Our favourite CL, perfect for twin axles

We have been caravanning for ten years, to put it simply Cholsey Grange is the best site we have ever found, and Ted and Jackie are the best hosts we have ever met! Bit surprised at the comment about exit difficulties in a previous review; my previous caravan was an Avondale Argente twin axle, my current van is a Bailey Senator Carolina twin axle, both are as long as any UK built 'van I believe, and both have exited this CL with no issue at all. Look forward to returning soon!

Great welcome, wonderful pitches.

The welcome is first class, the pitches are well appointed and the wifi actually works! We have moved this site to one of our top ten.

Another Fantastic Stay at a Cracking CL

We are regular visitors to Cholsey Grange CL and have just completed another enjoyable five night stay. You can be assured of a warm welcome from Ted & Jackie who provide lots of local information and are always on hand if needed. Even though we have been here many times I never tire of the view or the extensive network of local footpaths. There are so many walks from the site, so no need to get the car out, which is always a bonus. Others have mentioned how well maintained the site is, so there is no need for me to repeat. However I do feel that that the previous comment might deter people with twin axles from visiting this site which would be a real shame. Whilst not knowing the individuals circumstances I think I should report my own experience. I tow a Coachman 675, it is twin axle and 25' 11" (7895) long (so an inch longer than the Luner mentioned) and I was able to enter and exit with plenty of clearance. Ted and Jackie are very attentive and accommodating so if you have any concerns talk to them. You can see details of the walks we have done from Cholsey Grange on our blog.https://twodogsandanawning.co.uk/site/cholsey-grange-cl/

Take Care on Exit

A lovely site with a warm welcome from Ted and Jackie, the pitches are well spaced and close to the two water points. walks are all around you and local maps are available some are quick and easy some are harder if you are up to it, we did a longer walk some 7.5 miles with a pub stop on the way. The Chiltern Walk is close by and the Red Kites are everywhere, however waiting for them to show you the fantastic markings on their backs is more difficult. The EHU works on 10 units of electricity is included in your daily allowance but we never went over even though the extra charge per unit is only 17p If like us you have a long twin axle caravan I would think twice about using the site due to a risk of grounding on exit from the farm, we did gound our Lunar Delta causing some rear end damage, it's not the 7.885 metres(25' 10'') but in my estimation the ground clearance, we had a Elldis Storm T/A which was 8.03 metres and never had a grounding problem Ted I understand is taking steps to warn people when they book as to the risk of grounding long caravans. I would like to thank Ted and his son for all their help in solving our problem, also available via Ted has contact with a dog walking service from Sophie which helped us when we went to a trip into London. We hope the information helps you to book with confidence

Response from the Club:

Many thanks for your very positive review of Cholsey Grange Club Site and we are delighted you enjoyed your stay. We are sorry to read you had an issue with exiting the site. Ted, the CL owner, has been in touch as he wants to ensure everyone has the best possible time when staying with them and appreciates your feedback. They have, for many years, accepted long and twin-wheel outfits and have not had any similar issues in the past so Ted was very sorry to hear that this occurred. Should other members have any concerns, please be assured there is a slightly different route (via the site’s stable yard) on exit which will avoid any issues and the CL owners are happy to help wherever they can. Thank you again for your review and the CL Owners are looking forward to hopefully greeting you again soon.

Tranquillity at its best

We have just returned from Cholsey Grange, we stayed for 4 nights. Ted and Jackie are great hosts. The site pitches are nicely mowed and the views are amazing. We tried out Ted's mapped walks - firstly walking to Fingest for a pub lunch and returned via the small village of Turville. Secondly we set off around the large farm taking in the glorious surroundings, which are full of wildlife. Our little pup just did not know where to sniff first! If you are after a CL that gives you peace and quiet to relax and refresh - we can definitely recommend this one. Ted- we will be returning in the future to try out some more of your great mapped walks.

Ease of arrival/welcome

A warm welcoming friendly first class site.

We arrived on a rainy day, but the owner was waiting for us and walked in front of us to our pitch. He then helped with his blocks to set up the caravan. He then loaned us an EHU lead and again helped to connected it up for us. What a wonderful welcome it made up for the weather! Later the views from the site were revealed and they were just breath taking. You must see them yourself to believe how good they look. There is plenty to see around here, but as well as receiving on arrival a useful leaflet, there is a bag full of walks and other useful information. We have had a marvellous week and will return next year for another stay. Of course when we left the owner helped us to pack up, winding up leads and retrieving his blocks. What an enjoyable friendly site.

a favourite

We like to stay at this Cl and our dog loves it! There are lots of walks directly from the site - straight out of his bed and into the woods, doggy heaven. There are great views from each pitch and the site is well set up except that the toilet emptying point is not particularly convenient. The Wi-Fi is very welcome. The site owner, Ted, is most welcoming and helpful. We arrived this time following very heavy rain and he was at hand to help us pitch the caravan and manage the access when the mud would have made it impossible otherwise. Understandably this is a popular CL.

This is a first rate site, the hosts are genial, immensely helpful and informative. The location is quite unique, with a wonderful vista.I used this site, one of many stopping points,as a base to walk the length of The Ridgeway. It proved to be ideal, and I shall be returning again in the future.Highly recommended. britegd

Absolutely everything a CL should be.

I couldn't praise this site more- a beautiful location, plenty of walks, teeming with all sorts of flora and fauna, good access to amenities and above all, owners who get the balance between making you feel welcome without being overbearing just right. A slightly sloping site as advertised, but blocks are readily available and EHU and water points are very close. A selection of information about the local area is provided, which makes choosing what do do and where to go very simple. I would definitely return here. Although it is a farm site, the CL is located slightly away from the main farm and is very tranquil. All in all a very pleasant stay.

Beautiful, tranquil site

Visited 3-6 Aug 2017. Cholsey Grange is worth visiting for the scenery alone. We had 180 degree views out of the caravan windows over wonderful countryside, and just a few minutes off the M40. It is also peaceful - we were never aware of the proximity of the motorway. The owners are very helpful and accommodating; never too busy to answer questions and offer advice. The site does slope but plenty of blocks were provided and we had no difficulty levelling up (we are new to towing but have owned motorhomes for several years). We will be back.
