We have stayed on this several times now and can't recommend it highly enough. Tom and Mark are always friendly, welcoming and helpful and the facilities spotless. Thank you both.
What a little gem of a site, Tom and Mark are wonderful hosts with a quiet peaceful rural site that has all you need for a destress and relaxing break from the world near all of the attractions but away from it all. Facilities first class views are lovely 5* all round.
We received a very warm and helpful welcome at this peaceful site close to Durham. Our hosts couldn't have done more.
Very well maintained and clean toilet & shower.
Reasonably flat pitches.
Some traffic on the neighbouring road during the day, but none at night.
Close to Durham - but we wouldn't recommend the cycle into Durham via Hett Mill & Shincliffe unless you enjoy off road cycling. We believe the nearest bus is 1 mile away - but Tom & Mark would confirm.
We received a warm welcome from Mark and Tom at Grove Farm. We only stopped one night, but it was lovely and peaceful. The donkeys were friendly and I was able to feed them a couple of carrots and tops which they enjoyed. The toilet and shower rooms were very clean. Hopefully, we will be back for a return stay. đ
We arrived during the wettest part of the year and were disappointed to have not stayed on the main field due to the heavy rain.
Nevertheless we had a great stay on a strip of land next to the charming donkeys , Petunia and Marigold. Tom and Mark made us very welcome and we enjoyed chatting about what to do in the area with them throughout our stay. The views are beautiful the site peaceful and the toilet and shower are spotless .
There is plenty to see in the area. We really enjoyed Beamish over 2 full days, Ushaw House and Chapels, Seaham and Durham.
We hope to visit again in the future . Thank you Tom and Mark for making us feel very welcome .
I recently stayed at this lovely little site. There were two beautiful donkeys as well as lovely owners to greet me. The site is quiet and peaceful, and the hosts made me feel very welcome. The toilet and shower were clean and also nice and warm too. I'd thoroughly recommend a stay here.
Having now spent a total of 81 days at Grove Farm we feel qualified to say that everything contained in our first review listed 04/07/2022 not only still stands but can safely be said to remain not only utterly consistent but, in some cases, improved. âThe Girlsâ are even more settled now theyâve been there for three years, the number of âregularsâ appears to be rising and the peace seems to be even more peaceful. A quite wonderful CL to spend time on.
Of course the weather, being British, is its usual unpredictable self; from stunning sunshine with clear blue skies through to torrential rain and chilling winds. But, if one chooses to holiday in our beautiful British Isles, what more may we expect? Are the views from Grove Farm not beautiful?
The welcome from Tom and Mark, even for one-nighters, is still unmatched as is their exceptional helpfulness. No, there are no electric hook-ups. No, generators are not allowed; not even the so-called 'silent' ones (they upset âThe Girlsâ). All these things just add to the feeling of peacefulness away from the frenetic hustle and bustle of the unwelcoming outside world. Once again, âThanks so muchâ to Tom and Mark for a CL thatâs a real haven of tranquillity.
Stayed here 3 nights and the hosts were so wonderful! Friendly and helpful. The views were great and the facilities were excellent and well taken care of. Loved the donkeys too!
This CL is fantastic, with super clean toilet and shower, freedom to choose parking position, fantastic views, peace, easy distance to local attractions and to top it all Mark and Tom make this site extra special with their warmth, friendliness and knowledge of everything local. Thank you Mark and Tom, we hope we can stay with you again.
