Weekend retreat

Just looking for a peaceful location to have a quick couple nights break. On arrival I was greeted by both owners, who explained that the area had a lot of rain the previous week and of i would be kind enough to use the hard standing areas. This was of no concern to myself as only ourselves on the site then we could position ourselves however it suited. Beautiful views from the site, very slight road noise during day tho not any issue, nothing on the evening. We were presented some freshly laid eggs also which went down a treat on some toast the next morning.  Lovely to find a welcoming CL close to home so will certainly be returning.

Return visit

Another very warm welcome (and a box of eggs) on our return visit at the beginning of August. We even got invited to have a glass of bubbly to celebrate Tony and Christine's silver wedding anniversary! It is not the easiest site to level a motorhome on the hard standings, but the lovely views and the friendly owners make it worthwhile. Tony even insisted on taking us into Durham and back again, so as we wouldn't have to move our motorhome and find a parking place for it. We will be back!

Such a super CL!

The CL is very easy to find and as we turned in Tony, the owner, was just cutting the grass on our pitch. He, and his wife Christine, are wonderful and welcoming and he showed us the spare blocks for the front of the 'van to help with the slope. Once we were set up we could really appreciate the amazing view and peaceful surroundings. We were given a lovely free box of eggs and they were sooo tasty! My husband rates CLs on their waste disposal areas and this was fine and kept clean. Nothing is too much trouble for Tony and Christine and they helped us to locate a shop selling gas bottles and even give us slices of cake! Just amazing! We visited Beamish, Durham and Shildon railway museum which are in easy reach of the site. We will definitely be back again!

Beautiful Site

Just spent a week on this lovely site. It is a sloping site but with a little patience we got our van perfectly level. There are plenty of blocks available for everyone to use. The views from the site are some of the best we have ever had and there are plenty of walks from the site, ideal for dog owners like us. The site is run by what are probably the friendliest site owners we have ever met. Upon arrival we were given a free box of eggs ( courtesy of the very tame chickens which roam the site ), and on our second Saturday all the occupants of the site were invited for drinks and snacks on the owners patio. It was a lovely gesture, and everyone turned up. We all spent a couple of hours talking about caravan adventures etc. We would definitely recommend this site, and we will definitely be back when visiting the area again.

Another lovely stay

This is a really lovely C L with very helpful owners who make you feel so welcome .The site is in a lovely rural position yet within easy access of the beautiful city of Durham .The views are just so special all that a CL should be . This is our 4th stay and each time it just gets better. Thank you Christine and Tony for a lovely Holiday , it really helped us to recharge our batteries.

Another great stopover

We stayed on this CL last year and it was great. So used the site this year for a couple of nights stop. Views are fantastic but you will need to spend time getting your van levelled. Owners couldn't be more helpful.

Lovely, restful stay

Just had a 5 night stay at this lovely site.  The owners are brilliant and cannot do enough for you.  Plenty to do locally with an excellent pub within walking distance.  The views are fantastic at this peaceful site which is sloping so some time was needed for setting up but nothing excessive.

Lovely views and warm welcome

We stayed for three nights over the early May Bank Holiday weekend. We were met on arrival by Christine with a lovely gift of free range eggs from the hens pecking around our feet!  The weather was pretty awful and so the grass pitches were very soggy, but there were a couple of hardstanding pitches so it was easy for us to pitch our campervan and also easy to come and go during the day. The site is sloping so you'll need levellers, but it's not too bad. The view over the fields looking west was lovely - one great sunset on Saturday over a wet weekend!  The site is just off a small road and easy to access, although it did seem to be a bit of a rat run for speeding cars. But the birdsong was also lovely.  Our main reason to visit was to go to Seaham beach to search for seaglass - free parking at Seaham Hall car park. The site is very close to Durham city - we didn't go in but driving through it looked like a lovely place to visit.

Nice couple, friendly & great welcome

We were welcomed with a cup of tea & fresh eggs for our breakfast, whist waiting for the hard standing pitch to be vacated. Very sloping site, but with nice views. The road was quite busy next to the site. Good pub in the village serving excellent food.  Good location for Beamish.
