Nothing more to add to the recent reviews. Our first experience of serviced pitches and what an agreeable experience. No fetching or carrying of water or grey waste. Ideal for all you retirees.

Excellent if ..

I totally agree with all previous reviews with regard to facilities, neatness of site etc. I should have taken much more care when choosing this CL to ensure ease of access to advertised local places of interest if you don't have a car. We found ourselves a bit bored when we'd had two extensive days out, one walking, one on our bikes. The caravan people seemed to have a much better time of it, using their cars to go further. The Waterton pub was an easy walk and the food and service there was exceptional. Again my error for not choosing carefully enough but we found the set up too organised and prescriptive for us, my mistake not a criticism of the owners

Top class

An excellent site in many ways. Ideal for the more "mature" couple. The clubbing and disco scene in Deeping is a little limited thankfully and if you want peace and quiet with no road noise just nature here is the place. Excellent facilities for the serious vanner and a friendly welcome and knowledgeable and impartial advice. The serviced pitches are a boon as showering and washing up in the van means you don't have to keep bending down and fetching and carrying supplies for those less mobile and with better things to do. Good safe storage if you fancy leaving it for a few weekends and lots of thought put in to make your stay more relaxing and pleasant. Considering the facilities not over expensive.

The Super Plus Pitch CL Site

Why is this CL a super plus site? 1 - Pitch facilities: Absolutely flat hard standing, own water supply, own waste (grey) water drain, metered electricty supply (pre-pay card) 2 - If you do not have extended water supply pipe and float/ball valve kit for Aquaroll, or extended waset pipe for grey water, then these are supplied within the pitch fee! 3 - Communal facilities: Toilet cassette emptying, dustbins, recycling etc, Picnic area 4 - Price: I will spend some time on this as I think some pricing detail is warranted - Price is incredible value for money for a fully service pitch. Let's take a look at a few facts. Compare fully serviced pitch at CC Littlehampton site in July; 2 x adults with service pitch gives total of £150.50 or £21.50 per day with electricty included. Keal Lodge 2 x adults and pitch £15 plus electricity. Using the Littlehampton example I could spend up to £6.50 per day on electricty! - Practical example for week 30 May 2013 - 6 June 2013, Electricty usage; water heater 24/7, fridge 24/7, leisure battery charger 24/7, room hot air heater 500 watt setting 12 - 14 hours/day, 500 watt oil filled radiator in end washroom 12 - 14 hours/day, thermostats used to maintain room temp at 21 degree C in evening except after midnight when maintained at 17 degree C. Cooking via Microwave for 2 nights, 4 nights eating out. TV, fan blower and lighting all run from 12 volt battery. Total electricity bill for week £18 gives average of £2.57/day. Add to £15 gives £17.57 day pitch fee. Total for week £123 saving me £27.50 Of course you may wish to use more electricity, some folk like to heat their awning in the evenings, some folk will eat in every evening but on my practical example you can safely double your electricity consumption before you equal the Littlehampton service pitch fee, triple it if you use high season Littelhampton fees! During my recent visist to Keal Lodge I did read in the site visitors book a complaint about there being no toilet block despite the fact the brochure and web site details clearly state no toilet or shower block exists, so I did not really understand the complaint. To be fair, I recognise that some folk who like to use a fully serviced CC pitch also like to avail themselves of a toilet block - but such facilities are not a feature of this site and, given that we always use our own washroom facilities, the addition of a toilet block would add no value for me. I would rather save the money on the pitch fees! Having spent some time on the value for money of Keal Lodge, I would support all the other positive reviews. So if you have never tried a fully serviced pitch and don't have the kit then Keal Lodge is a great place to give it a try, remember that all the kit you will need is supplied within the daily pitch fee. My wife and I only stay on serviced pitch sites and so have some extensive experience on the variable qualities out there. Keal Lodge is up there with the very best on quality so keeping it on our regularly visit list.

Definition of Tranquility

Just returned from a week at Keal Lodge CL and felt compelled for the first time ever to write a review. We went this week with the idea of doing nothing much aside from reading, relaxing and walking our dogs, and that's just what we did! The site is immaculate, pitches large and all serve and the owners and site staff helpful, friendly and professional. There is an excellent dog walk on site and it is also an easy walk into Market Deeping which is particularly lovely if you walk into it along the river. On arrival we received your own information pack which gave details of your particular pitch, office opening hours, local shops and places of interest. Having been caravanning for many years both in the UK and France, this has to be probably the best site we have stayed on. This was the first time we had used our van, a Bailey Pegasus, on an all serve pitch and it was fantastic, although the motor mover came into its own when arriving and leaving. An excellent site, we will be back!

Beautifully Maintained CL

Stayed here many times and cannot fault this CL. Surroundings are superbly maintained, fully serviced pitches ( strangely omitted from the caravan club handbook) are second to none. Owners are very friendly and always willing to assist in any problems/ enquiries that caravanners have. Local produce (pies and cakes etc) available to purchase from site office. Great location to visit the beautiful town of Stamford. Will definitely visit again.

What A Find Keal Lodge

What a gem of a site, if there is a better site on the Caravan Club C.L. network I am yet to find it. There is always a smile and a warm welcome from Alison and Keith and are always willing to help if needed. We have stayed at this site many times and it is obvious why they have won many awards. The fully service pitches are immaculate and are of a good size, As other reviews have stated it is like staying in the owners garden. ( the Caravan Club book has omitted fully service pitches in the 2013-14 edition) if the CL sites were graded this CL would be graded gold.

What a welcome

Allison and Keith certainly know how to make you welcome the pitches with the unique layout make you feel that you have pitched in their back garden. The fully serviced pitches are well kept and in lovely surroundings, a short walk across the fields is a nice little pub,a bit further afield is Market Deeping with a variety of things to see and do. It's one of those sites you don't want to leave, access to the site is good as is the barrier controlled gate. Thank you for a wonderful stay Paul and Louise Small

Best CL ever!

This is an amazing CL site. Alison and Keith bend over backwards to do everything to make our stay comfortable and memorable. We were so impressed with our first visits that we decided to store there also and return very frequently. The site is kept in first class condition and nothing is too much trouble for Keith and Alison. The price per night is very reasonable, considering the quality of the hard standing, fully serviced pitches. We have stayed there in very cold weather and in summer. The electric meters are fairly priced and the 16amp supply allows for use of all appliances as and when required. We have no hesitation in recommending the site to anyone who hasn't been yet. The area around Keal Lodge is a hidden secret and very peaceful. Give the site a try and you will not be able to resist a revisit!

Very Expensive

This site is set off a small lane and has 6 hardstanding pitches each with fresh and waste water drainage. There is a large field to exercise the dog and some nice walks from the site. There is a small licensed site as well. The site is well maintained and the owners have put together comprehensive information packs for you. There are fridges on site where you can buy pies and cakes at reasonable prices. The only issue with this site, is it is very commercial, electricity is by prepaid meter and extortionately priced. There were 2 vans in our party and we shared the cooking/nights in first one van then the other, we cooked on Gas and both of us found ourselves paying £20 each for electricity for the week! Considering we split the usage this is very high. It is more than we pay at home and I work from home!!! It would actually have worked out cheaper to stay at a club site, and there you would have had a toilet/shower block of which this site has neither. There are also lots of rules, whilst pitches are fully serviced on arrival you are reminded that the owners are on a water meter. If you have an awning you cant park next to your van, storm straps for awnings should only be used when its windy etc etc. Whilst the site is nice its very commercialised and rule based and more expensive than a club site out of season. Its hard to see why it was voted CL of the year.
