Great little CL site

This is a lovely little CL site with lovely views of the sea and abbey within easy reach of Whitby, the coastal walking paths and cycle route 1 plus the cinder bike trail which goes from Whitby to Scarborough. We had a friendly arrival by Mr Jo (sorry didn't your name) and shown to our good sized pitch:) There is also a little information hut which was useful for getting your bearings. Make sure you check out the Whitby Brewery which is opposite the abbey! Will definitely be back!

Beautiful location.

I was met by Jo as soon as I arrived, because of the wet weather I was given the choice of grass or hardstanding. When the sea fret cleared I had a glorious view of the Abbey and the sea beyond. There is a public footpath next to the site, my dog gives that 5 stars. This was my last stop before home, I wanted somewhere to chill and just read. This was the perfect stop for me. On my list of return sites.

Perfect CL when visiting Whitby

Had a very pleasant 2 night stay here. Was met by the owner, Jo, who showed me around. 2 hard standing pitches and 3 grass although they weren't in use because of the weather. Lots of fabulous walks right from the site including a coast walk into Whitby vianthe Abbey (and brewery!) Good value at £22 including 10 units of electricity which was just right for me. No showers or toilet but everything else you need which is all you can ask of a CL. There was even a very useful information shed. I would happily return.

Perfect

What can we say other than perfect. We had a lovely welcome from Jo who showed us around the site. The hard standings are level and all the other facilities are great too. We can’t think that there’s anything missing or anything that could possibly be improved. As for the views , they are perfect too . To be able to look down to see the Abbey and Whitby Harbour is wonderful. The walking too is great and just on the doorstep. We really can’t fault this site and will definitely be coming back, only sorry that we booked our Motorhome for just two nights.

Lovely quiet site

We stayed here just after Easter. It's a lovely site with everything you need (if you are self-contained). There is drinking water, a grey waste drain and an Elsan disposal point. Easy walk down the lane to Whitby Abbey and the town. Very friendly owners. Perfect for what we needed. We'll be back!

This is our second stay at Poverty Cottage within a month. Jo could not anymore welcoming, first class hosts. Amazing walks from site and a quick drink at the Whitby Brewery before heading back to motorhome. View amazing and site is clean and tidy. Thanks Jo for a wonderful stay.

This site is what a quality CL should be

We wanted a peaceful, well maintained site with good views and easy access to the coastal path. We got all those, and a warm welcome too. We like to use local buses where possible. There is a good bus route about 20 minutes walk down a quiet road. Highly recommended. (And if you like a beer or two, I agree with other reviews - try the wonderful Brewery close to the wonderful Abbey)

Superb site and friendly hosts

We stayed at Poverty Cottage site for 4 nights in August. Received a very friendly welcome from the couple and showed us to our pitch. The views across to Whitby Abbey are lovely with various walks to local attractions including Whitby, The Abbey, Robin Hood's Bay and the local supermarkets! We would definitely stay here again if near Whitby as of the 4 sites we stayed on our trip (Bamburgh down to Whitby) this was the best. Lee & Sally
