Always a pleasure

Yet another blissful stay with Steve & Jane at moorland farm. Well kept grounds & lake. Lovey fellow campers. Always made to feel welcome and part of the family. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Xx

Pitch perfect!

This was our second stay at Moorland Farm, the first being back in March. Once again, it was perfect, with lovely weather, a perfect pitch overlooking the lake, peace and quiet and excellent site owners. This time we spent more time relaxing and enjoying the site, fishing and reading. We did visit Cheddar Caves (OK, but grateful we paid with our Tesco vouchers) and another visit to Shepton Mallet Prison which we last visited in 2020 and can thoroughly recommend. We put up our bird feeder and saw so many birds. This time we were lucky enough to see the kingfishers diving into and around the lake. Also green woodpeckers, grey heron, buzzards, Red kites, goldfinches, long tailed tits, egrets, wrens and many more. We had great spotted woodpeckers on the feeder every morning. Magical! This is definitely our place to come back to, even just to relax and chill out, rather than sightsee. Metered electric has been introduced, but we were nowhere near our 10kwh / day allowance, so no problem at all. As before, the toilets and shower were immaculately clean, as were the waste disposal and CDP areas. Thank you Steve and Jane for another wonderful stay - it couldn't be more perfect!!

First timer!

This was our first stay anywhere in our new campervan.Lovely little site parked up by the fishing lake, really peaceful and couldn't have been any nicer.Arrived a little later due to traffic and a faulty co pilot! but Jane showed the newbies the ropes and we were very grateful.Had a good chat with Steve and both Steve and Jane were very friendly. If all the cl/club sites are this nice we'll have nothing to worry about. Will return.

Peaceful and quiet - a perfect CL

We are so pleased that we chose Moorland Farm CL, just wish we had stayed longer than 2 weeks! We arrived in the most horrendous downpour of rain and then hail, but even so Jane came out to welcome us and show us our pitch. We had a beautiful spot, right by the lake and sheltered by trees. We set up our bird feeders and woke every morning to bird song and lots of birds on the feeders. During our 2 week stay we saw 28 different birds, including Barn and Little owls (heard!), long tailed tits, green and great spotted woodpeckers, buzzards, so many goldfinches, herons, kestrels and even a kingfisher. We even had a visit from deer, which could also be seen in the field opposite. The site is ideally located for visiting places of interest such as Brean Down & Sands, Clevedon Pier and Portishead which were both lovely, Tyntesfield and we enjoyed a walk around Cheddar reservoir followed by a visit to lovely Axbridge. Maunsel Lock, Barrow Mump and Stanton Drew stone circles are great for a walk, as well as Burrington Combe where you can see the Rock of Ages and peek into Avelines Hole, where bones of lynx and wolves were found. Don't miss the Helicopter Museum at Weston Super Mare - it was fantastic, and the tickets can be reused within a year, so excellent value. The cooked breakfast in the cafe was fantastic, and there are books for sale which are a bargain! What really makes this CL, besides the wonderful scenery around the lakes and the peace & quiet, are the owners, Jane and Steve. They were so nice and helpful, with Steve always ready to help with advice about fishing and Jane keeping the toilets and shower immaculately clean - and I don't think I have ever seen such a clean and tidy recycling / waste area! If we hadn't already sent in our CL of the Year form, Moorland Farm would have had our vote, and we will definitely be returning. Thank you, Jane and Steve, for a wonderful stay.

Very friendly owners

We were greeted here by bith Jane and Steve in turn. They both made sure we were happy with our pitch and knew where all the amenities were. We have given the tranquillity scoring as 5 as we didnt think it fair to penalise them for the disturbance of the work being done on the site. Our pitch was right alongside a wildlife lake and we had a very peaceful evening. On our departure both came to wish us farewell and a safe journey home. Heather and Steve Heaven

Autumn peace and quiet

A very tranquil spot for an autumn break. Welcomed on arrival by Jane and Steve, shown around and offered a choice of pitches. Very helpful about the local area and even provided a map for a walk on the West Mendip Way. Well worth the effort! Basic facilities but adequate, comprehensive recycling. Lovely walking area too and of course fishing on site. Do not try and access the village with your caravan, it is extremely tight with a sharp turn to negotiate, bad enough with just the car. Follow the directions given! We will return in the spring time.

A wonderful and peaceful site and one to return to. 👍

Just returned from a 6 night stay and with the exception of the journey down there we enjoyed every moment of our stay. You need to make sure that you follow the instructions from the website for the last couple of miles and not trust you sat nav or it will take you in to the village and try to get you to go down Church Street which would be a nightmare if attempted. Anyhow the review is about Moorland Farm and not my journey there🤦‍♂️🤣 The site is spacious with all grass pitches and well kept, beautifully situated between two ponds, both of which are full of wildlife, water lilies and other plants. We were met upon arrival by Jane who showed us to our pitch and allowed us to position the van anyway we wanted, we chose to have our awning facing the pond, which was a great spot to sit and have lunch and watch the ducks go by. Both Jane and Steve were around most of the day, so you could always catch them for a friendly chat or advice on where to go in the area. The toilets and shower were basic, but always kept clean and tidy and the paper towel bin was emptied on a regular basis. We hope to return again in the not too distant future.

Wonderful CL, it’s now on our list 😲

Just spent a week here, & left the Van for 3 days prior as we were elsewhere. All our needs were met re security & our bikes were even locked up in the garage. A wonderfully tranquil site with lots of space. With 2 fishing lakes it had lots of wildlife to watch, even though fishing isn’t for us. Lots of walking & cycling options nearby, whatever your level of stamina! Jane & Steve made us feel very welcome & relaxed, & they regularly were around for just a chat & local information. One of the best CL’s we’ve stayed at & will definitely be returning, thank you. Tina & John Sherwood
