Stunning CL in the Chilterns AONB

Stunning views from this CL, best we have had. Warm welcome from the owner, nothing too much trouble. Plenty of information on things to do and see. The footpaths in the local area made the holiday one to remember. We stayed for 8 nights - 5th/12th September, and would have stayed longer if a pitch had been available. Can highly recommend this CL to anyone seeking peace and quiet amid beautiful scenery.

Relaxing Stay

This was our second visit to Cholsey Grange, we loved it the first time 3 years ago and loved it even more this time with its incredible upgrade, serviced hard standings with an beautiful view, what's not to like. The peace and tranquility is wonderful with lovely walks, without getting the car out, to some stunning villages, pubs and cafes. The welcome you receive is outstanding, helpful but not intrusive, we felt it couldn't be better. The entrance can be tricky but make sure you ring the owner, as instructed, on arrival in Ibetson, you can't go wrong then. We will definitely be back.

Dogs paradise

Our owners brought us here for ten days in July. As other reviewers have said, no praise is too high for this site. Very well organised and the Howard Jones family were good hosts. The walks we went on were great and we saw plenty of the local wildlife, including the owls 🦉 when we went for a late evening walk down the track to the field where Teds dads grave is situated. Oh, and we came across a herd of deer 🦌 in the field on our way back up to the caravan. There were other people on the site who had dogs and we got to meet a couple of them as there was no strict rules on us having to be on the leads. To be fair, we are well behaved so just stayed around the awning when we were chilling out. From Arri and Anna, two very happy dogs. 🐕 🐕 (we are both black by the way).

A Jewel of a Site

Codes to the gates are supplied prior to arrival. Pitch number and information sheet are provided on the notice board. This information is above and beyond anything we have received at any other CL site. 'Wow', this was the first word out of my mouth as we came to stop at the entrance to the CL. 'What a glorious view'. A CL with electric, water and waste water on each pitch is totally decadent, this was a great start to our holiday. Ted was happy for our puppy to be off the lead, which was wonderful for him as the field was a great play area to explore. Walks can be taken directly from the site and you will see wild deer, squirrels to name a few. No need for maps as the site has a 'hessian bag' with laminated maps, walks, and loads more information for you to use and return. The views are beautiful and add the swooping red kites that appear, this is simply a beautiful site just to sit back and relax and watch the world go by. The hosts Ted and Jackie have thought of everything. Thank you - we will be back.

Great CL

Easily one of the best CL we have stayed at. A very warm welcome from Ted, giving us all the information on the area and about the farm itself. There were a number of National Trust properties very near to visit and when we were relaxing with beautiful scenery we were able to watch the red kites flying and scoping up the scraps of meat that we fed to them. Without doubt this Is a top class CL 100% recommended.

Idyllic CL

Just returned from our second visit to the site. Since we were last here hardstandings and bollards have been added so every pitch is now fully serviced. The addition of hardstanding is particularly useful as it used to be a very slopng site and it was sometimes hard to get level. As others have said Ted is a good host, he will wander around and say Hi a couple of times a week, and there is always someone around the farmhouse of you have specific questions, but it isn't intrusive and you are left to enjoy the peace and quiet, the glorious views and the wildlife. Red kites are numerous, and we spent a few minutes late one night watching the Owls from the nearby nest box, while deer wandered through the next field. There are a few printed leaflets available for walks in the area - I'd recommend a walk to the Bull & Butcher in Turville for lunch - the pies are very good indeed and set you up for the walk back.

Just Perfect

From the very start our communication with Ted from Cholsey Grange was excellent - booking our pitch was extremely easy to do using the online booking system and the option to pay the deposit and balance by BACS is a huge advantage for us. Ted also adds nice touches like sending us an email two days before we were due to arrive, which gave excellent instructions to aide our arrival. We were also pleasantly surprised to find an information leaflet in our pitches pigeon hole with useful information about the site and local area and some history about the farm. When we met Ted we found him friendly and helpful, without being intrusive, this must be a very difficult balance but we felt that Ted got this just right. He is clearly passionate about the CL and the farm in general, he is very knowledgeable about the local area and offered hints and tips about what to do and see including the wildlife to look out for around the CL. The site itself is superb, the views are to die for and the abundant wildlife a joy to watch. The level hard standing pitch was fully serviced which was an added bonus. There is so much to do and see in the local area, we visited a few National Trust properties as well as enjoying bike rides and walks in the nearby countryside. We also enjoyed a couple of visits to Henley to people watch during the regatta. We will definitely return, we just hope that there will be room for us as I am sure that this CL will continue to go from strength to strength.

An idyllic week

We spent an idyllic week here at the end of June. The site has a beautiful setting with panoramic views across the Chiltern hills. The pitches are very spacious and fully serviced. The owners are very knowledgeable and keen to make sure you enjoy your stay. There are many beautiful, chocolate box villages in the area to explore, many featured in TV programmes, such as the Vicar of Dibley, Midsomer Murders and Father Brown. Oxford is well worth a visit and it is not too far for afternoon tea in the Cotswolds either. We eventually found the Phoenix Trail, a tarmac path along an old railway line for cyclists, walkers and horse riders, which goes from Princes Risborough to Thame. It is not well signposted and we couldn’t find it when we went for lunch in Thame the day before. We tracked it down in Princes Risborough the next day and cycled to Thame and back. We did about 15 miles in all. Henley-on-Thames is worth a visit as is Wallingford. As an Agatha Christie fan we found her last home Winterbrook house there, and then visited her grave in the next village, and signed the visitor’s book, which was interesting to read. All in all, just our type of holiday. A beautiful, peaceful setting for chilling out days and lots to explore on adventurous days. With such welcoming owners, it really is well worth a visit.
