great cl stunning views nice and peaceful

this is our second stop on this site and what a fantastic place.large field with loads of pitch space means you can park sideways on to take in the breathtaking views. the owners nigel and janet really helpful guiding us to numerous national trust sites nearby. bacon and eggs are sold at the farm and there is a 20% off meals deal at the two local pubs when you stop here which is great.lymm village nearby for walks.

Fabulous Views, Transport Links, Walking, Cycle tracks, Pubs & Shop - What more could you want from a CL?

We've stayed at this site several times now and it never fails to please.  It's in a great location, near to Motorway, but right in the midst of countryside with probably the best views in Cheshire from every pitch!   We found no less than 3 excellent pubs serving good food within walking distance, 2 very close and the 3rd right alongside the Bridgewater Canal which is a 15 minute walk or short cycle.  There is a good shop just a few yards from the entrance to the site.  Also very close is the Trans Pennine Cycle track which takes you to Warrington or Altrincham - we did both and found it easy, pleasant and interesting. The nearby village of Lymm is a picture postcard village alongside the canal, with very good facilities and eateries and with beautiful walks alongside the lake at the Lymm dam. We have spent several evenings parked in the Motorhome alongside the dam (free parking) eating a variety of meals from the excellent Chinese Fish & Chip takeaway in Lymm.  There is always a lovely buzz about the village.   The Motorways, Metrolink and Megabus make access to Manchester City fairly easy. The owner, Nigel and his wife live on site, overlooking the access drive which makes this a secure site, unlike another CL we stayed on in the area which made us feel quite nervous.  Nigel goes out of his way to please everyone and as a bonus he sells fab fresh eggs and Bacon! We are already booking our next stay.

Thought we had found a Gem but alas not!

We thought we had found a gem of a site on our first visit and returned again this weekend Disappointed! On our arrival offered to pay there & then, but was told "settle up later or n the morning" When driving onto the field noticed that there were already 5 units on site, didn't think too much about that at the time, but did wonder what happened to the 5 van rule? Going out next morning intending to stop on our way out to settle up, the lady of the house seemed very busy loading her car up, so thought pay on the way back. didn't see anyone around on our return, so on our way out again a bit later stopped and knocked but got no answer. On return later in day got distracted on the way in by YET ANOTHER Caravan in the field!!!! could see EHU coming from an outhouse! Farmer then came across asking for payment tried to explain that we had tried on several occasions but he seemed somewhat distracted! I then had to go the house and pay and he said so that's 4 nights? NO 2! We had every intention of paying before we left! Such a shame as the site has some lovely views but the outright flouting of the 5 van rule has definitely put us off returning! It also states a woodland walk and lake but unfortunately after a lot of looking we could not see this anywhere.

Another good CL

A lovely site with great views. Grass and hardstanding as mentioned in other reviews. Farmer very pleasant and helpful. Excellent pub at end of lane with fantastic food (The Jolly Thresher) - 20% discount if you say you are on the CL. Will definitely use again, yes its on the flight path from Manchester but this didn't disturb us at night.

More like a very expensive French aire

We booked this site to visit the Tatton garden show for which it was very handy. However, we were told to park on a cinder ed parking area, more like a car park as it filled up. The field had a couple of caravans, but for some unknown reason, motorhomes were clustered closely together. We parked on the edge of the field as we use a standalone awning. We felt  £14 a night was far too steep for this site, especially the area we had to park in. We had a view, but some motorhomes wouldn't have had a view at all. There are no facilities but it does have electric. We had to use levelling blocks too. Lymm is a nice town and The Jolly Thre asher pub at the end of the lane was excellent in all respects and very reasonable. The  CL owner was fine on the phone when booking, but not warm and welcoming when we arrived at all, as we drove off he didn't even raise his head and wave, not impressed with that aspect. Would use again for Tatton, for convenience , but only for a night. Worth mentioning that it's under the flight path fRom Manchester airport which could be intrusive for some, I'm deaf so it didn't especially bother me.

Grand for us.

This CL has 3 H/S pitches as well as 5 grass ones. It is easily accessed, being about 4 mls off the M6 and the M56. There are extensive views from Rivington Pike in the west all the way across the West Pennine Moors to the Peak district in the east, especially spectacular at night. There are a couple of pubs in the village, one which gives a discount on meals to those staying in the site. There is also a Costcutter supermarket in the village for those that need supplies. There are numerous N/T properties close by, eg Dunham Massey, Tatton Park and Quarry Bank Mill. For those that like a walk or cycle ride the Bridgewater Canal is about a mile from the site and the Trans Pennine Trail a further 1/2ml on. Although we considered it a little expensive at £14pn for a CL without a toilet/shower we would certainly use it again should we want to be in that area another time.

Good base

A very pleasant CL with wonderful views across to Manchester and the Pennines. Owners were friendly and helpful. Site was large enough that you didn't feel on top of each other and you could enjoy the quiet and privacy. Trees sheltered the site from the prevailing wind. Grass was rather long and although cut twice while we were there, it remained long - probably because there had been a protracted wet spell. Easy access to motorways and main roads. Great centre for touring.

Fantastic location

This is one of the most convenient sites we go to. It is a short distance from the picturesque village of Lymm and is a stones throw from two fantastic pubs. The views overlooking Manchester at night are spectacular. The only minor downside is the distance from the field to the chemical waste disposal point. The site has easy access which is a real plus.
