Disappointing

A lovely site with great views but disappointing in a few aspects. We own a business at home so specifically looked for a site with wifi, on arrival we were told that the wifi was not working. The reason given was some kind of router problem, but at no time during our 9 day stay did we have wifi so no emails could be checked or sent. Secondly and maybe the worst of our concerns was the electricity supply, upon arrival we plugged in as usual and then after a few hours of tripping out it became apparent that we only had 6amp electric supply. We were unable to run the heating on electric, only fridge ,low voltage kettle and battery charge would work. More worrying is that 230 volts was not available at most times, as fridge kept switching off, this seemed to be rectified by the owner unplugging 2 motor homes off the circuit and plugging them in in his barn. ( seems like a worrying electrical problem). We resorted to running the heating on gas which meant that we were paying twice, a very over priced £15 per night and the gas which we had already paid for.  Also at one point ove the weekend there were 12 vans on site, 5 on the Cl and 7 on another part of the same field separated by only a one bar fence. If you do book on this CL you might not be guaranteed to be on the designated CL as it seems to be first come first served. Also for 4 nights that we were there they had a van unattended as owners had gone home and I thought this was not allowed as that is classed as storage. Would not visit again as really felt ripped off, but views fantastic.

Good views but some problems.

This is potentially a great CL but our enjoyment was marred by two important facility problems. The advertised wifi was not available for any of our nine days visit - apparently a router issue but not rectified causing us considerable inconvenience. We had specifically looked for a CL with this service. Perhaps more worryingly we had electricity supply issues throughout our stay. Only 6 amps is supplied which is low for a CL in this price category. But apart from the regular tripping out problems we got worrying results from our supply tester - it often registered as "neutral fault".Clearly there are issues with the supply arrangement! We spoke at length to Mr & Mrs Hughes but they were unable to throw any light on the problem. As a result we, and our neighbours, were forced to rely on gas for everything except lighting and fridge thus adding considerably to the cost of our stay. The other concern we had as ex CL owners was the number of vans in the CL field. A sort of fence had been erected across part of the field but it hardly represented a separation. We had always been told that to comply with CL requirements any other pitches must be completely segregated by fencing and gates. This did not really affect our enjoyment but transgression of the rules is a threat to Club powers.  That apart the location was good and we much enjoyed the views.

Beautiful views

Agree with all other reviewers - this site is wonderful. Superb views over estuary and Shell Island - our profile photo is our van at this site.  Another sunset photo looked like somewhere foreign with mountains and palm trees!  Lovely walk down to the beach, all along footpaths, perfect for the dog.  Our only difficulty was finding a shop on Sunday to buy milk (newbie vanners, not prepared!) but the guy in the cafe at Llandanwg gave us some!  Recommend his ice cream.  Hospitality is obviously infectious in the whole locality :)  Will definitely be back.

A gem of a site

First time at this CL and so glad we found it.  Admittedly we were very fortunate with the weather, and the view (from our caravan) of the blue sea and the arm of the peninsula could almost have come from the Mediterranean - a wonderful outlook. Lovely welcome from Sarah; she and Eurig are a lovely couple - always ready to oblige.  Loads of space on the site, and the facilities were always clean and working.  Though the field slopes in different directions, the individual spaces seemed pretty level - we parked broadside on in ours and didn't need to block at all. The beaches and dunes are brilliant (sandy and clean, the water is clear), and there's a footpath to it over the field right opposite the farm entrance .  Lovely bike rides locally (try the Mawwdach Trail from Barmouth - great food at the hotel along the way). Brilliant mountain scenery a stones throw away.    Highly recommended.

Lovely & Thank You Sara & Eurig

First CL site we have tried in our very early days of caravanning. Beautiful views, peaceful, Sara & Eurig work very hard on their farm and they still have the time to look after their guests. The facilities are modern and clean. We didn't want to look at lots of caravans and we didn't as the 1 Acre site is well set out. Bobby the dog thoroughly enjoyed it too. Never been to this area of Wales it is stunning. Thank you again Sara & Eurig. Hope Aladdin the Bull is doing Ok and getting on with the girls. And you didn't really need to do so much hard work with mowing the grass Sara but you did a wonderful job. See you again without a doubt. Have a good season, may your grass stay short and your tumble drier get better.

Lovely site, lovely people

We have stayed at this CL on several occasions now. Beautiful location with well maintained grass and toilet / shower facilities. Lots of space on the fields with electric points spread out and when we have visited a choice of places to pitch - although you may need your leveling blocks for certain spots. No issues with drainage - lucky with Welsh weather! Access is up a farm track (it is a farm CL! - but this was no issue and simple to navigate) Nice walks with the dogs down to the estuary and through the fields to the beach, and Shell Island is defiantly worth a day trip to for the beaches.   Looking forward to a return trip soon!

What a great place!

So much space and amazing views! Loads of room for kids and dogs. A peaceful relaxing site. Just wonderful to look out to sea from the elevated position and watch the sun set in the evening.  Felt like a proper holiday even though we only stayed a couple of days. Highly recommended.

A real gem!

We stayed here for two weeks in June and had a fabulous time. Sarah and Eurig are so friendly and helpful. We had the day and journey from hell but they didn't mind us turning up mid-evening and were so sympathetic to our tale of woe! They are available at any time if you need help. This CL is lovely, very spacious with lots of choice about where to pitch, great facilities, wonderful views and a wide variety of walking along the coast and in the hills, and all within easy reach.

Best Holiday this year!!

Spent two weeks on this site. Sarah and Eurig are a lovely couple with a lovely family!! Easy access for the train and the bus and train fares are very reasonable. We caught the train to Porthmadog and went on the steam train to Blanau Ffestiniog. Another day we went on the train to Fairbourne, caught the ferry boat to Barmouth and then train back to the site. Views from the site would be hard to beat and lots of walks available. No, it isn't a five van CL but there is plenty of space and most people when we were there were using their own facilities. There are two toilets, one where the shower and washing machines are and the other is at the bottom of the field near the toilet emptying facility. I agree that a sign saying no ball games wouldn't be a bad idea. Although it would be a shame because most people are aware of what is acceptable behaviour when kicking a ball around near caravans, but you always get one who couldn't care less and spoils it for everyone else!!! Lovely place. Hope to visit again soon.!! Thank you Sarah and Eurig

good side:- beautiful views from the site. Bad side, this is not a 5 van cl. When we visited there were 13 caravans and 2 tents (nearley 40 people including children) 1 toilet and shower not adequate. A "no ball games" sign wouldnt go amiss
