Stayed for 2 nights to attend the RHS flower show at Tatton Park. Ideal distance from the show 15 mins drive to Tatton at the most.
Great distance to the local pub less then 5 minutes walk to The Jolly Thresher and great quality food too. Very quiet and great views over to the hills of Lancashire. Working farm but only saw the cat who came for a visit. Someone rents a garage for their classic cars great to see if he's happens to be about when you stay.
A couple of suggestions for improvements to the owners who where not on site when we visited.
Overall yes the site has long grass and could do with a trim, but good shower and toilet facilities a short walk from the camping area. Yes waste disposal is a bit of walk but nothing much too worry about, grey waste disposal also but as we have on board tank we couldn't get our van into the space, ideal for those with wheeled waste tanks.
Would visit again if in the area.
Disappointed
The site has good toilet and shower facilities. Nice views from the pitches looking towards Manchester. Now the negatives, grass where the pitches are is totally overgrown, nettles all around the electric boxes. The water tap was right next to someone’s pitch. The elsan point was a long way from the pitches and you had to dodge the nettles when we got to it. In general the site looks quite unloved and run down, but has a potential to be a really good site.
Nice site, but a bit cramped
Booked Broomedge Farm for 4 nights mid week in October 2023. Booking by email was easy and fuss free. Access is via a single track stony drive, it is a working farm so dogs on leads at all times. Farm gate into the pitch area keeps the site separate to the farm. The owners are friendly but not overbearing.
Initially we were the first unit on the site and were given the choice of which pitch we fancied. We chose the first pitch next to the grass and faced towards the city (grass area was closed due to very heavy rain and was waterlogged). The views are amazing and you can see for miles on a clear day. The first couple of days were great as there was lots of space to move about, but once two more vans arrived, it became very cramped on the hardstanding and difficult to park your car. There was a moho pitched next to the drinking water outlet, and I was stood directly next to their window filling my aquaroll. It felt too close and encroaching on their space. The hardstanding was also very puddly and muddy once the rain came down. In the summer once the grass is opened up I think the site would be lovely, but in the winter, there's probably only comfortable enough space for 2 units.
Shower and toilet facilities are of a good standard but could have been a little bit cleaner.
Good dog walks locally too, straight out the site. The Jolly Thresher pub is within walking distance (2mins) and has good food and drink available.
Lovely site, looking forward to our next stay
Such a shame to read negative reviews which don't feel fair or accurate, we have recommended this site to friends and family and already booked a return visit which we are really looking forward to.
We were made to feel incredibly welcome on our first stay. The owners were really helpful and kind and accomodated us at short notice. Whilst we didn't use the shower block, (as we always use our own facilities) the owner insisted on showing us the new block which he was clearly proud of, it looked immaculate.
The beauty of CLs are the character of the place you stay, which means you're not staying in a site which resembles a car park. This is a real working farm. There is an abundance of wildlife, it was great watching the birds in the tall trees. There are views to Manchester City beyond the vast green fields, plus the beautiful village of Lymm is nearby.
There are 2 hardstanding pitches and several grass pitches, a section of the grass near the trees was left to grow long with a rope fence to protect it for wildlife, but the grass where the caravan pitches are was well maintained.
At first we were a little surprised that the facility to empty the toilet was in a field however it was perfect for the job, and being outdoors it prevented being trapped inside a small room with nasty smells.
There are a couple of pubs nearby too.
It's well worth £25 per night.
Ideal base for Manchester
We spent 2 nights here (18-20th July) and really liked the site. Large grass pitches. Toilet block clean. Minor point - could do with a mirror. Good value for money.
Ideal base for going to cricket at Old Trafford - bus stop 5 mins walk and easy to get taxi back from Altrincham. Lovely food at Jolly Thresher within walking distance.

Disappointed
Basically very disappointed with this CL. the site felt very unloved, the grass was 8 inches high & was long overdue for a cut. Pitch 1&2 are on the hard standing but are far too close to each other. I'd be fair to say that the toilets hadn't been cleaned during our 3 night visit or at least the small bin hadn't been emptied. the chemical toilet disposal is just a manhole in the field and the lid & frame were loose & falling off. it's such a shame as the site has potential to be lovely. Definitely not worth £25 a night
We’ll be back
Lovely CL with stunning views.
Having read a previous review about the access we were a little concerned as our van is 8ft wide, spoke to the owner before arrival and he reassured us it would be fine and it was, the lane is single track but plenty wide enough and no issue with the hedges.
The pitches were a great size and even though the site was full we had plenty of space.
The toilets and shower are immaculate and plenty of hot water.
The owner was lovely, friendly and chatty without being overly so.
There are two pubs within a 10 minute walk - we preferred the Wheatsheaf as the service was quicker but the Jolly Thresher was also good. The site is ideally situated for trips to Manchester, Liverpool or Chester. There’s a lovely stroll along the canal into Lymm which a pretty village.
A great discovery and only 30 minutes from home, we’ll definitely be back
Lovely, friendly stay
A couple of friends and I stayed overnight to go to a gig in Manchester.
The campsite was easy to find and access and we received a very warm and friendly welcome from the owners.
The site is quiet with great views and has a good, clean shower block.
The village and surrounding areas are pretty and the food in the local pub was delicious.
Transport to Manchester City centre is easy, local taxi to tram to the city which run quite late.
Would definitely stay again.

Disappointed with the site
Disappointed with site after reading other reviews- something has changed since those reviews ?
Farm yard was messy, pitches weren’t level and could easily have been made level with a little work. Lane from main road needed trimmed, we are a fairly big unit and branches were rubbing the sides and roof. Chemical waste is in the middle of a field not good on a wet day. Owner was not unpleasant but didn’t tell us about shower/toilets and we didnt find any.
Felt he couldn’t be bothered to host guests. Far too expensive at £25. Quite good location from M6. Won’t stay again.
Best thing was pub at end of lane, Jolly Threasher.
Fantastic CL
Lovely C L site, Really well maintained, everything well signed. Hardstanding was great. there is a grassed area with pitches for dry/summer weather. New toilet and shower block. Warm and friendly welcome. Great location, with shop and pub in walking distance (approx 5mins)
We only stayed one night, due to a hospital appointment, but we would love to return again soon.
