Lovely CL

All other positive comments echoed. We had a lovely 4 nights here (August 2015).  Fresh eggs on tap and delightful, friendly owners.  Do be ready to spend time levelling your unit though!!!!!!! Will be our CL of choice if back in the area.

Great Welcome

We had a warm welcome from Tony & Christine who had a box full of leaflets and a box of 6 eggs. we found the site easily enough but you do need lots of levelling blocks. it took us a while to get it straight and we used breeze blocks that were on site. It also helped that we have a motor mover. The views were great and we had 2 lovely sunsets. We did have a bit of road noise as we were up against the hedge and the other side was the road. Would come again.

Good site but shame about waste disposal

Stayed here for 3 nights mid June and despite the pouring rain we were met and greeted with half a dozen free eggs. The site is as listed on a good slope requiring leveling blocks except the pitch occupied by a caravan that is taped off and surrounded by 2 feet of grass. The site is easy to get to and great location for access to Durham. Unfortunately the waste water disposal system needs updating as the grey water disposal took an age to drain away and the chemical toilet disposal point was full to the point of over flowing. Sure this has been resolved. Worth another visit.

A Fantastic place

We stayed here last year and we have just booked again this year. The whole family are very welcoming, helpful and kind. We had car trouble last year and they couldn't do enough. We also messed up our booking and they helped us out with that too. The area is great for Beamish, Durham and the Tanfield Railway. Local people are great too. We found a fantastic pub called The Cross Keys in a local village, all I can say is WOW brilliant food and lots of it and not pricey. All in all a gem of a C L.

Reasonable Site..But over crowded

A warm welcome and some free eggs...then it was not so good.   The views are fine but not exceptional and the half acre site has a fair slope (as described) requiring levelling blocks just about everywhere. The only small level area was taken by an unoccupied caravan which had clearly been in place some time. The grass around it was very long. This was the best location on the site and partially blocked the view from the accessible space available to us on arrival.   The site is grossly over booked with, at one period during our seven day stay, eight caravans and motor homes on site.   This made the already small area very crowded with some caravans very close to others.   This is not what a C L should be and is clearly contrary to club rules and guide lines. Beware and check on numbers before you book!

What a Pleasant Place

Gill and I stayed on the site in my Motor home for 4 nights and were charmed by it. The views are fabulous and the facilities exactly as described. There are hens, sheep and horses to keep you entertained and plenty to see and do nearby. Christine and Tony the site owners were so welcoming even offering us the chance to watch their TV when ours failed! They also offered eggs and plenty of advice and info on how to see the area. All in all a great stay and we will definitely be back.

Wonderful

We stayed at this site for three nights. Wish we could have stayed longer. Great owners, great views, great everything. Not sure how anybody would have anything bad to say about it.

A Hidden Gem

We stayed at this lovely quiet rural C L site in early June , and what a wonderful friendly couple who own it.They made us very welcome and our little westie loved it too!! It is near to the Park and Ride into Durham City and close to Beamish , which we visited and saved with the discount for CC members. We felt really “out in the country” with only the occasional tractor noise , and the wonderful views of open fields . We will be back again as it was so tidy and convenient and we felt at Home ,Thank you both for helping us to have a really relaxing break.

Happy times had by all......

Made to feel very welcome on arrival, shown to our pitch and presented with fresh eggs ( absolutely gorgeous).  A very tranquil and peaceful place with easy access to local attractions.  Not too far for waste disposal and water.   Must not forget to mention the village pub which is within walking distance and great food. A fantastic all round CL ?? x
