STUNNING VIEWS

Stayed for 4 nights from 1st July. Without a doubt you would be hard pushed to find a site which command better views than this one. This was out first stay on a CL so we were a little surprised to find 11 caravans on two adjacent fields as we were under the impression only 5 caravans were allowed on a CL. That said the pitches are enormous although very sloping. Don't worry about that though as the very helpful owner supplied us with ample leveling blocks and took the trouble to help me in getting set up. Two minor adverse comments, I don't think the one shower is sufficient for 11 caravans and secondly the pitches currently only have a 6amp capability which is insufficient for new caravans as water heaters and microwaves require a minimum of 7 amps. However once again the owner came to my rescue, he supplied three extension cables and ran my supply from a static caravan in the next field, hows that for customer service!! Would I return - certainly and on discussing the 6 amp issue with the owner he stated that he would increase the amperage to cater for new caravan requirements.

Wonderful site

This must rate in the top three of the sites we have ever stayed at in our many, many years of camping and now caravanning. The views across Cardigan Bay to the Llyn Peninsula are absolutely stunning; the access to Harlech & Barmouth by car, bus or train very easy and there are dozens of walks in the wonderful and varied surrounding countryside. The site slopes quite a bit but that's what gives you the views! We got a very warm welcome the minute we arrived - not from the owners as they were on holiday - but from the caretaker couple, Val & Les, who were lovely. The shower/toilet barn has loads of tourist leaflets, magazines and books plus the washing machine & tumble dryer. The only (v tiny) downside is that the shower control is outside the door of the cubicle and our £1 for 4 minutes ran out on us both, leaving us soapy and cold. Station your partner outside the door ready for when you yell! Check out the farm's website, don't miss the walk across the railway bridge in Barmouth or the ice cream from the shop in the far end of the town the name of which I can't remember (sorry!) but caramel popcorn flavour yummy. We'll absolutely be back.

Exactly what we'd hoped for

I stayed here July 2012 with my husband and two children for 5 nights. We booked via email and received a telephone call to confirm safe receipt of payment. On arrival we were met by Eurig and he showed us available pitches and told us where we could find everything we needed. Sara and Eurig are absolutely lovely and very helpful. The site is on a slope (it IS Wales after all!) and we had fantastic views of the sea, estuary and mountains - blocks are provided for levelling purposes. The site is close to Harlech which is a lovely little town with a great castle and the surrounding area is literally riddled with breathtaking walks - it is well worth driving into the unknown, parking when you find a public footpath sign and taking off. The facilities are basic. There is a single toilet with a shower, and in the foyer an information area, book swap, washing machine and tumble dryer. There is another toilet in the field. On site, there are two holiday cottages and a static caravan for hire which we intend to book non-caravanning members of the family into on our return - we will definitely be coming back to Argoed. This is my first review - hope I've included everything!
