Best CL site we have visited

From the booking made on the phone to our departure the whole experience and stay was fantastic. We downloaded the route given on the website for the best way to get to the site and they were very clear and precise. A warm welcome on our arrival and we were really impressed with the layout and condition of every aspect of the site, each of the 5 pitches had EHU grey and drinking water with free WiFi thrown in. With the central layout of the services each pitch was very very private which made for a very relaxing stay. We took some walk from the Information room and enjoyed the lovely local village and river. No wonder this site has got so many awards.....Yes its £20 but as in life you get what you pay for. WONDERFUL !!!!!!!!!!

Excellent

our fIrst visit, and will not be the last! We booked after recommendation from my sister, booking was easy, one phone call a few questions and deposit paid, The owner was very pleasant on the phone and this followed through our stay. The day before our arrival I received a courtesy call informing me that they wouldn't be there to greet us due to a prior commitment, however, their daughter would be there. I thought it was lovely that they took the time to inform us. on arrival we met with Helen the owners daughter, we sorted payment and a information pack was given to us not just about the facilities but surrounding area, things to do places to visit etc. The pitches are excellent and of very high standard! I would say one of the best CL sites. The whole ease of setting up was due to it being well thought out. The pitches are of very high standard. The privacy of each pitch is a very welcome change and we were thankful for that. We saw the owner a few times but not once did they trouble us, obviously he asked if everything was ok for us. If you need a site with excellent facilities this is the one to choose. The place is immaculate. DONOT USE THE SAT NAV, follow the well detailed directions on their website and you will get there no bother. Had lovely stay 4 night stay, loved it. Sue

If you're thinking of running your own CL, go here first to see how it can be done.

We were looking for a relaxing break in the Peterborough area so that we could both do some sightseeing and visit family in south Lincolnshire. Having looked at various sites, including the Club's own site at Ferry Meadows we decided to try Keal Lodge, based mainly on the very positive reviews on here. We were not disappointed. Everything about our visit went smoothly, even when wanting to change our arrival and departure dates at the last minute, and nothing was too much trouble for our wonderful hosts, Alison and Keith. We have stayed at a number of CL's over the last few years, some good some not so, but they have introduced and implemented so many good ideas (for example the Information handbook that every caravanner or motorhomer gets to use for the duration of their stay) that we felt anyone who either currently runs or is thinking of setting up a CL should visit here to see what can be achieved. The site was superbly maintained, (note there is no shower block or toilet, so you will need to use your own facilities) with level hard-standing fully serviced pitches. Access from the main roads is good as long as you follow their directions as the local town of Deeping St. James has some narrow streets with sharp bends. All in all, a lovely few days (even with the very strong winds we had). Thank you, Lynne and Geoff.

10 stars

We stayed over for a short break on route to a campsite a further 3 hours away which we had booked for a longer stay. We wish we had booked our full holiday at this site, to make amends we have booked a week in September. If you prefer to use your caravan facilities then this site offers everything you could wish for, fully serviced secluded pitches manicured lawns with shrubs and flowers to rival Kew gardens and a good dog walk area. The welcome on arrival is often mentioned as part of a sites strong point, many could learn from the way that is carried out here, by the time you are on site you feel like old friends, this coupled with an information pack that could take all week to read. All in all you could not ask for more from a CL. We now hope to become regulars in Keal Lodge in the years to come. Terry and Viv

Weekend saved

Unfortunately on driving to this site our clutch gave up. On contacting Mayday, we kept on receiving different times. One breakdown service came out and said wont be able to take caravan, so had to wait yet more hours. I kept in touch with the campsite who were very understandable. Time was getting on and i phoned the site again saying it will be to late to get to you. Keith the owner said not to worry I can come to you and tow your caravan to the site, by this time it was 2230. Keith duly arrived just after the tow truck, who was not sure if could tow the caravan., Keith with Andrew towed the van to there site, with the tow truck following with our car. From our initial call it had taken Mayday 6hours for us to get recovered. When we arrived it was after midnight we were made most welcome by Alison and Jo. Hooked up and water on. The next morning caravan was towed onto the site. Wow this place is superb, with all the staff working tirelessly to keep this site beautiful. Could not ask for better hosts who went above and beyond to make our weekend one of the best ever. Thank you for the concern and kindness showed. Your site is pitch perfect. Many complaints to mayday we were recovered on the monday on time and with caravan towed back home.

One of the Best

Overall this is one of the best CL sites that we have used. We have stayed several times and have always received a warm welcome and enjoyed our visit. Pitches are largely shielded from each other by carefully maintained shrubbery which adds to the sense of privacy and there is a large field adjacent for walking our dog. The pitches are all hard standing and fully serviced and as we always use our own facilities the lack of a site toilet is not a problem for us.

Platinum site

If the Caravan Club had a rating system for CLs this one would be platinum. It is superbly set out and immaculately maintained and the inclusion of electricity in the pitch fee this year makes it perfect. Keith and Alison do everything they can to make stays really enjoyable and provide a very warm welcome every time we go.

Peaceful, friendly site

We stayed in our motorhome for one night in August, but would willingly have stayed longer. The owners were very welcoming and gave us plenty of information to make our stay a good one. The large field for dog exercising is great, as is the honesty box for purchasing ice creams! The pitch was flat and we had water and EHU. The pitches were spacious and there was a very relaxed feel. As we were only there for one night, we didn't go off the site but next time we'll take the riverside walks to the town.

A lovely well kept site

We have had a number of great stays at Keal Lodge. It is a great location. We really like Market Deeping and it's surrounding area for cycling. Peterborough is very easily accessible by car or bus. The site is very quiet and the services to each pitch are superb. Ideally we would like the owners to consider installing a toilet. (This could perhaps be shared between the site and "Border Storage, and be perhaps on the latter' side as opposed to on the CL?). Personally we also actually hate the card system for the metered electricity. My wife got quite paranoid about checking the meter each day. PLEASE rethink the way you want to charge for electricity Keith and Alison. Include the price of the electricity into the nightly charge, and in the same way that many CLs charge extra for an awning, perhaps charge caravanners using things like air conditioners, or other similar items extra.

One of the best cl's

Just got back from a weekend at this top class site, welcomed on arrival by the very pleasant owners Keith and Alison, we could pick our pitch which has water and waste disposal also a motorhome waste disposal point. Very tranquil and so peaceful. There are loads of walks direct from the site and ideal for dog owners as the short walk down the road brings you onto the banks of the river where you can walk into Market deeping where you will find shops and some really nice pubs on the riverside. There is also a large dog walking area. Can't wait to return in the next few weeks
