Peaceful and Scenic

Excellent site with hard standings and facilities on each pitch. Lovely walks (despite the mud!) and a nice pub/hotel within waking distance. Although a wheelbarrow is provide to transport the toilet cassette to the chemical dumping point, it is some distance away from the pitches.

Last minute getaway and a very pleasant surprise.

It was a dull weekend in February in between storms. I fancied a night away in the motor home without going too far. This cl is under an hour from home and- as luck would have it- there was a spare pitch for just one night. It fitted the bill perfectly. Great pitches with amazing views and serviced with water and electricity. Almost level but chocks sorted the slope. The site is surrounded by tracks and footpaths through beech woods and grassy hills. My dog was in heaven. The owner, Ted, was clearly not a fan of the local pub. I tried it anyway and was glad I did. It was friendly with good local beer and not bad pub food. Sunday morning and off for a 7.5 mile walk through tv and movie famous scenery. Amazing countryside so close to London. I will certainly be back soon now I know this gem of a cl.

A Great CL SIte - Friendly owners and very well kept site

We arrived a day early as of storm Ciara and left before storm Dennis arrived, Ted the owner was very ccommodating of the change of dates. While the weather threw everything at us from gales, snow, thunder and lighting and lots of rain, everything at the site worked perfectly. The internet was very good, the water and electricity post where very modern. The toilet waste is taken by wheel barrow up to the main buildings. The local area has some great pubs and nice walks when we could get out from the site due to weather. An ealier review said about the garage in Tiddington that would refill Safefill gas bottles. He now wont do so, the only place near is Asda in High Wycombe, I did not bother as we only had a day to go before heading home, but worth noting. We will be back as its a great site with fantasic view and wild life to see. Access to the site was very easy off the M40 and the site is very secure with two secure coded gates.

Shh, We don't want everyone to know about this site!!

Stayed for three nights last weekend and had a really lovely welcome from Ted and his two working dogs. The site is in a beautiful part of the Chilterns, with stunning views, and is a very peaceful site. The M40 is not too far away so access is really good to everywhere around. Lots of red kites about, but didn't see any deer on this occasion. Great walks on site and locally. Christmas Common was so pretty and a lovely walk among others. Marlow is deifintely worth a visit, as is Turville. We look forward to coming back again.

One of the Best

Peace and tranquillity, stunning views, lots of wildlife, Deer,Red Kites, Pheasants and the Horses. spacious hard standing service pitches. No toilets or showers and a short trek to the CDP otherwise perfect. lots to do in the surrounding area with picturesque villages and numerous walks around the Chilterns including Fingest, Turville and Christmas Common. And a short drive to Henley on Thames, Marlow, Windsor,Oxford etc. The M40 is only five minutes away in the car but it feels like a million miles.

Family Half-term holiday

We’ve just returned from a lovely half-term holiday at Cholsey Grange. Each large pitch is wide enough for caravan, awning, and tow-car - and given that we have 4 school-aged children caravan, awning and tow car are not small! The fully serviced pitch also has a water, metered electric and grey waste disposal at each pitch. Slightly frustrating is the location of the CPD; a fair trek back towards the farmhouse and outside the window of one of the local business offices. However, a wheelbarrow is thoughtfully provided to assist the journey over the rough track otherwise I wouldn’t fancy wheeling the cassette all that way. Wheelbarrow located by the bins for rubbish and recycling. We took our portable solar panel to keep our electricity usage down and therefore kept well under our total 10 units a day allocation. There are also several garages that will allow you to fill your Safefill gas bottles within 20 minutes or so which we used - the one in Tiddington (almost opposite Oxford Caravans) is definitely to be recommended. What a great spot for the pitches too! Each pitch has spectacular views over the valley and onto the hillsides - sometimes the mist gathered in the valley providing wonderful beauty. Ted (the owner) also said to our children that they could play and explore the grounds - build dens in the forest area, play football in one of the flatter fields and generally roam the sight at will but respecting the abundant wildlife as well as the resident ducks, horses, chickens, owls, and even a peacock! Pheasants and Red Kites are a constant attraction. We all loved walking through the woods and exploring. Ted made us feel really welcome and even took us up to the barn to see if we could spot the baby owls in the owl box which has a camera set up in it! Our 4 children loved it so much they all want to return (with our eldest 2 boys aged 11 and 9, this is amazing as they are not easily pleased!) and our tv didn’t even get watched once as the kids were all so happy playing! If you have children this really is a site designed to make it relaxing and welcoming for the whole family. The location can suffer some road noise from the M40 if the wind direction isn’t favourable but, apart from the very bumpy road from J5 and through to Ibstone, the location is great being relatively close to the M40; easy reach of High Wycombe, Oxford, and several Nation Trust locations - our kids loved the yew maze and play area at Cliveden. Several supermarkets within about 15 minutes too and a few local shops in Stokenchurch. At £17 per night, with potentially more if excessive electric is used, it is at the top end of our budget but you do get WiFi, fully serviced hardstanding pitch, stunning views, security coded gates and an owner who takes real pride in his CL and will make every effort to make sure your stay is as enjoyable as possible. We will be back!

An amazing find

such a surprise, this site is just off J5 on the M40, and its peaceful with stunning views of the countryside, you would never know there was a motorway in the distance!! The owner is very friendly and helpful and very well organised. The directions given are very accurate and as you enter the site through the gate your name is on a white board informing you of your pitch number, together with a leaflet explaining the history and details of the site and its owners. We had a fully serviced level pitch, and the owner came down and welcomed us personally. Lots of dog walks all over the farm. Sadly we were only there for the one night, but we will be back for a longer stay and really recommend this beautiful site.

Great site

We had a super week at Cholsey Grange earlier this month and are very happy to endorse all the previous positive reviews. We have no doubt that after your first visit you will, as we do, want to return. As we said to Ted we are a little hesitant about giving a 5* review ,not because it isn't deserved or appropriate but because we don't want to spoil the chance of there being space when we next want to book another visit.
