A winner

We visited this site in August 2015. We received a very friendly welcome and although we were pitched on to a hard standing as that was the only ehu pitch available we were able to move to a grass pitch the next day. Vicki and Graham were in the process of improving their site and were providing an additional hook up on the grass area as we departed. The site is peaceful and has a lovely grassed field which Graham keeps to a high standard, with pleasant views over surrounding fields. As others have said there is a very good pub in the village and plenty to do in the surrounding area. We definitely recommend a stay.

Lovely holiday

We stayed here in July as the Knaresborough site was full. Our very good fortune. The owners have worked very hard converting what was an Equestrian business. Extremely friendly and hospitable, they apologised because of nearby Pylon work going on. We loved the site, a 15 min walk to a lovely Pub (Guy Faulkes Arms) in Scotton. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and cannot speak to highly of our hosts.  You will not be disappointed. Cynthia and Graham

Great little CL

We stayed here in the Autumn. Can't fault this site at all! Very quiet, easy travel to lots of interesting places, very friendly, helpful owners. There is a new toilet/shower block being built, but even the current block is more than adequate only a short walk from the pitches - we've had to walk much further to toilets/showers on Caravan Club sites! The local pub serves excellent food (booking advisable) and Harrogate/Knaresborough and other towns in very easy reach. Will definately visit again. Thanks Graham and Vicky - this CL is great!

Happy to go back

We have just spent another four nights at this quiet secluded site. Owners Vicky & Graham are friendly, welcoming and helpfull. The site is easy to find and access is very good. Both grass and hardstanding pitches are available, the toilet and shower facilities are situated in the old stable block as is the chemical disposal point, which are kept clean and tidy, during a chat with Graham he told us that he is starting costruction on new shower and toilet facilities this autum. We will be very happy to return to this lovely site soon.

Lovely autumn break

Just returned from a few days at this pretty and peaceful site which can cater for all types of van/motorhome and all types of weather. Plenty of hard standing and a lovely, level grass area, also with a couple of hard standings. The whole area is immaculately maintained and alot of planting has been done which adds to the general ambience. The toilet/shower and chemical waste is a bit of a walk away in an old stable block, but they are extremely well and regularly cleaned. Graham, the owner, has just started to build a new facilities block adjacent to the hard standings. A couple of weeks before we arrived, Vicky 'phoned us to say that there was some work being carried out on neighbouring land which might cause some daytime noise. If we wished to cancel, our deposit would be refunded (how thoughtful!). We reckoned that as we would most likely be out during the day, we would carry on with our planned visit. As it happened, we heard no noise at all, irrespective of the time of day. On our arrival, Vicky came out to greet us and Graham helped us pitch the van and explained their plans for the site which are impressive. There is alot of time, effort and investment going in to this CL and it is being done very sympathetically. We loved the chickens round about, but there was no noise from them either. Great centre for visiting Harrogate, Ripon, Knaresborough, York, Dales etc. We look forward to returning next year and seeing the new developments.

Relax end enjoy

Just returned from a 2 weeks stay. Were met on arrival by Vicki and although she said we could pitch on the grass - we prefer this to hard standing. As it had rained a lot in the few days before, we realised that we would probably damage the grass with all our comings and goings if the weather was bad so we pitched on one of the two hard standings on the field. Very large - plenty of space for our twin axle van and full awning. Have had to walk further to washrooms when we used to use CC sites. At night, lights trigger as you make your way there and back. Electric shower and cubicle beautifully tiled and floor carpeted. Graham advised us that they are building a new shower block with separate toilets on the edge of the field. Fresh laid eggs when available - delicious!! Great base for sightseeing. Agree with Phil Hiatt - more noise from the road than the work going on. We were very lazy - getting up late so they did not disturb us at all. Guy Fawkes fantastic - went there twice but we walked (1 mile all pavements -take a torch!!) as car parking a problem. Make sure you book. We will definitely return when we visit Yorkshire again

Friendly owners

We stayed here for 2 nights recently and the owner did advise us about the noise in the next field. It did not bother us as we were out during the day, we thought the traffic noise from the road was more noticeable.  The 2 hard standings on the field were good but the grass pitches were very wet after a lot of rain. I agree with the previous comment about the other hard standing pitches did look univiting like a car park. Toilet and waste disposal was quite a walk away. The Guy Fawkes pub in the next village served excellent food, but found it difficult to park, they don't allow dogs when they are serving food so could not walk as we had to leave our pooch in the car.  Would visit again but would request hard standing pitch in the field.

Disappointing

The toilet/shower is in a disused stable block up near the house.  A bit shabby and dark.  Also it is quite a walk, uphill over rough chippings to get to the toilet/shower and chemical disposal point.  There is a hard standing area just before the field, which is a bit like a car park and not very inviting.  There were two nice hard standing pitches on the field and I believe others are planned.  We had rain on two nights and the field was very water logged. Also, there was construction work going on in the neighbouring field – construction of new electricity pylons – which was quite noisy and we weren’t told about this when we booked.  The work is due to be finished soon so if you are bothered by the noise I would suggest that you ask the owners if the workers have left before booking.  The owners were friendly and are keen to develop the site.
