Dunwich, Halesworth, Walberswick but away from any traffic noise - just birdsong and the occasional chug of the small train. Peter and Kathryn are extremely helpful and friendly but not at all intrusive. You can buy honey and eggs from them and they provide some useful information in the barn near the toilet. We wholeheartedly recommend Rookery Farm - in our view it sets the standard for other CLs to live up to!
