Beautiful site, noisy shell island

Argoed
Everything that you read about the site is true. It has beautiful views and the sunset over the sea is amazing. The toilet block is very good. It is a CL in the loosest terms but the other caravans don't really bother you. The owners are very friendly. But........ The music from shell island travels across the water and it seems like you are next door to it. It starts about 7.30 and ends around 11.30. This was a Friday and Saturday night so can't comment on other days of the week. It was also September so again can't comment on any other time of year. This is a shame as it is beautiful here and i guess the owners must be annoyed with the thumping noise. Only for this reason, I would not stay here again. Real shame

Lovely spot

Argoed
This was a really nice spot. The owners are friendly and helpful. At £20 plus electricity it was good value for a site with these views! The only disappointment was that it is a marked off section of a larger site. I normally expect a CL to be smaller and more secluded. The whole site has about 30 vans. This wasn't a problem, but it's not what we normally expect. Be aware that the owners Collie is often loose on site.

Lovely views and warm welcome

Argoed
Thank you for a lovely stay. Great welcome and despite the heavy rain we made it in and out of the hard standing without any problems. We walked the dogs out and down fine but discovered on the way back we could easily walk up the hill and out across the stream making walking dogs much easier. The facilities are super… lovely shower for £1 … timing is everything to get your full 6 minutes as the coin box is outside the shower. 😀 Well worth the stay and hope to come again.

three night stay

Lovely welcome and useful local info. We had a level hardstanding, but the grass has a gentle slope. Watch the access from the main road as there is a cattle grid close to it. I approached too cautiously and had a wheel spin! Follow the upward slope and bear right to access the CL. The site affords fantastic views over the estuary and sea (a big plus). At Pen Sarn, 10-15 mins, there is a rail station which is a request stop! Here, you can go to Portmeirion and Barmouth. Beware, the tains are infrequent. However, it gives a nice break from driving. We walked into the village. You have a choice of a short stretch of main road before nipping through a gate and walking along a hedgerow, or taking a more strenous walk through Pen Sarn. This was up and down some decent hilly lanes and took around 45 mins. Never believe anyone who tells you that your destination is only 10-20 minutes away on foot! Only our fit-bits told the truth. Another word of warning: The nearby village of Llanfair has a very narrow main road, with dry stone walls and few wide spaces. Pull your mirrors in and drive with extreme caution. With the above caveats, this is a highly recommended CL.

Nice Quite Site

Argoed
Had a week here. Easy to find - farm track directly off main road. Only slight criticism the site has a number of separate sections and directions to CL section could be clearer. Friendly greeting on arrival. Toilet block clean and modern, rest of site fairly basic, but grass cut and pitches flat. Lovely views across the estuary and well located to explore the local area. Would happily return in the future.
