Gorgeous

We agree with all the positive comments from previous reviews especially regarding the location and the peace and quiet. We were allocated one of the grass pitches at the lower end of the site and were able to enjoy superb views across Soulseat Loch especially in the evening when the sun was going down. The only slightly negative aspect was that the longish grass near the pitch seemed to have swarms of midges above it. Thank goodness they seemed to be of the "non biting" variety so although they were a bit of a pest when sitting outside, neither of us got bitten. We explored quite a lot of the locality and would recommend Portpatrick as a lovely place to visit with several eating options. On the southern tip of the Mull near the lighthouse there is a very nice restaurant, with lovely views over the Mull the full Scottish breakfast set me up for the day ! North of Stranraer the Golf Club welcomes visitors and serves decent snacks and excellent ale on the balcony overlooking the course. Gorgeous site in a lovely area.

Great little peaceful site with excellent Loch views and a large pitch area.

Would highly recommend this CL site. The hard standing pitches have a generous hard standing area and large grass area so you have plenty of room. Very peaceful site as all you can generally hear are the wildlife which we loved. The views over the Loch are pretty special and when the sun sets in summer it’s a great sunset view. We loved it here and will definitely be returning when back up in Scotland again.

Peaceful, tidy and relaxing CL

This is the second time at this CL. There has been changes since our first visit. Henry the owner has put in 5 gravel hard stands now. It used to be all grass before on tiers. It has changed the feeling of being pitched in someone's very lovely garden to being a bit more like a small campsite now. I fully understand why he has made the change, given the amount of MH's that use this CL, the grass was getting ruined. Don't worry though as there is still very generous areas of grass around and beside your gravel pitching area. The views across the Loch are seen from every pitch (although you may have to sit on the grass) very peaceful. The only negative comments I could make are there are 7 pitches in total the 2 very lower pitches near the Loch are grass. When we were there one of the pitches had a long term stayer on it. At times the whole 7 pitches can be occupied. It is a lovely place and the gardens are well kept with wild areas for the wildlife. There are Guinea Fowl on site which are amusing to watch when they go running around making a noise over something. I would recommend this CL

Lovely peaceful site

This is probably the most peaceful and quiet CL we have ever visited. Good hard standings available (mostly very level) in delightful surroundings - 30 seconds from the beautiful loch with all its interesting birdlife. Pleasant evening walks available and can also walk right round the loch in about 40 minutes. Very tranquil and beautiful setting. Owner helpful and pleasant.

What a lovely site

I spent 4 days at this site in early May, and wish I could have stayed longer. The location and surroundings are beautiful, peaceful, and yet it's only 10 minutes or so drive from Stranraer. Henry was always around and willing to give out information. The pitches are all well spaced and suitable for the caravan on the hard standing, and the awning, if you have one, on the adjacent grass, Needless to say, I WILL be back.

Excellent site

We only spent one night here on our tour of Scotland but wish we could have stayed longer as it's just perfect! The owners were extremely helpful and the pitches were large and well kept with beautiful views of the Loch. The site is perfect for a peaceful getaway in a perfect location and cannot recommend highly enough.

Loved this site, definitely return

Such a warm welcome and great amenities. As open all year the recent rain meant that the beautiful grassed area was a little soggy so to preserve this and to for our own ease of mind able to park on hard standing. Beautiful, quiet site and one we would love to return to, to explore the area more. Thank you

Beautiful Setting

Have just returned from 10 nights at this lovely CL. Situated on the edge of a small loch, with views from your pitch of the fishermen and birdlife, and beautiful trees. A very relaxing outlook, with a nice dog walk alongside the water. Facilities were good, with large pitches. The owner was very welcoming, and helpful without being intrusive. Getting out and about was good, with easy access (although roads are narrow!) in every direction. Cycle routes from the gate. Only have two negative comments (in the interest of complete honesty): the pitches were not level, and some could do with some hardstanding (esp after rain!). And although it is almost silent during the day (a train does pass within 1 mile each hour), there is some road noise from heavy traffic on the distant main road during the night. But that could have been the wind direction! I would certainly return. We were thoroughly relaxed after our stay, and would like to have stayed a month. Thank you Mr. Hall.

What can I say....can't be bettered.

A well managed site in a great location. We stayed here for six nights and wish it could have been more. Quiet, beautiful, great dog walking, near to lots of attractions....and with an owner who really cares! This site goes straight to the top of my list.

Lovely setting

What a lovely CL. The views over the Loch are great and in the evening the sunsets are stunning. The pitches are large and well presented, grass nice and short and each pitch clearly defined. The gardens are lovely as is the whole place. Henry the owner is charming and very helpful. Its an easy 3 mile cycle ride into Stranraer from the site on quiet country roads and cycle path. There are other rides you can do out from the site also on quiet roads. We will return hopefully for longer next time to explore more of the area.
