Stunning location

This is Lovely CL in a beautiful location with far reaching views and is extremely convenient for the M40. Ted and jackie were really helpful and friendly. When I was due to leave, Ted cycled to the end of the lane to make sure it was clear for me to depart. My son was particularly taken by Tess the friendly sheepdog whilst I loved seeing the Red Kites and other wildlife. For those with children Legoland is 45 minutes away and High Wycombe 10 minutes away for the 30 minute train ride to London. Ted has addressed the pitch width issue the previous reviewers have mentioned. I found the spaces extremely generous and thought there there was plenty of room.

Almost perfect CL

I agree with everything said in the other reviews. This is a very special place in a lovely area and the site is very well run and maintained, and WiFi is an absolute bonus. Jackie and Ted couldn't be more helpful. Like the other reviewer mentioned I think the pitches could be more evenly spaced allowing the same gap between each outfit, and you have to walk a couple of hundred yards each time to empty your Thetford. The Very strict rules for time of arrival and departure are a great idea and should be adopted by all Cls to avoid meeting others on narrow lanes. We will be back.

Heaven for nature lovers

Cholsey Grange is a gem of a site. We have spent two long weekends there and hope to return again this year. From the camping field you can walk for miles through unspoilt woodlands, glades and fields. We watched red kites circling above us, owls swooping across the meadows and (much to the excitement of the children) sat quietly in a woodland glade as a small herd of deer leapt past us out of the bushes. Ted and Jackie are so helpful and welcoming but never obstrusive. If you want to see the Chilterns at their very best then this is the place to stay.

Peaceful retreat

A very beautiful and peaceful location. Loved the goats! We found an information sheet at the gate with our name and pitch number on which was very helpful. There is also a bag in circulation with lots of local information and walks in. We are beginners so it was our first time using levelling blocks but hubby managed okay with some support from a fellow caravanner.  We were only having a short weekend break but would have been very happy to spent a few more days at Cholsey Grange.  We tried the chip shop in Stokenchurch(about a five minute car drive) and enjoyed our late supper. We also ate at the Old Royal Oak which served Nepalese food. Very tasty food with lots of choice. Stokenchurch had a few places where you could eat out. Hubby went off on a walk while I went to a local canine funday. He walked around Fingest and Turville where the Vicar of Dibley was filmed. It was very scenic by all accounts although the weather was a little hot for the up hill bits! Overall we had a lovely break and will hopefully return to see more of this area. It was a very welcoming site.

Tranquil

Stunning location, views amazing. Kites in abundance. Warm welcome form Ted & Jackie. Site is sloping but extra blocks are available. Fabulous cycling and walking area. Free wifi a bonus. Our only criticism would be that pitches are not very evenly spaced and the chemical emptying point is not very close. All in all we had a wonderful time and we will return. Visited over the Mayday weekend 2015.

Fantastic Location with a friendly welcome

New to caravanning, this was our first stay at a CL and i have to say it embodied all we wanted from caravan ownership.  The site is on a field overlooking a valley, with wildlife all around us and stunning views.  Red Kites soared around the site all day and the owners, Ted and Jackie, were so friendly and helpful.  There is loads to do and see within 10 minutes drive, but other than a nip to a pub for an evening meal, we walked from the site both days we were there and were blown away with how lovely the Chilterns are, the footpaths/bridleways around the site are all very accessible, well maintained and helpful arrows painted on lots of trees to help you find your way and the 10k circular walk that the owners can give you is really good and easy to follow.  I couldn't have asked for a better introduction to CL's and will definitely return.  Just a note, we were on pitch 1 and that did require a bit of 'extreme' levelling, but we did so very easily with the bolcks provided on the site and as a bonus we didn't need the step ;)

Excellent site

Stayed here for 10 nights over Easter. What a fantastic find. The views are beyond description and walks through the woods with the dogs great. Local area full of things to do and places to visit. Local village was where Goodnight Mr Tom was filmed and the village pub excellent. The owners were very attentive and provide a well stocked information pack to be passed around new arrivals, great idea to get you talking. We will be back.

Beautiful site!

Stayed for a couple of nights over Easter 2015 to break up the journey home from Wales. Owners were really nice and very helpful. One of the most scenic CL's we've stayed at. Bit light on facilities for the price but the scenery and wildlife make up for that. Also the pitches are nicely kept, mown regularly and there's a box of wooden blocks to help with levelling if required. The owners make a local activities pack available with all sorts of stuff to do ranging from a route marked map of walks around the farm to the various increasingly expensive local theme parks. Will more than likely stop over here again.

super - just super!

I don't want to give this a good review as I want to keep this a secret all to myself! - but that would be selfish and this one is worth visiting. The welcoming was wonderful, helpful and sincere.  I'm sure the views would have been as good too, but the weather let us down with low cloud, but walking near by gave a glimpse of how lovely the area is. Slightly higher price than I'm used to with no facilities other than hook-up - BUT, it is close-ish to London with easy access from the M40, the views are fabulous and the welcoming worth it!

Wonderful views and perfect setting

Absolutely magnificent view from this site. Yes you do need levelling blocks – but there are plenty on site for you to use. Extremely well laid out facilities, good well cared for pitches, water and EHU near the pitches. We stayed for a week in September 2014, the weather was beautiful so I admit we had a slightly idealised view of the site. The site was peaceful and relaxed, numerous walks immediately from the site (our dogs loved it), and lots of wildlife – red kites were abundant and we saw badgers and owls. Lovely soay sheep in the field next to the site. The only negative we would say is that there is some noise from the motorway – but then we chose a site right next to the motorway for convenience. Once in the van we didn’t notice it and it didn’t affect our enjoyment of the site (we are pretty noise phobic – so its not something to worry about) Located just off the M40 we travelled into London and down to Windsor, Marlow and Henley. Beautiful local villages and countryside. We chose the site for convenience when seeing family but it the perfect spot for a family holiday. Very thoughtful and pleasant hosts – love the site leaflet they give you on arrival it has lots of practical information and answers all the questions we tend to have when staying on a CL. Do take note of their advice re arriving and departing the entrance is straightforward but you don’t want to meet a caravan going in the other direction. Another site to go into our list of places to stay. Suggestions to owners for improvement – None – its wonderful!
